Sarah Rassa moved back to Texas with her husband in 2014. Sarah is a Licensed Paralegal, a Certified Fi****ms Instructor; has a Liberal Arts degree from the University of Southern Maine and a degree in Animal Science

from the University of New Hampshire where her focus of study was Animal Behavior and Training. Over the past 20 years Sarah has held positions in the veterinary field as a Veterinary Technician, Disaster Relief Assistance/Rescue Volunteer, Veterinary Practice Manager and Dog Trainer.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an emergency use authorization (EAU) for New World screwworm (NWS). The EUA is for a topical spray for use in various species.

The March 10 EUA is for the F10 Antiseptic Wound Spray with Insecticide (benzalkonium chloride, polyhexanide, and cypermethrin topical solution) for the prevention and treatment of NWS infestations in cattle, sheep, goats, deer, and wild and pet birds, as well as captive wild, exotic, and zoo mammals. A new study in JAVMA finds a correlation between early spay/neuter (3 - 6 months) with overweight/obesity in some large breeds, especially Labradors and golden retrievers of both s*xes. Small breeds were not affected, and the results varied by s*x in boxers, bulldogs and German Shepherds.

Food for thought, hey? Kudos to the authors for doing this study; it is just one study, always reason for caution, but it’s a large sample size (over 200,000 dogs) and deserves attention.

🚨 K-9 HONDO UPDATE 🚨

The Palestine Police Department is providing an update on our search for K-9 Hondo — he is still missing.

Hondo was last seen the night of Sunday, August 3, 2025, in the area of Ft Houston Drive and Shadow Wood Drive. Since then, we have followed up on multiple reported sightings, but none have led to his safe return.

Hondo is microchipped and is not wearing a collar.
