Puppy Pre-School is about learning how to teach your dog- HOW TO TEACH YOUR PUP TO LIVE IN OUR CRAZY HUMAN WORLD.
There's 12 categories to socialization, grooming is one of them. Your dog WILL get a bath in its life, you WILL have to clean ear, clip nails. Doodles WILL have to get dried and go to a groomer. PLEASE socialize them to these experiences so they learn to be conditioned to accept it and not feel stress and anxiety about something that could have been prevented.
Next class is Saturday 1/27 at 10:45 AM

What is generalization and fluency of a behavior?
What are the 3 D’s
Can your dog do this?
Do you want your dog to do this ?
⬇️
👉🏼 If you’ve ever found yourself saying, “But he does it at home!” Do you wondering why your dog fails to respond correctly when working in a new environment? Have you acknowledged that your dog has not yet generalized the behavior to all contexts, and lacks fluency?
What does this mean?
👉🏼In dog training, generalization means that your dog can apply a behavior in any situations; he knows that “stay!” means he should stay whether he’s home, on a loud, crowded sidewalk in the rain, or in a grassy park with squirrels chattering in the trees. Fluency means the dog performs the desired behavior correctly, smoothly, and without hesitation.
Part of creating generalization and fluency is adding in the 3 D’s, distance, duration and distraction.

It's becoming excellent walking weather out there.... Who's been out more and longer than usual?
This is what boarding in my home looks like:
👉🏼 Every single student in my classroom says at a certain point in time “But they do this at home”
🤔Questions:
🐾 Do you want them to listen to you outside of the home?
🐾 Is your intent to never leave the house with them?
🐾 What is their current distraction level?
Tips:
👉🏼 If they can’t listen inside the home, don’t expect it to work outside the home
👉🏼 If they can’t listen in a familiar outside area like your backyard or driveway, don’t expect them to listen in a non-familiar area
👉🏼 If they can’t listen in low distracting environment, don’t except them to listen in a high distracting environment
⭐️ Set your dog up for success. Understand realistic expectations of your dog. Don’t skip the baby steps. It leads to frustration for both you and your dog. Need help?

A friendly reminder to not disturb your sleeping dogs. If they get spooked or startled, it can cause a poor reaction such as a bite.

BACK TOMORROW!!
🐶 It’s going to be quiet this week. We are officially on vacation and we’ll be in DO NOT DISTURB mode.🐾
🐶 Please continue to leave messages and they will be returned the following week.
We promise we won’t forget about you. 🐾
🐶 We’re taking this time to ponder, decompress and an attempt to relax. Enjoy your week, have fun, be safe and give your dog lots of cuddles 🐾
This is just not fair on so many levels
🦴 Off leash is ILLEGAL!!!
🦴 This dog cannot behave normally due to the association with the shock collar.
🦴 He knows that if he does ANYTHING at all, punishment will happen
🦴 He cannot walk away or practice avoidance if he wants distance or uncomfortable (which clearly he is)
🦴 He can’t get snap or growl or even get too excited when the off leash dog approaches him
🦴 Dog can go in his space and he cannot do anything about it… this is so unfair
👉🏼 What is the purpose of asking your dog to pause at the door?
🐕 Allowing your dog to rush the door can be dangerous for both you and your dog!
🐕 Both of you could get hurt if he reacts poorly to something you cannot see on the other side.
🐕 You could fall and get injured while loosing control of your dog.
🐶 Asking your dog to pause followed by a release through the door is NOT a dominance thing or a pack leader thing.
It’s not about teaching your dog that you go first because you’re the boss.
🐶 It’s simply manners. Plain and simple manners. Manners means:
🐾 Listen to what’s being asked
🐾 Having impulse control
🐾 Simple safety rules
