Everyone meet Koki! Koki first came to us quite unwell with a disease called Psittacosis, which is caused by a bacterium called Chlamydia psittaci. Now we know what you’re all thinking... no, it’s NOT an STI. There are a lot of different species of the Chlamydia bacteria that can affect lots of different animals and Chalmydia psittaci generally causes disease of the nose and eyes and trachea (also known as windpipe). The disease can also spread to the internal organs, especially the liver and make the bird very ill. Another really important thing to know about this disease is that it can spread to people with close contact to an infected bird. If this happens you need to go see your human doctor! Thankfully, we successfully treated Koki with a course of antibiotics and he’s fully recovered and came in to see us for a pedicure (yep we really do everything 😂, and we love it).

Happy Monday everyone! We hope your day is filled with as much cuteness as ours!
This is sweet little Lexi who has had some ongoing problems with her a**l glands. Ongoing a**l gland issues can be due to food intolerances so we’re trialing her on a special diet.
