Clutch update

24-01

Pairing was a pastel orange ghost pied to an orange dream pied het hypo. Clutch was 6 eggs. 3 eggs were not fertile (no veins/embryo). 2 of the fertilized eggs went bad 20 days into incubation. The last baby hatched out as was a twin. The second embryo didn’t develop but was in the egg. We were shocked this little one made it.

Out of the egg it was 17 grams. Today it’s up to 30 grams and has eaten 2 ASF fuzzies and 1 ASF hopper.
So far so good. We still have a long way to go but it (haven’t sexed it yet) is developing well. Likes to eat so that is a very good sign.

The baby is a pastel Orange dream het orange ghost (line of hypo).

Clutch update.

Clutch 24-02 started with 11 eggs from a VPI Axanthic pinstripe het pied to and Orange dream pied het clown.

2 babies didn’t make it. One was deceased in the egg and the second was strangled by the umbilicus. After hatching out it died within 12 hours. Disheartening but being transparent.

All babies will be shed tested for het clown when they shed next.

Our vpi pinstripe 66% poss het pied has proven to be pied. 2 babies still hanging out in there eggs but overall super happy with this clutch. Pairing was VPI Axanthic Pinstripe het pied to an orange dream pied het clown.

We are planning on shed testing all the babies for het clown.

Will post updates after they shed.

Smallest ball python we have hatched to date. This baby weighs 17grams and was a twin. The second embryo didn’t develop fully.

Pairing was a pastel orange ghost pied to and orange dream pied het hypo. I think this baby is a pastel orange dream pied het hypo. Will need to see how it looks after it sheds and grows a bit.

Clutch #2 was laid this morning. 11 healthy eggs. VPI AXANTHIC pinstripe 66% poss het pied paired to and Orange Dream pied het clown. Hoping to prove this girl out to be het pied and possibly make an OD pinstripe pied het vpi and het clown. Now we wait.

Clutch 1 for 2024 laid today. 6 eggs. Three have weak veins so they may not be viable. We will see.

Pairing is a pastel orange ghost pied to an orange dream pied het for hypo.

Goal: pastel orange dream hypo pieds. 16 July is day 55 so now we start the waiting process.

Last clutch for 2023 season was laid this morning. Pastel spotnose female paired to 2 different clown male. Male 1 super pastel lesser clown. Male 2 pastel redstripe spotnose clown. We will see 22-27 January 2024 what we get.

Clutch 11 is out of their eggs. Pairing was a black pastel pied to a mojave pied. I think there are 2 black pastel mojave pieds and a normal pied.

This result was one I wanted to see. Champagne lavender albino het vpi axanthic. Pairing was a champagne het lavender albino to a vpi axanthic het lavender. Will post a full clutch picture after the rest shed. 2 lavender champagne het vpi, 2 lavender albino het vpi, a champagne het vpi 66%poss het lavender and a het lavender 66% poss het vpi.

On top of a clutch being laid a clutch hatched today. 4 eggs from a lavender albino het vpi axanthic to a vpi axanthic het lavender albino.

Came home from Memorial Day weekend camping trip to find 9 pearly white eggs from a pastel to a DG spider. Anyone looking to get into the Dg project these all will be het DG.

Late start to 2023 season but we have our first clutch of 2023. Super mojave to super ghi chocolate. All babies will be ghi mojave or ghi mojave chocolate. 6 eggs, 1 without veins.

Interesting read for those that like the spider morph and believe that the wobble is neurological. This study (limited in size and scope) concludes that the spider morph has a structural anomaly in the skull near the bones of the ear that may be the cause of the wobble/star gazing in ball pythons.
