The Sporting Horse Australia season has come to an end and i couldnt be prouder of Minty for getting champion A division! Busting out one of his personal best times on a grass barrel course: 18.870, giving him 🥇 in the barrels!
In 2016 Minty was racing in the Monte races and one of his rivals that he raced against, was out competiting in the sporting horse. Minty and Defend Me Not, ridden by Elizabeth Marr got to have another race against each other in the HRV HERO bend race.

Another round of barrels at NBHA Vic D1 - Merrijig Barrel Racing was run and Minty continuing his tradition of doing the same thing week in week out, saw him come home with 🥇 in the 3D barrels for round 3 and 🥈 in the 3D for round 4.

Thank you to WGQHA Horsemen Challenge for a fun weekend!
I was quite surprised Minty won champion green horse 1 after he had some ordinary obstacles on saturday but managed to come through with a good run on sunday!

Sporting Horse Australia at Tallangatta Show and the Mighty Mitta Muster have been another great weekend away!
Minty picking up some placings and getting to have a relaxing and well deserved swim in the Mitta Mitta river afterwards.
Thank you to Judyann Hocking for co-piloting Minty in the stockmans challenege and for the second year in a row, getting 2nd place in the ba****ck section.

Yesterday was the Sporting Horse Australia Lang Lang classic, drawing some very tough heats against some really good horses and although Minty tried his absolute best, it just wasnt his day.
Today we competed in the WGQHA Horsemen Challenge. This is always a fun day and a real test to myself and my horse. There are always different obstacles to challenege the horses and my memory of the course.
We finished the day off by competing in the Bunyip rodeo. I cant be disappointed with Minty's run at all! There is so much going on at a rodeo and he went out there and got the job done.

Sporting Horse Australia Barastoc Horse of the Year 2023!
It was a fun, fast and competitive day!
Minty had a great day of racing and tried his best in everything:
🥇 Champion bend race
🥇 Champion flag and barrel
🥇 B division stake race
4th Barrel race
All of these wins and placings meant that he was awarded 🏆 Reserve Champion open horse, beaten by one point!

Keeping the racing family spirit alive, Minty's younger brother Dontouch The Duco picked up a win at Kilmore!

Minty got to relive his racing days saturday night and was very pleased with himself to feel like a racehorse again and lead out the races on Hunter Cup night 🏇🏻
He then got to be a barrel horse on sunday and put down some slick runs!
We didnt place in the open divisional but did come home with a win in the HRV HERO barrel race!

Minty has been having some amazing runs around the drums since i bought him the turquoise and gold reins from Bling & Speed.
He very much appreciates quality items!

It was a weekend full of barrel racing with the first stop at the Neerim Rodeo!
Next stop was the ABHA/Sporting Horse Australia barrel racing day.
Minty picked up a 🥈 in the 2D and a 🥇 in the HRV HERO barrel race.
A huge congratulations to Jess Barraclough for taking out 2nd place with her Standardbred, Shadow Spar!

In the world of campdrafting, this wouldnt be much of a run but the fact that Minty hasnt reared in the camp and kept all of his feet
on the ground and got a cow around the course, is a win for us!
I find doing these extra activities with Minty keeps him focused and interested in running around drums and poles!

Sporting Horse Australia is one of the friendliest, supporting and fun clubs out there! And Standardbreds are proving their worth against the other horses.
HRV HERO have come on board and there will be a Hero Horse of the Year award for the Standardbreds!

HRV Hero and SHA are excited to announce a new partnership recognising retired standardbreds in Sporting Horse Events.

The series will include a HRV Hero Bending and Barrel race at each SHA event run throughout the year in Victoria, open to all standardbreds registered with HRA. The best standardbred combination will be awarded SHA HRV Hero Horse Of The Year at the SHA Horse Of The Year annual awards night.

Sporting Horse Australia has had a number of standardbred horses that compete in their events currently and have found these horses have made a successful transition to the sport. Standardbred horses have excellent agility and speed making them very well-suited for sporting horse events.

Interdominion finals, here we come!

From racetrack to riding superstars, these retired harness racehorses are set to dazzle the crowds tomorrow night at the SENTrack 2022 Inter Dominion Final at Tabcorp Park.

There will be a diverse team of standardbreds on course at ID 2022, parading together to launch a huge night of top-tier racing and entertainment, before pairing off to take a strut down the straight between races.

With selected combinations representing a variety of riding styles and equestrian disciplines, the many talents and versatility of the standardbred will be on display.

That's a wrap for the NBHA Vic D1 - Merrijig Barrel Racing 2022 series.
A huge thank you to the organisers, sponsors and fellow competitors, without you all this wouldnt be one of my most favourite events!

I couldnt be prouder or happier with Minty and his achievements over the 7 rounds. His consistency and never give up attitude has won him the following at the end of season awards:

🥈 Reserve champion open 3D barrels
🥉 in the open 4D barrels
Runner up Rookie of the year

It is becoming quite clear that pole bending is Minty's favourite thing to do! Another buckle that will be going straight to the pool room along with all of the other momentos i have of Minty and his success!

Finally 🙌🏻 the day has arrived where Minty is no longer the bridesmaid and has won himself champion A division at the Sporting Horse Australia Eastern Vic Classic at Ayr Hill.

One thing i really admire about Minty is his ability to switch on and off like a light.
When it is time to go, he is quite literally rearing to go but inbetween events, he is quite happy to chill out.

A massive thank you to Australian Barrel Horse Association for all the effort they have gone to for the National Finals, it was a wonderful effort and an event i would like to attend again.
The very generous amount of prizes Minty has won for the pole bending means he has a new wardrobe!

Round 2 of the ABHA nationals finals has been run with Minty running a 19.884, alot slicker than his round 1 time of 20.373.
Although neither time of each run or the average of both runs got him a cheque, he's still a winner in my eyes, no matter what i ask of him, he's willing to do it.
Now for some rest before sporting horse at the Melbourne Royal!

I am absolutely stoked with Minty who has won the ABHA national finals pole bending with a time of 22.895. The first time this event has been ran at the finals and he has smashed it and his own personal time.

It was very soggy at Marrar with the campdraft being cancelled and all but one barrel race getting cancelled too.
Minty went around the rodeo, dodging the puddles and did the best he could in some less than ideal conditions.
After a stop over in Coonabarabran last night and we have finally made it to Tamworth today.

Snack time with a view.
Minty has been in boot camp in preperation for some big competitions coming up: barrel racing finals in Tamworth, campfrafts, rodeos and Sporting Horse at the Royal Melbourne Show and Equitana.
He has enjoyed some time off but is enjoying being back in work even more.

After being rookie of the year for Sporting Horse Australia last season, Minty has well and truly stepped it up this season.
In the horse of the year open section he has come away with:
3rd in the bending race
2nd in the stake race
4th in the flag race
And to top it off, placing 2nd in the B division horse of the year.
I am so incredibly proud of how far and how quickly this horse has come along.
