FOCUS TRAINING

We need our dogs to growl so we know when they are close to their limit.

They are never a warning we should seek to remove but one we should be glad to hear. Because that’s what’s going to prevent things from escalating further 👍🐾

Rosie & Archie loved spending time playing games and getting lots and lots of cuddles and attention, they even shared a home made doggie ice cream when it got too hot. 🐶

ADOLESCENT COURSE!!

For Dogs ages 6 - 18 Months Old!

When dogs reach adolescence, you may notice a change in their behaviour -

* No longer listening
* Easily Distracted
* Training becomes harder and frustrating
* Change in social behaviour
* Showing signs of territorial behaviour
* Anxiety/ Nervousness

Just to name a few..

This course aims to provide you with the tools to help you and your dog through this stage using positive reinforcement techniques that make your dog feel good resulting in a stronger bond between you and your dog.

I’ve had lots of fun this week with my walk & train sessions and my 1:1’s, even managed to include a squad walk this morning with Norman and his pals!

We had a great session in puppy class Monday evening too ( didn’t take pics 🙈) looking forward to our next session.

A trusted member of our team will stay with your pet overnight in your home and stick as closely as we can to your pets usual routine. This creates minimal disruption to their life so their meal times and walks are when they are used to having them.

We will provide not only walks but mental stimulation via enrichment games to keep your dogs busy and distracted to ensure they feel relaxed and happy while you are away.

Need help with general obedience training? We also provide training during our stay aswell, using positive reinforcement techniques to keep your dogs training consistent for when you return home.

I would like to introduce you all to Regan. She is as passionate about dogs as I am and having had a range of different breeds Regan has a good understanding of their needs and temperaments. She has lots of experience in looking after and caring for dogs.

Regan is currently studying to become a dog trainer, doing various courses in dog behaviour and body language 🐶 she has shadowed me on several classes and is keen to develop her skills and help train assistant dogs one day.

PREDICTABLE PATTERNS - Why do patterns matter?

* The brain is designed to search for patterns to predict / anticipate the environment / social interaction

* The world feels safer, more predictable / easier to understand when a pattern is identified / created

Just like other animals - Dogs are experts at looking for / finding predictable patterns

* Predictive patterns allows the brain to conserve energy which lowers anxiety

* Patterns create structure / stability / trust / security

* Patterns helps dog find meaning / provide a frame work of how to respond in different situations

❗️ IMPORTANT MESSAGE ❗️

Please avoid walking your dog on Adlington Park, there have been reports of somebody throwing rat poison down!!

As you know I use this park on a regular basis for my training classes with permission from the council so I am absolutely horrified that this has happened. All my customers are responsible dog owners and always pick up after their dogs.

Sadly some dog owners are not as responsible and do not pick up after their dogs but this is not the way to go about it! Throwing poison down in the hope that you kill all the dogs in the area is an act of evil!!

This has been reported to the Police and Local Council.

Please be vigilant when out walking your dog as it’s likely Adlington Park isn’t the only area hit.

Signs or poisoning in dogs:

* Weakness and lethargy.
* Vomiting or coughing blood.
* Nose bleeds.
* Bleeding from the gums.
* Bleeding when toileting
* Blood in dog p**p.
* Breathing difficulties (caused by bleeding into the lungs)

If your dog is suffering from any of the above after picking something up they will need immediate veterinary attention.

In regards to my training classes - I will message each WhatsApp group / 1:1 sessions individually with a new location. As I am sure Adlington Park was not the only area hit I will be scouting local areas today to make sure they are safe.

KEEP YOUR DOG SAFE AND GO NATURAL!

I highly recommend using Billy No Mates for flea / tick treatment.

According to recent research, chemical pet flea and tick treatments are toxic to the environment and to some pets, and encouraging resistance in fleas, becoming less effective over time.

* Pyrethrins are one of the most common ingredients used in flea and tick control products for pets today. They work by disrupting the normal function of an insect's nerve cell, causing it to fire impulses non-stop — ultimately leading to the insect's death.

👉But what effects can this have on your dog?

* Chemical based flea treatments can be toxic to dogs - The most common signs of toxicity from pyrethrum-based flea products are muscle tremors and excessive salivation.

* Common signs of toxicity from flea control products containing organophosphates are diarrhea, vomiting, difficulty breathing, small pupils, muscle tremor, weakness or falling over, and drooling.

* Organophosphate toxicity can be rapidly fatal, depending on the ingredients and dose the pet is exposed to.

Why risk it when natural treatments are just as effective? If not more effective.

I never use chemical products on my dog, I always go natural when it comes to flea and worm treatments.

As the weather is warming up it is prime time for fleas and ticks, I usually start adding this natural supplement to Norman’s food around April / May for about 4-6 weeks.

Norman has never an issue with fleas, natural really does work and is kind to your dog ❤️🐾

Mummy took me to the pet shop to buy the “stupid rabbits” some hay, so I pretended I was scared of the big moving doors so she bought me some treats to help build my confidence… Silly Mummy 😏
