As much as I hate to do this, I have to put up for adoption, quite a few of my tortoises.

Unfortunately, the donations are not coming in as they had been for the past seven years and I find myself constantly struggling financially. 
And I have put off knee surgery for over a year now and it’s only getting worse. And going through these last two hurricanes has only damaged my knee more.
I can handle financially struggling, but physically struggling has taken its toll.

Just a quick update to let everyone know we are safe and sound from hurricane Helena
all the tortoises were locked up safe and secure and we only had a few trees fall and tons of limbs. Unfortunately, we have the possibly of another hurricane coming in this weekend so we will monitor the weather , and go from there.
Thank you to everyone for all your continued prayers and support for my beloved sanctuary.

As I head into my 8th year of running my beloved sanctuary, my heart is reminded of all of the amazing adventures and accomplishments that have taken place on these beautiful 2 1/2 acres throughout the years.
I have always said it has been a “labor of love”, sometimes more labor and sometimes more love.😊

I’m reposting this from another site because I definitely think it’s worth sharing🐢❤️🐢😊

Did you know a Box turtle only roams 1 mile its whole life? If it is removed from its area/home then for the rest of its life it will roam aimlessly stressed out... trying to find "home" until it dies a very sad death.

Please do not remove turtles. Do not take them home as pets. If one is injured please mark the exact spot found for the wildlife center. If a turtle is in the road you can help by moving it directly across the street in the direction it was heading. Thank you!

I post this every few months because it's not really known. Many people think it is harmless to let their children take home a docile turtle to play with and release it someplace they see appropriate. I was once that kid. Please share the knowledge.

Good Evening Tortoise Lovers ❤️😊🐢😊🐢❤️
So for brunch today, the tortoises were given a combination of Romain lettuce, turnip greens, mushrooms, and egg shells for protein, sliced cucumbers, squash, zucchini, and shredded carrots top off with watermelon and a sprinkle of calcium powder and weekly vitamins (my grassland species do not receive any protein or fruit😊😊)

So for today’s lunch, I made up a combination of Romain lettuce, collard greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, and spring mix top off with sliced zucchini, squash, and cucumbers, and for the reds, I added fresh Kiwi, super ripe mangoes and wild organic blueberries topped off with the light dusting of calcium powder. I wish I ate that well.😊😊😊

We were finally able to get it installed and I want to send a huge thank you to Jack and his crew for making this dream become possible.

Just wanted to share some pictures of my 50 year old muscadine grapevine😮❤️😮(i’ve had this grapevine growing about 15 years, but it came from clippings off of 50-year-old vine)
It looks like we’re gonna have a lot of grapes this year ❤️❤️❤️❤️🐢🐢🐢
Most of the tortoises just love the leaves, I do not feed them the grapes because they have seeds in them so I eat tons of them and share with Neighbors 😃😃😃😃
