The second trick of Christmas, using shaping to teach a two or four feet on behaviour. Find yourself a prop I’ve used a book, pop it on the floor in front of your dog and see what happens. Mark and reward any steps towards the final behaviour, this may take a couple of sessions or more, I’ve popped a video of me and Muppet having a go in the comments, please do join in and post your photos or videos 😀

The 12 tricks of Christmas, see how many your dog can do or how many you need to work on ?? I will post one trick a day for the next 12 days. The game is all about one cue only and giving us exercises we need to work on with our dogs to build a great bond. There will be a video of me and Muppet doing each exercise in the comments. I attended a conference at the weekend organised by the ABK, great line up of speakers including Sarah Fisher, Michael Shikashio, Dr Robert Falconer-Taylor, and many more. Some interesting presentations and revelations, loved this slide as it’s so true

🎄It’s getting to that time of year where the brightly coloured, festive looking dog treats appear on the shelves. We again issue the warning we give every year and beg you to avoid them for the safety of your dogs.
🎄With lots of new puppy owners thinking of Christmas presents, we thought we would share this again.
We know most of you know they are bad, but often people who don’t own dogs will buy your dog/puppy a present for Christmas and these look fun.... they are NOT! If you get any, bin them.
DO NOT give them to your dogs or puppy’s.
PLEASE LEAVE THEM IN THE SHOPS !!!
🎄The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China.
Their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell. Then come the pretty festive colours and the glue to form cute shapes. They regularly cause intestinal blockages and choking. The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog.
