Fara has been getting left out a bit recently as I’ve been so busy training everyone else’s dogs. So today we headed for the quay when it was nice and busy and practiced some distraction work/remaining calm.
Training doesn’t stop once the dog is “trained” - it’s a constant 🙌
PM me to get your dog booked in for training 🤩

Car/Boot manners
Take 1 or take 2? Which one is your dog. How many times have you wriggled your arm into the small gap when you open the boot to put the lead on or to try hold your dog back from jumping out?
Your dog sees another dog outside well that’s a disaster waiting to happen right - because they bolt out from the boot.
It doesn’t have to be a disaster!
A few weeks back I posted about doorway manners saying that it was an important one for me to teach, following on I cannot express how valuable car boot manners are.
In the first part of this video I allow fara to jump out of the boot the moment the lid is lifted.
In the second part I give a very clear stay command and I am able to open the boot fully and back away without her exiting.
Spend the time to teach the basics - it really pays off!
Consistent training!
Training your dog isn’t something you only do until you have achieved the desired behaviours.
Training is a constant for both the owner and the dog. If you’re not consistent then don’t expect your dog to be either.
Here’s a prime example: Fara is now 3 years old and I’m still training her on every walk. She’s currently learning some road awareness as it’s something I never worked on with her when she was younger. Shes been off lead on walks for 2 years now since I re-homed her but never around traffic. She’s learning to be off around busy roads and to stay at heel. I always leave the lead laying across her back just incase.
A few weeks ago I wouldn’t have been able to let her off lead at the roads, fast forward to now and she’s doing so well! We have a fair bit to go but it’s a work in progress 💞
💥 Bailey update 💥
I posted a few weeks back about Bailey the beagle coming in for training.
Let me start with I wish we had of taken a video of his first session 🤯. To say his owner Grainne had her work cut out for her with the homework I gave her was an understatement.
Baileys behaviour on lead and during walks was far from what I could have even imagined. At one point during the first session I thought to myself hmmm 🤔 maybe I’ve taken on a bit much with this one.
- Thrashing his body weight around
- Biting the lead
- Dragging and pulling in all directions
- Barking excessively at other dogs
- Eating everything he could reach
- Aggression towards me when he didn’t get his way (multiple times)
This extreme behaviour resulted in walks becoming something that everyone in the family dreaded. 😱
Well not anymore!
Fast forward to this week and after only 2 sessions (a few more still to go) with me and lots of homework in between from Grainne 💪:
Ladies and Gentlemen we have the new and improved Bailey 🌟
Fara and Winnie welcoming Loki the new guy to our pack walks today 💞
Loki is a four month old German Sheperd! He’s a friendly big pup who as expected just wants to play all the time. He’s a bit nervous with the other dogs still but he will gain more confidence with every walk.
I managed to get him off lead today once we got away from the road and he was a gent! Came back every time he was called and never strayed too far!
Welcome to the team pup 🐕
Cooper
Reasons for training:
-Excessive barking when someone passes the house or knocks on the door.
- Agressive when passing other dogs on lead/pulling on the lead.
Cooper and his owner Courtney have only had 2 sessions with me where we worked on changing his behaviour when people knock on the door and we also went on short walks passing other dogs to work on his fear and tension.
I asked Courtney earlier this week if she felt she needed me to come back for another session.
I have given her the tools to continue the training without me and to grow her bond with Cooper. She has said she now feels confident enough to try solo for a few weeks and see how they get along. She sent me this video taken yesterday of Cooper out on a walk, another dog is walking behind them and for the first time she didn’t have to stop to pull Cooper aside or cross the road to avoid the conflict.
So happy for you and I can’t wait to see his progress in the future. I’m only ever a text or a call away for advice.
