Wishing all our clients and family a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe holidays!
Love from me and Rumour, and our family.
There was a much anticipated arrival out at GeoDell. this morning! Another adorable distraction for all my school horse clients haha.
It took Rumour ten minutes to walk up the driveway yesterday because she had to keep stopping to snack on the beautiful fresh grass that popped up after the storm the other night! Hopefully we get a few more of those, the ground needs it!
Very happy to say Rumour is back in for light work! She had her first lesson back yesterday and seemed very happy to be back at work. We’re still going to take it easy until she is back to 100%, but she is looking and feeling so much better. It’s been a stressful couple of weeks, but she’s a tough girl 🙂 We’re both looking forward to welcoming our clients back over the week.
Thank you Nicole from GeoDell. and Mila from Hands on Horse for your help looking after Rumour while she was injured, and answering all my anxious questions 😂😅 And thank you to all my clients for your patience and understanding.
Just a quick update.
On Monday, Rumour slipped while lunging over some trot poles and landed on her side on the poles. We were incredibly lucky that she wasn’t seriously injured, but is understandably pretty stiff and sore. So she is enjoying a few days of rest and extra care. She is recovering well, and should be back to work soon, but we will be taking as long as she needs. I will be keeping everyone updated.
Thank you to all my clients who have been very supportive during this time. I have been passing on all your well wishes to the patient.
I tried to get a video of her getting her daily kisses, but apparently I’m not very good at framing haha.
Happy Horses’ Birthday, to Rumour and all the lovely horses in the southern hemisphere!
Rumour had a lovely ride and a spa day as we get ready for our Western Dressage competition this weekend. She got some liquorice and carrots in her feed as a special present.
-*- SKILL DEVELOPMENT -*-
Through focused practice and exercises, Koda and Pistol have been developing their canter transition. In previous lessons, Pistol was struggling to pick up the right-hand lead in canter. After establishing better flexion and bend, we introduced some basic laterals to help build her strength and balance. In our most recent lesson we used poles to establish a better rhythm in trot leading into the transition. With all of these skills developed, they achieved some wonderful, clean canter transitions on both reins. Koda was so happy with what she was able to achieve!
Even simple skills in riding can take time and hard work to develop. It's my job as a coach to give riders the skills and knowledge they need to get the best out of their horses. It's always so rewarding to see my clients willingly put in the work to achieve their goals.
Long time, no post! It's been a busy few months for me, with new clients and settling in to a regular schedule. Here's just a few highlights from the last few months. I need to get better at remembering to take photos/videos of lessons.
Thank you to all my wonderful clients, it's been a bit of daunting venture getting my business off the ground, and I'm so thankful for everyone who has trusted me with their riding journeys. I look forward to continuing to grow my business and keep helping folks to achieve their riding goals!
I still have some availability for lessons, as well as training and exercising services. Please feel free to contact me via Messenger or Email to enquire!
So very happy with Sam today! We finally nailed the canter transition, though he made me work for every stride!
Also introduced some early laterals into our workout now his fitness is improving. He needed some reminders that leg on doesn't always mean go faster, but we got some great moments of softness. Every ride I am feeling improvements from him, and today was a great result.
Thank you Shannon for staying after your lesson and filming my ride!
Waiting for the sun so we can get back to riding!
Also I have no excuse for how busy my hands are in this clip, but I wanted to share it regardless. It shows how important having a coach is, even if it's just to get that second set of eyes to pick up on your bad habits!
