Set your pups up for success tonight and make sure they get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation ahead of all the festivities and fireworks.
Keep them indoors, create a calm environment, and utilize the place command to help them feel safe.
Putting them on place will give them a sense of control and prevent their flight response which will reduce their stress. And as a bonus, it will double as some training for any door knocking 😉.

Pulling on walks, on-leash reactivity, resource guarding, and barking...these were some of the behaviours Olaf's owners were having trouble with.
So we worked on all of that!
Watch Olaf's progress throughout our lessons and how we dealt with certain behaviours.
⚠️ We are waiting for him to settle down on his own
⚠️ I am hoping the digging and barking will stop as she gets older
⚠️ We just adopted him, so we need to show him love first so that he feels safe (our personal favourite)
⚠️ The jumping up will get better the more we ignore it
⚠️ She just needs to figure out what we want of her and she will stop pulling on the leash
Enough with the excuses, train your dog. The main problem with all of these statements (and they are ones we hear all the time) is that the longer the dog practices a behaviour, the more engrained it becomes.

✅Understanding how to be a leader for Niuniu so that she doesn’t have to “take control” of every situation and try to lunge and bite
✅Mastering the loose leash walk

Niuniu's owners came to us after trying a few different reward based trainers but was still encountering problems with on leash manners, overall aggression, and resource guarding.
This little thing was a force to be reckoned with and honestly in my top 3 of dogs I was genuinely scared of.
Niuniu is a great example of how instilling boundaries and structure can have a huge impact on a dogs training progress. Watch the video and see for yourself!

Are you having issues with your dog jumping? Sitting or staying in one spot when asked? Let’s chat. People often look for situational fixes for problem behaviours but aren’t looking at the big picture. The questions we should be asking ourselves as owners: does my dog respect me in every scenario? Do I hold them accountable when giving a command or do I give up when they take too long? 👀 ➡️ If you’re allowing your dog to jump on guests when he/she is happy, then you can’t be mad when they jump up when you’re holding a plate of food. ➡️ If you’re only serious about asking for a ‘sit’ before giving them dinner, then you can’t be mad when they don’t comply outside of that. The takeaway from this video: work on the behaviour in multiple scenarios and hold your dog accountable when asked. Teach them what these commands ACTUALLY mean, rather than only practicing in certain cases. Note: this isn’t a post on allowing your dog to pull you to greet a human - that is a different topic! Do you ever hold the leash back when your dog is greeting someone *just in case* they get too excited? It’s a natural reaction, but what you might not realize is this exact habit actually causes their excitement. 😱 TENSE LEASH 🟰EXCITEMENT 🟰 IMPULSIVE DECISIONS (jumping, barking, nipping, over-arousal, etc.) What you SHOULD do next time you’re in this situation is keep the leash slack. By doing this, you get the best of both worlds: you’re giving your dog the freedom to engage while remaining in control of the situation, using a leash pop if and when necessary. ⚠️DOG ATTACK AT DAYCARE⚠️ Anything can happen when multiple dogs with different temperaments are put into a small space. Watch the video closely and see how everything was seemingly normal until it wasn’t. Typically you hear the story from the one who was attacked, but in this case, OUR client dog was the one who started the fight. THE GOOD PART: the owner took responsibility and knew her dog needed intervention. ✅ Ella had a severe case of dog aggression — she showed predatory behaviour and made it extremely difficult for our owner to take her anywhere.
