There’s a lot of comments and speculation surrounding foal pricing. Let’s break it down a little, we will use Gasohol’s (black mare in the photo) upcoming 2022 baby as an example…

1 - General mare care. We trim her, teeth get done, annual shots, chiropractor treatments and daily pen cleaning with feed. Farrier care annually for trims is just over $550 annually. Teeth $300. Annual shots/worming $350. Chiro 4x a year $500ish. Pen cleaning, say $5 daily x 365= $1825. Now add half a bale a day for the trio (foal, baby and mom) $5 a day ($10 a bale) x 365, $1825. If you produce your own hay & don’t have hired hands, I applaud you. 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 $𝟓𝟑𝟓𝟎

2 - Did you pick your dream stallion?! For us, we choose junior stallion “𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔𝒎𝒆𝒏” (Ivory James x TR Dashing Badger LTE$850,###). Of course, the stud fee for 2021 is $1,250🇺🇸, so add 30% on anything from the states since we are 🇨🇦. Here’s where the fun begins!! Shipping to 🇨🇦, from Texas is $650🇺🇸. Plussss you get charged $260 by your vet to send it back!!! 🤣😭. By this point your credit card is maxed. You’re crying. Husband is questioning your life decisions. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 & 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 $𝟐𝟕𝟑𝟎CAN

3 - Time for the vet!! We love Quinn & Arna at 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝑬𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑹𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒉. Load your mare & foal, 6 hour round trip for us. Add $100 in fuel. Unfortunately with Covid the permit have been taking up to 10+ days for approval… we were behind the ball this season so our girls stayed a tad longer then planned. Vet bill was a bit over $2000. Whew 😅 We got to see our little peanut on the ultrasound screen!! Now we have to add in the vet trips to do ultrasound checks, probably 3 over the course of a pregnancy. Around $600 including the call out fees. 𝐕𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 $𝟐𝟕𝟎𝟎

✨ We don’t even know where to begin.. this weekend was among many firsts for Ben & I. The barrel racing community never disappoints!! We struggled Friday to get the ground right, lots of water and harrowing - tweaking our harrow depths for the base. We sure didn’t sleep much Friday night, Ben was out at 5:30 prepping the ground Saturday for the girls. We appreciate everyone’s feedback on solutions and we found the magic just in time for a phenomenal race today!! ☀️ The girls lit it up in the arena today with some smoking times, and what a show out for pole bending!

Everyone did their part for parking close together, and left the area spotless open leaving. We were speechless after ya’ll left, there wasn’t a single piece of garbage left behind!!!! You ladies rocked it this weekend.

We can’t forgot our Youth Champs!! Shelby LaTosky & Camryn Petty. Both these girls have been hauling in to practice here - wicked runs ladies!! Our PeeWee winner sisters, Autumn & Violet Sismey - smoking runs from these future rockstars! Lastly, our Pole Bending Queen - Nikki Harris!! Well deserved wins this weekend!! 💕💕
