Jack and his two of his daycare buddies.
Pre-walk morning stretches.
Currently attending the online live 2023 Dog Behavior Conference from April 21-23 hosted by Victoria Stilwell. Currently recovering from being sick. I’m out here looking like a bridge troll, but I’m still happy. ❤️
Anyone know what these are?
The workout was exhausting but goals were met. My guys still needed to have their afternoon walk, so we hit the trail behind the apartment complex. We all were a little drained today.
Jack does not want me to leave for work…Winston is fine either way, lol.
Jack, Winston, and my foster pup Theo recently visited “THE” Bull Creek Preserve in Austin TX. Not to be mistaken by; Bull Creek Reserve…which will not take you to this location…lol.
AAC’s small dogs in house 7/1/22. Shout out to all of the 501c3 rescues who have the capacity to accommodate pups of all sizes right now! We are always full and appreciate any pup you can pull.
Austin Animal Service pups. Some of the latest and greatest of transports.
My boy Lane and I woke up early to watch the Sheryl Crow documentary on Showtime during breakfast. It was a pleasure fostering him even if it was for a short time. Lane is currently available for foster at Operation Kindness.
Yesterday we went to check out the dinosaur tracks on the river bed in Leander Texas. Every state has its own beauty. I’m really starting to appreciate the rugged hiking trails of Texas.
This weeks intake part 2. Along with kitties we have puppies too. As it gets warmer, we can expect more to come in.
This weeks intake part 1. We have so many nursing and expecting mother cats ready for foster. There will be more on the way soon.
Yesterday was rough, but I’m feeling much better today. I got my ass out to the trail and ran 5miles. I’m dead, and my body hurts like hell but I’m glad I did it. It was nice to see that the bluebonnets are finally blooming.
Kitten season is upon us! We have had so many kitties come in these past few days. Here are a few of my favs.
Here are a few of the pups we took in this week. I’m in love with the Polly the black pit mix with the white toes. She looks like she has had a few litters. It’s time for her to enjoy the rest of her life as an empty nester.
This is what we had space to pull from Bell county today. Sadly the Bell county animal shelter is still over capacity right now, and they need big dogs out pronto. We took what we could, but they are in desperate need of rescue assistance.
Found my favorite wine at the store. Black stone Merlot is not a fancy wine, but it’s one of the best.
A bit of dirt on my face, a cold can of beer, and a pack of dogs being dogs on a nice sunny day. This is all I could ask for and more.
This flame point has the best temperament. I doubt he will be with us long before he is adopted.
Today my beasts and I focused on staying warm. All 5 of us are currently in a cocoon of blankets.
It’s raining cats and…well more cats! We have had a lot of cats come in this week. Luckily we had the perfect pup to supervise the process. Thanks boss 🐕
The latest and greatest.
Every now and then I run into an animal that immediately steals my heart. Bock is a BIG cat who enthusiastically asks for human affection. He didn’t seem to bothered by the other cats or dogs at the shelter, but we will investigate that further as he settles in. This is one chonky boi.
The latest and greatest pups and cat of the week.
Making the best of this godforsaken weather at Chelle’s in Dallas TX. Keep warm friends!
Blueberry muffins needed to be made. This is my going out alternative. Now, who wants to eat these bad boys? I know I’m ready to tear into one.
Meet Jellybean, the spunkiest little foster pup this side of Dallas. This girl is on her way to becoming a well rounded adult.
Did you get your vitamin C today? No?Marmalade suggests you take you eat an orange. Here is what this days intake had to offer.
Yesterdays drive was rough, but these guys are worth it. This cat was ready to go as soon as I opened her kennel.
About to head out with this guy to finish up Christmas shopping. I recently taught Jack how to ride in the backpack. Or more accurately, I convinced Jack that the back pack was a good time. He wasn’t having it at first, lol.
Just walked into the “…neatest bookstore slash bar” I have ever seen. Thank you Bishop Arts for throwing me a diamond today. I’m thankful for everything I have in my life. It could all be gone in an instant…
Give it up for the cats with the best RBF. All of these guys are sweet.❤️
We are getting ready for the new variant to hit. We still have lots of dogs and cats rolling in pet usual. Nothing had changed there sadly. Here are my favs from today.
Bishop Ecto Cider with the pups at the shacks. It was a little too sweet for me, but good for peeps who like sweet drinks.
Some of my faves from this month.
Lol, Winston and Yuma had the perfect background music. I miss the live bands at the park.

This came to OPK in 2015 when their breeder was unable to care for them due to health complications. After being processed by our medical team, they all found loving homes. #pekingeseofinstagram #rescuedogsofinstagram #wednesdaythrowback
OPK 2014, This was a litter of GSD pups from way back when I was a kennel technician with Operation Kindness. They all were adopted into loving homes. I still think about these little ones. #germanshepherdsofinstagram #rescuedogsofinstagram #wednesdaythrowback

Leia is our new long term foster. She will be with us for a few years until her adoptive family comes back from military deployment oversea’s. Her family who loves her very much, adopted her from a high volume shelter and has taken excellent care of her. Unfortunately, she was unable to make the trip due to her breed which is banned where they are going. Until they return, she will be chilling with us 💞. Long term fosters have the ability to keep pets in homes of active military families, and other families in transition for housing. Please contact your local shelter if you are able to provide long term foster care. #fosterdpgsofinstagram #pitbullmix #goddog #shelterdogsofinstagram
This is the big tank. My Gourami are a little territorial so they are the only labyrinth fish in the tank. Love them both though, lol. #gourami #dojoloach #aquarium #itsthelittlethings
My Beta tank is really coming together. ❤️ Neon Tetra make great tank mates for Beta’s. The shrimp have plenty of cover with the live plants growing in the tank, and they have been thriving. #hobbies #aquarium #beta #neontetra #itsthelittlethings

