About 5 months ago Blue Lightning and his little cohort broke out of the buck pen and subsequently proceeded to break into the doe's area.
I'd hoped we got them out in time, but SURPRISE!!
The consequences of their little break-in became apparent on January 3rd when twin bucklings made their debut. We were not expecting kids until the first week of February, but ready or not, here they are and they're doing great!

The girls really enjoyed their mineral buffet today. I'm excited to see what these minerals do for my herd. Today their faves were zinc, iodine and A,D, & E.
Silver Lining thought she was slick. She snuck up and grabbed the bag of zinc and took off with it before I could ever get it in the feeder. 😆 Thank goodness she didn't rip the bag open. She definitely knew what she wanted. She headed right to it as soon as I put it out. Such a brat. 🤠

Silver Lining has only ever had 1 kid. But the 3rd time's the charm! She showed out and delivered triplets all on her own.

Well, she did it y'all! A few hours ago Shady Lady gave birth to twins, both sporting the most adorable lil wattles. Her red/white buckling weighed a whopping 8lbs4oz, while her black/blue doeling weighed in at 7lbs4oz. This was just her second time to kid and first time for twins, but she did it all by her lonesome. Kids clean and up nursing within minutes.. she's just blown me away. Such a good mama. But then again, I expect nothing less from a Kiko. 🙃
