Up for adoption:

Cedar, is 13yo in January. His owner is moving to Australia in April and due to his age she is looking for someone or a family to love Cedar and give him a good home for his remaining years.

Socialized with dogs and cats but he will chase the cat if it runs from him.

Very food orientated with a good appetite, Cedar has been known to steal food if left unattended and will try to eat another dogs food when given an opportunity.

Cedar is still very active and loves runs on the beach off lead, typical beagle though, Cedar’s recall is not the best.

Passive and gentle, Cedar is good with kids and loves pats and cuddles.

Cedar has an autoimmune issue which requires him to take a low dose of prednisone daily. He has arthritis in his hind legs and cannot jump up on beds and furniture so much anymore.

Cedar is based in Waiuku, Auckland.

Here is an update about Bonnie:

There was a LOT of interest in her and I am really sorry so many people missed out. There were some exceptional homes to choose from!

I received this message from her new owner:

Good Morning Susie
Wanted to give you an update on our gorgeous girl Bonnie. We're absolutely all in love with this beautiful girl.
She's been fantastic and will now sit, wait, stay, walks on a lead & is fabulous in her crate.
She's the most gorgeous doggo ever and the cuddliest, smoochiest girl. Bonnie Loves to be cuddled and sitting on you. She eats everything and has had a few sneaks in the pantry. She can open doors, retrieves hidden objects & loves to bury toys.
Thanks to her beautiful previous Mum who raised a gorgeous darling. We are 100% in love with the cheekiest, beautiful Bonnie.
Thanks so much for choosing our family xx

And then to top off this successful rehome I received the following message from Bonnie’s previous owner:

Hi Susie
I have to express my appreciation for finding Bonnie the perfect family to go to. They are in love with her and she is really being looked after well. It is just the environment and caring Bonnie needed. They keep me updated and send photos. Thank you so much - it was really really really hard to let her go - a lot of tears even though I knew it was the right thing for Bonnie. I can’t thank you enough and I’m so glad you do the beagle re-homing.

UPDATE FROM LAIKA'S NEW OWNER:

Just a quick email to let you know how Laika is doing.

For the first week we walked to work and home (a round 7.2km trip) so she could get to know her location and my work colleagues.

At first everything was very scary and there were parts she just put the brakes on and wouldn’t budge…so I would pick her up and carry her. She definitely doesn’t like black utes with Thule roof storage or big storage containers on the back, nor does she like campervans especially if people have got the doors open. And if people are coming up behind us she has to wait for them to go past before she’ll proceed. She also does not like big buildings or flags that say shops are open. However, on Friday we walked all the way to work and I didn’t have to carry her at any stage…so that is great progress.

She is getting used to my (now her) work colleagues, but the couriers that come and go and people passing outside the windows get a huge growly bark up. She never attacks anyone but she is very scared about the human traffic and new people. But I imagine with the continuing reassurance that will come right.

We have been to the groomer and had her toenails cut and a**l glands emptied. The Groomer thinks she is lovely!

Laika loves her river and beach walks where she does lots of off-lead zoomies- she can run quite fast for an 8 year old. There are some dogs she doesn’t like- usually bigger ones and often border collies(my previous beagle didn’t like them either!) and she’ll chase them barking. She’s definitely fearless and top dog when it comes to dogs she’s not fond of!

She’s not as food obsessed as my previous beagle and when she doesn’t want to do something there is no bribing her with treats!

She loves her bed at home and work and is very happy going for dinner to my sister’s place and visiting my Mum in the local retirement village.

I feel we have bonded well. The first week she used to go straight to bed (she sleeps in my room) after we got home and she had her dinner-about 6pm… and wouldn’t get up until 8.30am. I tried to get her to sleep in the cage downstairs, but that wasn’t a happening thing so it’s now in the garage. Now after dinner she parks herself on the couch next to me while we watch tv.

She is very good at not running away when she is off lead and if I say ‘stay’ when I want to put her lead back on she won’t budge until I get there. Such a good girl!

UPDATE: THANKS FOR THE OVERWHELMING INTEREST IN BONNIE!
A NEW FAMILY HAS BEEN CHOSEN BY THE CURRENT OWNER.

Up for adoption: Bonnie is 2yrs 4 months. Is good at retrieving things and also likes for you to hide things for her to find. Will eat anything. Bonnie currently doesn't get enough one on one time and attention. She is quite well behaved - always returns when called. A very loving and cuddly bitch. She has grown up with teenage girls and other dogs. No cats but current owner not think she would worry them. Has been around horses and cows. She is an inside dog but is in kennels and a run during the day. She is very busy and can be a full on dog. But is fine if she has enough time spent with her.

If you are interested in Bonnie ( she is in the wider Auckland area) then please follow the instructions below:
🐶 Send an email to [email protected]
🐶 Put ‘Bonnie’ in the subject line
🐶 You will then get by return email a set of questions to fill out
🐶 once your email comes back with all the info I will forward to the current owners who will make the decision

I am away for part of the weekend but will definitely respond to any emails by Sunday evening.

UPDATE: Laika has now found a new owner, thanks to all that contacted me and filled out the form, however only one home was needed and sorry if you are disappointed that it wasn't yours.

This is Laika, she is 8 years old and lives with an elderly couple that have had her since she was 2 years old. The couple move into a retirement village soon with no easy access to the outside and are therefore looking at rehoming Laika. Please no negative comments.

If you are interested in Laika ( she is in Levin) then please follow the instructions below:

🐶 You will then get by return email a set of questions to fill out