This Ukrainian flag inchworm and the ABGB brewery in downtown were my first impressions of Austin Texas. I have to admit, it was a pretty good start. #inchworm #ATX #ABGB #supportukraine🇺🇦
Hell froze over deep in the heart of Texas, as per normal for this time of year. That means it’s time to huddle inside, eat bread, and deserts, and get all fat and sassy…For now, soup happened. Wine is involved regardless of the weather. Lydia’s final chapter; Now separated from her pups, Lydia prepares for her spay in foster. At Operation Kindness, she is placed into a behavior foster home to overcome her fear of strangers. While in foster, Lydia’s foster parents decide to adopter her. She now lives happily with her two adoptive dog siblings. Thank you Operation Kindness. Without your team, dogs like Lydia would not get a second chance. #operationkindness #fosterdogsofinstagram #austinanimalcenter #animalrescue
No-Kill not Viable at Austin Texas Municipal shelter: Austin Animal Center Part 3 Nauseating Loop of Rescue; A dog comes in at AAC whose aggression poses, or has resulted in a serious injury to a person. AAC makes the decision to euthanize. By ordonnance of an animal advisory Commission lead by Craig Nazor who knows sh*t about animal welfare, BUT has ties to APA (No conflict of interest there). AAC has to post animals slated for euthanization for rescue. Side note MOST successful, ethical rescues recognize when a dog is not viable for adoption and will not take dogs on who have a SIB on their record. Grudgingly APA swoops in, sh*ts on AAC, posts a sob story about how AAC failed this dog, and collects the donations and good PR that yields. APA staff member, volunteer, adopter, innocent by stander, etc is seriously injured by the dog, usually with increased severity. (Bites tend to increase in intensity over time.) APA makes the decision to Euthanize. Eileen McFall finds out about the pending euthanasia (I’m not sure how she gets this information, considering APA is very hush hush about the animals they euthanize.) Its also no secret that Eileen is not a fun rescue partner to work with due to hero complex, notorious smear campaigns, lack of human empathy, and narcissism. Long story short someone gets seriously injured at Final Frontier, and they Euthanize the dog. Again VERY hush hush. You know, wouldn’t want to contradict that rescue mission. #no-kill #austinanimalcenter #austinpetsalive #rescuedogsofinstagram #animalrescue
No-Kill is not viable for the Austin Texas Municipal Shelter; Austin Animal Center Part 2 What’s so sinister about all of this… Austin Pets Alive Euthanizes animals for behavior, even though they set Austin Animal Center ablaze when we try to make the right decision by removing an animal from constant stress, confusion, and suffering that is causing them to react aggressively. Therefore, not making them safe to care for in or out of a shelter environment. When you look at a animals kennel card at Austin Pets Alive. They have Quality of Life listed as one of the things to monitor. When you are measuring the quality of life of an animal, you are making a determination about possible euthanization. In fact, animals Austin Animal Center has plead to Austin Pets Alive that were slated for Euthanasia due to unmanageable aggression, have been euthanized at Austin Pets Alive. As a non-profit organization, it’s no secret that Austin Pets Alive has a very hard time with criticism. They won’t admit to euthanizing animals willingly because they don’t want to tarnish their reputation as the champions of no-kill in Austin Texas. However, not even Austin Pets Alive can escape the legion of rescue Karen’s who run Final Frontier. Eileen McFall, is the savior who founded Final Frontier. Final Frontier is a rescue organization who champions themselves with saving the unsavable, and finding them loving homes in a community near you. Eileen pulls dogs slated for euthanasia from APA and AAC. While also sh*tting on which ever organization she is pulling from. Because nothing raises donations for a non-profit rescue like a smear campaign. Isn’t that right APA. Tragically, and not surprisingly, even our hero ends up having to euthanize dogs ONLY SHE COULD SAVE and WERE JUST MISUNDERSTOOD by the incompetent staff, management, and volunteers at APA and AAC~sarcasm. #nokillshelter #austinanimalcenter #austinpetsalive #animalshelter #rescuedogsofinstagram
No-kill is not viable in Austin Texas’s Municipal shelter and this is why; In 2010 Austin launched a no-kill plan with a signed agreement that Austin Pets Alive would assist with overflow in exchange for the land they currently occupy that was intended for the Austin Animal Center. Since the no-kill plan was enacted, Austin Pets Alive has not been taking the amount of animals they agreed on because they are starting to understand when you take on animals deemed unadoptable due to medical or behavior reasons (which is what APA was originally meant to assist with) eventually as those animals are passed up for adoption or, returned, over and over again. Space becomes unavailable, and they are forced to operate as a sanctuary, which they are not built for and do not have the resources for. Understanding this APA has not resigned the no-kill agreement, and is asking for it to be revised in order to in Ellen Jefferson’s own words, “Make it more equitable” for Austin Pet Alive as a partner. As a certified professional dog trainer with the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers with experience working in a rescue and municipal shelter; AAC. I understand dog behavior from the perspective of a shelter and home environment. I know that not every dog coming into the shelter is a viable candidate for adoption and would not thrive in a home environment, let alone a city as populated with people and other animals as Austin Texas. #austinanimalcenter #austinpetsalive #rescuedogsofinstagram #animalshelter #nokillshelter #operationkindness
Lydia and her puppies were what originally brought me to work for Austin Animal Center. When I went to pick this girl up, it was clear that a transport program was desperately needed in Austin. Thank you Operation Kindness for taking Lydia and her puppies. Without your help, this girl and her litter got a second chance. #operationkindness #austinanimalcenter #animalshelter #animalrescue
