With a heavy heart and deepest sadness that I must announce that our special little friend has passed away last Sunday.
He was fatally attacked by other birds out of our sight. He breathed his last breath after 4.20pm on Sunday 17 October 2021.
He was a free, happy, loved and contented bird 🐥
He was a very connected, social, and loyal little fella - an 8 year old male cockatiel - a bit different to other cockatiels in that he loved and engaged with people so much but less so other birds.
He was very rarely locked up in a cage; he would often perch himself in his open cage to feed and rest at night… or wherever he chose to rest 😚
He followed us everywhere attending meetings, social occasions, expos, constantly perched on the shoulder like many parrots like to do, with no wish at all to escape or fly away.
He was contented, loved, spoilt with scratches, he has been an amazing life companion with very high values and respect and sensitivity, socially often kissing and perching on people’s shoulders. He would follow us around, behaved more like a little puppy dog or young child.
He had full love and trust given to him, we really watched his contentment grow and as we all got to know him over time.
He had been out socially the night before and enjoyed all the attention he was given 🙂
Today, on his final day he roamed around our new tiny houses, and chirped away happily. He had a happy day with friends, surrounded by love 💕
He was a happy bird.
He was adopted, raised delightfully by a young lady who had to pass him up moving into a new rental that didn’t accept pets, so he was returned to his grandparents (breeders) where he was found to be a unique bird, different in that he didn’t like other birds as much, he just wanted to be with people, so he lived not in the aviary but in their house upstairs, and then he was offered unintentionally.
He had as happy a home as he could be given. Maybe just a bird to some, but as all living beings are special and are no less conscious with intentions to live, and prosper when treated with love & respect… it’s universal.
Dexter had a life where he touched many other little hearts and won hearts everywhere ❤️
We all loved this little birdie 🐥
Dexter, Missing you already… xo
May your soul Rest In Peace or fly fancy free forever wherever you may be, little buddy 🥲 🤗🙏
