Carolina Poodle Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit and NO-kill/limited entry private rescue. We rescue Here at Carolina Poodle Rescue (CPR), we rescue a lot of dogs.

We never really know their condition until we get them here. Many are neglected physically, while others have never known love. And, there are others that have known love, but for whatever reason, they are now with us. Meet Adoptable Sally Pup Green!
Sally Pup Green is female Poodle puppy. She was born into rescue in late August 2023. Her mom is a Standard Poodle, and her dad is a Miniature Poodle so Sally Pup Green is a Moyen.

Green Puppy requires a home with another active dog for socialization and play. We will not place Green Puppy in a home with senior dogs. The companion dog MUST be 5 years old or younger. A person scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and can provide multiple potty breaks throughout the day and night is a must. She is a baby and needs play breaks as well as frequent and consistent potty times to aid in potty training. Green Puppy will not be adopted to a home with children under 10.

Poodle puppies are always in need of a canine friend; they love to run and play with one another. Poodle puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically, so a fenced in yard will be required. Poodle puppies are very well-rounded dogs, they do not meet strangers and would do well with a nice big family or a single owner! What matters most to a poodle puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well, it is important to note that poodles can have a high prey drive. If you expect your puppy to get along with your feline buddy, it’s important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can! This pup has not had contact with cats that we know of and will not have contact while with their current foster.

Meet Carolina Poodle Rescue’s adoptable Sally Pup Blue!

Blue puppy is a 2 month old Moyen Poodle! His dad is a Miniature Poodle and his mom is a Standard Poodle, so we expect him to grow to be around 25-30 lbs. He is still a puppy, so he will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract. Puppies need special adopters who have the time, patience, and know-how to help them grow into wonderful companions. He is not yet house or crate trained, and he needs another dog in his home to build socialization skills and as a play buddy. His companion dog needs to be active and relatively young to keep up with him. People who are home most of the time would be best, as he needs constant training and frequent potty and play breaks. Blue puppy is curious and loves to play, so a fenced yard would be best. He is looking for a family without kids under 10 that can give him a great environment to grow and learn.

🥰🥰TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY - TRIXIE'S STORY🥰🥰

People whisper things or tell us they are looking for a sign during adoptions. “You know I said in the car on the way here I wanted a red poodle,” Pam whispered to her brother during Trixie’s meet and greet. Trixie was with us for a week before she found her new mom and sister, Mia. Mia had lost her big sister in July and was very lonely. Mia wouldn’t let mom leave the house without having separation anxiety confirmed by doggie cams in the home. It was more than time to find Mia a new sister.

Trixie arrived at the farm via Anderson County shelter. She was a tangled mass of red hair and bones. Yet, all Trixie showed us was never-ending sweetness. Upon arrival at the farm, Trixie jumped out of the car and greeted everyone with complete adoration. The staff looked at her in amazement as her matted mess had left patches down to her skin from the shelter staff cutting her coat with scissors. While we could play connect-the-dots with her fur we quickly noticed little miss sunshine had been without food for a while. Trixie should easily weigh 22 lbs and was only 16 lbs or missing 28% of a healthy body weight.

Pam reached down to love on Trixie during the meet and greet, “It’s going to be fun putting weight on her.” Trixie’s little hip bones were popping out as Pam gave her b***y scritches. Soon, 16-year-old Mia was down on the floor with Trixie. Sniffs and circles ensued which left Mia with one last test for Trixie - a play bow. With all her little heart Trixie bowed right back and they were off with cute little dog romps around the floor.

Trixie, now Lucy, has resolved Mia’s separation anxiety 100%. No one can have a bad day with this girl around. There are only bright, happy days in her mind. Fortunately, CPR was able to meet this little girl and ensure the next 4,475 days were a little brighter.

🥳🥳HAPPY TAILS - BAILEY'S ADOPTION STORY🥳🥳

Wei lost her best friend, Shakespeare, in March 2023 and after grieving was ready to open her heart and home to a new best friend. Wei rescued Shakespeare and was looking for just the right dog to fit into her urban lifestyle. Bailey’s story and picture spoke to Wei’s deep compassion for animals.

