Breeding ,showing ,selling top quality call ducks in the south west of the uk
🐓🐓🐓🐓👀 for a New🏡
Last year a good friend of mine supplied me with a few Gold Top hens.
This particular breed of hen in my opinion are one of the best for hatching call ducks, they sit like rocks and make great mothers. 💪🏻😁
He has just informed me that there are about a dozen up for new post codes this year and available now.
I know these hens won’t be around for long.

But I was rewarded with one of the Butterscotch drakes giving me his best pose. 🦆🦆
We think, we may of made our new housing for our 🦆🦆 a little bit too comfortable for them 🤣🤣 someone has decided to start laying which is very early, this year 🪺🪺🪺
Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 this cold weather ❄️❄️🥶 will put a stop to them.

Wow we have been blown away with the amount of positive interest in our setup, so I thought I would do a quick post on the new sheds, because we have had so many questions, so here is a quick run through of it.
First of all the water clarity, this is because we are fortunate to have 3 springs that run through our pond.
The nest boxes, we have 5 nest boxes for the ducks and one for the feed but inside the main roof we have individual, lift up lids so we don’t disturb a duck that is sat on eggs.
After she has sat for a period of time and she is settled we put the partitions in the runs, with a slide in door at the front.
This is done, not only to keep the duck in but it stops the drake from hassling her plus keeps the rats out.
Then we have astro turf and a shallow water tray for the duck and ducklings after they hatch.
From there they get transported to a bigger pen.
That's the theory, I hope this has answered some of questions that we have received 😁

This year Dave and I decided to run ours in flocks rather than having them penned individually, so we gave Cambrook Construction a bit of a challenge.
I told Chris I wanted 6 nesting boxes with partitions which I can put into the sheds as the duck go broody, they needed to be on legs and i would do the rest lol 💪🏻🤣
So here we have the 5 new sheds with the ducks penned and ready for this years season.

This time of year is one of the best to see the young ducks molting out to reveal their new colours and the older ducks maturing well
One of the best sights to see is a mother and her young, even the gold tops are proving their worth

Not call ducks but we have finally managed to hatch some lovely gold tops ready for sitting next year
Nice little magpie sat on a clutch, fingers crossed they hatch ok
This is the best and most exciting time of year to watch the gold tops and calls themselves, they are sitting on eggs now the waiting begins

Sunday treat time at the pond , The ducks love abit of fresh pond weed. Even in flock down they deserve some treats
