Sometimes we support our dogs by helping them make good choices. We set up situations where our dog has the opportunity to have success which builds confidence and helps to have even more success down the line. Who doesn't love to be empowered? The coolest part of empowerment is the staying power of the good choice your dog makes. I have been posting a lot about this technique with Gryf. Here is a video with some how to directions. This will benefit any dog, especially ones with behavioral issues. Any dog of any age is capable of doing this as well. It is great opportunity to teach puppies to learn how to relax. A behavioral down helps them settle faster and the dog brings the calm it produces to other areas of it's life. We help them come less hectic and less unpredictable while creating resiliency with a behavioral down.

Gryf and the Roomba Gryf has gotten used to me and I have taken the muzzle off. He sees me as trustworthy, dependable and predictable. Now, we can start the process of getting into some deeper work. Gryf and naming body parts. Sometimes, we need a dog to feel comfortable with us touching them. Think of the vet tech, the groomer, a family member. Gryf was NOT a fan of me touching him when he came in to board and train.