Bailey’s story began as a 3-month-old puppy adopted from CPR in 2022. She came back to us in July 2023 and we learned all about grown-up Bailey. Bailey spent her puppyhood as a second dog. Bailey is not a second-fiddle kind of girl. She wants her own princess show and nothing less. Bailey earned the nickname ‘Bae’ since it was always her show.

Bailey quickly learned that Wei was the kind of person seeking a new best friend. Bailey came in the room with her usual barks and whinnies announcing herself ‘what’s going on? I’m here!’ However, when she felt Wei’s calm soothing compassion, she quickly settled at her feet and gave Wei her best ‘I’m your girl’ look with her amber eyes. When Wei responded with ‘Bae’ the initial bond was set. Bailey was going home and very much in love with her new mom.

🥳🥳HAPPY TAILS - CASPER'S ADOPTION STORY🥳🥳

Sally and Ed are repeat adopters and poodle people as a lifestyle. Casper (white standard poodle) stayed in his shell while he was living at the farm. Always polite and aloof was Casper’s style. During his adoption, Sally said, ”That’s me. I’m incredibly shy!” Ed on the other hand was boisterous and playing the role of computer repair. Sally and Casper sat in the room quietly doing their thing. Casper would move in closer and closer, it was becoming clear that Sally was going to have a new morning coffee friend to start her days.

Sally wrote us a few days later, “This dog is so my dog and perfect match!” The matchmaking team began long before these two met to put together the pieces of Casper’s wishes. Casper, while quiet, was waiting and telling us he needed calm and peace from the world. Now he is living the quiet life fully content.

Meet Adoptable Sally Pup Orange!
Orange Puppy is a female Standard Poodle mix. She was born into rescue on August 22, 2023. We know her mother is a Standard Poodle. We don’t know what breed of dog her dad is.

❤️🐩🐾 OH HAPPY DAY!!!
Cabot was a dream foster dog. Well behaved, potty trained, affectionate, friendly to people and other dogs. Yet, it took five tries, before the perfect family could be found.
Today was Cabot's day to meet Gloria and Ron. They had recently lost their fur baby and after a period of grieving they decided it was time to adopt another poodle.
Cabot had recently lost his person and was ready to be loved again. Today, all their wishes were fulfilled. Cabot will have a home in Florida and one in Alabama. Good for you, sweet boy, we are so happy you have found unconditional love again!!!

Barbara Ann is one of our long-term adopters. Over the past 15 years she has adopted 30+ dogs from Carolina Poodle Rescue, primarily our oldest residents who needed a soft place for their final home. Whether it was 3 weeks or 3 years, she has welcomed each baby without hesitation and with the same love and commitment to being their happily ever after.

3 months ago Barbara Ann welcomed Bowser, a 15-year-old toy poodle who had been adopted from CPR and landed at a shelter 5 years later as a stray, into her pack. We chatted a lot about the dogs she’s adopted over the years (not to mention the many fosters she has welcomed) and the special place each holds.

During the chat, Barbara Ann shared that her heart dog was a teacup long haired chihuahua. She loves poodles – and always will – but her heart belonged to a tiny treasure. We knew then that our mission was to find a long haired chihuahua that could fit into her lifestyle and fill the void in her heart.

Enter Willi. Willi was one of our dogs recently surrendered as part of a large breeder release. His intake photos were of Willi on an awards table – a champion show dog. It was clear he’d been well loved and cared for. We weren’t sure from the photo if we were looking at a teacup Pomeranian or a teacup chihuahua. Either way we knew we were saying yes.

When Will arrived on the property he was all man. An unaltered 8+ year old boy had lots of love to share with the senior ladies in Addison’s Abbey (our senior center). We knew instantly we had a long-haired chihuahua, and that we had found Barbara Ann’s dog.

