Pet Nanny of Macon, LLC - Pet Sitting & Dog Walking is our go to pet sitter when you want your babies to stay in their home while you are away. Each pet is loved like family and we wouldn’t trust anyone else our furry family!

We took a break. It was awesome! It helped me refocus and you will see a lot of fun things coming from Pet Nanny this year! I needed to reset and get ready for this new year, number 15! Wow! So many pets, so many new friends, it has been an amazing experience being Pet Nanny. Stay tuned for more news to come!

We don’t correct, we redirect!

The majority of “aggression” in dogs is fear based. Punishing that behavior only creates more fear and a ticking time bomb. When we address the emotional state of the dog and help them learn how to better handle those situations, we create a happy and stable dog.

Nemo went from tail tucked and wanting to run away from me, to working for treats in an hour. We LOVE working with fearful dogs and building their confidence!!!

Kaos is learning how to relax and not live up to his name anymore.

“A line appears. The order wanes. The family falls. And Kaos reigns.”

Kaos is appropriately named. From spinning in wild circles in his crate, to controlling the other dogs in the house, to nipping at his mom, this young German Shepherd is causing chaos at home.

The first thing we noticed when meeting Kaos is that he is quite fearful and we needed to make a training plan that builds his confidence and trust in us. We started with treat training to build trust. While he quickly warmed up to us, he had a very short attention span and a slip lead alone wasn’t not doing much in the way of control or giving direction. After some consideration we decided that a prong collar was likely going to set his training back and landed on using a slip leash as a head halter (in the photo below). This idea worked out great and he is now following commands with far better focus!

Training is about being flexible and training the dog in front of you. There is no tool that is appropriate for all dogs.

Linus isn’t a big fan of dogs, especially not large white dogs. This a disheartening problem for his owners as they are friends with Lacey’s owners. Today we were able to have Linus chilling with Lacey and Arlo with they all took treats for sits!

Linus’ family want to be able to take him everywhere, which means he is getting to go on so many adventures while in training. Today we took him hiking to change things up. He LOVED running around in the woods and taking in all of the new smells.
