Just spent a fantastic weekend in Wales with my Companion Dog Trainers Academy hat on teaching our Focus and Impulse Control workshop. Great to meet so many trainers and handlers wanting to learn new methods and improve their relationship with their dog. We're camping in Weymouth next week and need someone to look after buster once or twice, so we can book up some family activities. If you provide this service and have availability, please get in touch. Thanks! Maeve (ps here's a reminder of the smelly twit you'll be looking after. 25 kg, very good with all humans including children, doesn't get on with some young male dogs. I wouldn't mind if he stayed alone in your house for a few hours, as long as he's comfortable and safe). And of course we would pay going rates.

Hi all throughout the summer my scent work groups are doing location searches, we have a couple of spaces available due to holidays if anyone would like to join us ? Scent is gun oil this is a training session not a test with a friendly group, spaces available are Monday 12th August 1-3pm one space and Friday 16th August 1-3pm two spaces available both are at Dorchester Prison cost £30 for more details please message me.

While I’m not doing normal classes through the summer we are doing other activities such as location searches for my scent classes and course running for hoopers. Many thanks to Bridport Football Club for allowing us to use their premises today for our scent work activities. We checked out the stands, changing rooms and around the clubhouse seeking out the dogs chosen scent, well done everyone some fantastic searching and great indications 👏👏🎉

Puppies 12 - 20 weeks of age at the start date.

Canine body language is a complex system of non-verbal cues, including posture, tail position, ear orientation and facial expressions, that dogs use to communicate their emotions and intentions.
Understanding these signals is crucial for dog trainers as it enables us to accurately interpret a dog's mood and responses, fostering effective communication and trust.
This insight helps in tailoring training methods to individual dogs, ensuring a positive and safe learning environment, and preventing misunderstandings that could lead to behavioural issues or aggression.
We will be doing a half day session on canine body language in our 3 day Behaviour Course planned in Dorset in August!

We have had a busy week, Muppet and I attended a scent class, Mantrailing session and a hoopers and scent competition, as always she was a superstar not only with her normal enthusiast approach to everything but also having fun and being such a well behaved model citizen. True facts

Many of us work with puppies!
A common ‘issue’ that I get contacted about is puppy mouthing.
These are just 3 myths i often hear ⬇️

Puppies, like babies, need guidance in what not to chew or stick in their mouth. Letting the mouthing continue into adolescence can be dangerous.
Getting owners to understand that it’s a natural behaviour is sometimes difficult, I find referring to babies sticking everything in their mouth to investigate can help!