Last week, we had the pleasure of placing Willi into Barbara Ann’s arms. There were happy tears. And lots of kisses and snuggles. There was playing and dancing among the pack. Willi waltzed into Barbara Ann’s home as though he had always been there.

Most of all, there was joy. Joy that a retired breeder dog had found his happily ever after. Most importantly, visible joy that a heart match had been made.

Will – now Tito – is home. Dance on lucky boy!

Meet Adoptable Tommy!
Tommy is an adult male Shih Tzu. He came to CPR in late June 2023 as a breeder release. The breeder decided to close their Shih Tzu breeding business. Tommy is currently in a foster home in Rocky Mount, NC.

Tommy is seeking a home in which he can be around his people nonstop and love them endlessly. He loves experiencing new things and places, as well as sightseeing and going on adventures. Tommy enjoys being around other dogs and doesn’t mind having them around for company, but he doesn’t engage in play as he would rather do things on his own terms. He would do well as an only dog but would also do just fine with another canine companion.

Tommy is an 8-year-old male Shih-Tzu who doesn’t mind meeting new faces but can be a bit shy when lots of different things are happening all at the same time. Tommy warms up to new people very quickly and will be in your lap begging for cuddles and attention soon after meeting new people. As long as Tommy has his people, he is happy. He is crate trained, walks well on a leash, and is food motivated. He is a very intelligent boy who wants nothing more than a home to call his own and a family he can love wholeheartedly.

On Monday we shared with you our 16 new toy poodle arrivals. Today, we're sharing a few of the "after" photos as we begin the work of grooming, vetting and preparing for forever homes. Can you say beautiful?! 🐩😍

Here's the scoop - over the next 3 weeks we hope to have all these sweet pups ready for their forever homes. So we're opening up applications now. Friends, these are breeder surrendered dogs that have never lived in homes. EVERYTHING you teach them will be new. Here is what we're looking for in applicants:

- Prior experience with dogs (sorry, but no first time dog owners for these pups)
- Another small dog in the home OR someone home during the day with plenty of time
- No children under 12
- Understanding that these dogs are all young adults (under 7) and a commitment to long-term care

Meet Carolina Poodle Rescue’s adoptable Abby!
Abby is a 4 year old Standard Poodle! She was a breeder release and is looking for a home with a large doggy sibling to learn from. She is a sweet girl who needs to learn the ways of the house pet. She would be happiest with someone home during the day, but she could handle being left with her dog pal as long as there’s a lunch break with her people. She does not understand cats or children and would not be good with those under 10. Patience and a consistent routine will help this gal, who doesn’t know much about life as a companion. She is already decent on a leash, and she loves treats, so the training she needs should be a breeze.

Did we mention we're keeping our caregivers on our toes?!

Meet Carolina Poodle Rescue’s adoptable Luna!
Luna is a 6 year old Golden Retriever! She is looking for a home with a securely fenced yard and a confident canine companion to help her gain confidence of her own. She needs another dog to model what it means to be a pet and help her figure out the routine in her new home. Young children or high energy would not be best for Luna. She needs people who can respect her boundaries and be patient while she gets comfortable in her new surroundings. Sweet and shy, Luna will need time to develop trust. She is happy around other dogs her size, and she will start to seek human attention as she grows more comfortable. However, she has not had much socialization yet, and she will need help learning about people. She enjoys exploring the great outdoors and doing her own thing. She is good on a leash, but could use work on this and other basic skills.

Meet Carolina Poodle Rescue’s adoptable Benny!

Benny is a 3 year old Standard Poodle! He has a great personality, but doesn’t have much life experience, so he is looking for an owner who really knows dogs. He needs another large and confident dog as a sibling in his home to show him the ropes. This young guy thrives on routine and does well with positive reinforcement, so training should be a great time for all. Benny is very sweet and ready to build trust with the right people. Right now, he doesn’t know any basic commands and is learning to walk on a leash. Luckily, Benny already knows the crate is his safe place and is crate trained. He gets along well with other dogs, but he likes to take all new experiences slow. A nice fenced yard would be perfect, as he loves spending time outside and needs to be safe.

Meet Adoptable Ricky!
Ricky is a young male Beagle. He came to CPR in early March as a stray.
Ricky is all things hound - happy, loyal, playful, and ready to adventure. This boy LOVES people and loves them hard. So much so he will scale any fence to get to you. Ricky is looking for a home with lots of activity to keep his body and mind occupied. He would love another canine companion, but it isn't a requirement. Ricky would do well with children over 7.
Ricky was found as a stray by one of our team members. Sadly no one responded to advertisements of this lost boy so in rescue he will stay until the right forever home is found.
Ricky is like most other beagles; this boy absolutely loves to go, go, go! Ricky loves to receive lots of attention from his people and loves to play with other canine friends. Ricky would benefit from a ton of exercise outside of the home, such as going on runs or hikes.
Ricky would also highly benefit from brain stimulating activities, such as lick mats, snuffle mats, treat puzzles, etc.
Though Ricky was found as a stray, he has a huge heart for the people he loves most. He does, however, need a bit of work on his leash skills and basic commands. Since he is very food motivated, training him should be quite easy. Ricky is simply looking for a home where he can relax, learn to be a pet, and live life to the fullest.

Meet Carolina Poodle Rescue’s adoptable Chester!
Chester is a 2 year old Standard Poodle! He was surrendered by his breeder, so he has not lived the life of a companion animal. Everything you teach him will be new. Another dog is needed for Chester to learn from, and he needs experienced people to be his new family. His ideal home would have plenty of mental and physical exercise, but in a low-traffic environment where not too many surprises lie around the corner. Chester will build confidence through solid relationships with his human and dog friends in addition to positive reinforcement training. This is a shy guy who is nervous around new people. However, it’s easy to win his heart if you have treats and love to trade. Dogs his size and smaller are cool with him, and he will begin to trust over time. He is eager to learn and ready to explore new surroundings. His crate is his safe place, and one in his forever home will help him feel comfortable. One day, he may be a great adventure buddy for hikes and the life.

Meet Carolina Poodle Rescue’s adoptable Trixie!
Trixie is a 4-year-old Great Dane! This gentle giant is ready to be a pet. Small dogs, cats, and other small animals would not be a good mix, but she would be happy as your one and only or with a large male dog. Children who have grown up with dogs would also be fine with her. This sweetheart loves people, and she does not want her attention stolen. She gets along VERY well with male Danes, and females are okay once she decides they’re not going to soak up the attention she deserves from her people. She has been a mama, and she’s ready to put that behind her and have some fun.

Update 10:30 pm. Mazey is in surgery. We have 8 pups that were born naturally. Five boys and three girls. We’re waiting and praying

This is Mazey..and she’s in trouble. We need help.
Mazey was taken in last week as an owner surrender due to life challenges. Our driver picked her up and was about an hour into her journey to the poodle farm when the owner texted a bombshell text .. Mazey was pregnant. Very pregnant. The owner said she had simply forgotten to tell us. Baby daddy.. a Great Pyrenees. Oh my. Ok deep breath. We’ve birthed babies before.
Mazey is just 19 months old. This is her second litter. An x-ray last week showed a LOT of little babies crowded together in one very, very big baby bump.
Mazey started labor early this morning and produced a beautiful white baby boy at 10:45 am. Normally they come quickly after that but not for Mazey. Each pup has been a challenge and even delivering the afterbirth is hard for her. By 5 pm, only 5 babies had made their entrance. We think there are 12. At least.
It was time to get help. We’re at our local emergency now and Mazey needs a c-section. Right now.
What price is life? In this case, it’s about $5,000. It’s a lot. We need our village. I’m asking for donations of $19, one for each month of this sweet girl’s life. If I can find 275 poodle and doodle lovers to donate $19, we’ve got her bill covered.

Harley Quinn has danced herself right into the heart of Caregiver, Ryleigh.
