Foster Dog Days Meet our current foster dog!

11/10/2023

We received a great update and video of Panny today! I miss her "smile" but we are so happy to see her well loved.

She's doing really well. I see her tail wag more and more and she's getting increasingly more comfortable asking for the love and attention she wants. She's even starting to exhibit the play pounce but still doesn't understand the follow through on that, lol.

She's happy. ❤️

Hazel was a perfect passenger on the way to her veterinary appointment this morning. She was spayed and had seven teeth extracted 🦷 Hazel doesn’t know it yet, but now she will be able to meet her new Mom and go to her forever home tomorrow ❤️

I generally stand at the same place with my laptop on the kitchen island. Hazel has had the run of the house more often lately (still with no accidents) and I knew I’d heard her exploring a few minutes before. I turned around to find that she had been laying behind me for some time. Hazel is still nervous with new people and experiences but now consistently chooses to be near us ❤️

Hazel is a "breeder release." In her case, this means that her 10 years of life have been spent in a barn, having puppies. As a result, the world is very scary. Often she prefers to be in her crate; though she is starting to follow me around the house and will occasionally approach me for attention. Doorways are always hard for these dogs -- she ALMOST made it out this time. Hazel (and all of our breeder release dogs) will need extra time and patience; they are adjusting to an entirely new existence. This life will be infinitely better, but it is still a change. And change is never easy. So until she is ready to do it on her own, we will happily continue to carry her through the door ❤️

Hazel is a sweet, 10 year old Poodle breeder release. She weighs approximately 11 pounds and has the softest, curly coat. Up until this point, Hazel has spent her life raising litters of puppies in a barn; despite this bleak existence, she is a happy girl. Hazel is still learning that people are kind and remains nervous in new situations.

Hazel sleeps quietly through the night in her crate and often chooses to be in it even when the door is open. She has had no accidents in the house and seems to know that outside is for pottying. Hazel is not destructive and has not chewed inappropriately. We have many house plants and are not "puppy proofed" but she has shown no interest in anything other than following our dogs, looking at herself in a full length mirror and curling up in her crate. She is beginning to follow us around the house and prefers to lie down in an area that allows her to see what we are doing.

Everything about being in a house (and with us) is new to her; all of the sounds, smells and routines are unfamiliar. She will need continued help learning to walk on a leash, navigate stairs and pass through doorways. These things are often scary for dogs like Hazel but will change with time, patience and love.

Apply to adopt Hazel through Fluffy Dog Rescue http://rescue.fluffydog.net/how-to-adopt.html Her adoption fee is $450. Fluffy Dog Rescue does not adopt to homes with children under 6 and only adopts to WI, IL and the Twin Cities (MN).

Meet Lyra! This adorable little girl was born on June 16th at our facility and has grown up with lots of love and attention from our volunteers. Her Mom, Twilight, is a 45 pound Aussie/Bernese mix and we were told that her dad was a Pomsky. Lyra was the smallest of 11 puppies in the litter and at one point, we weren't sure she would make it -- but this pup is a fighter! She is quirky and tenacious and tons of fun. Her siblings have all been adopted and Lyra recently moved to a foster home.

Lyra is in a pen at night and when she is unsupervised, as we are working on house training. We use potty pads and frequent trips outside. She is a smart girl and is catching on fast! Like most puppies, she enjoys chewing and is very curious.

She is sweet and snuggly and is learning all about living in a home -- televisions, vacuum cleaners and noisy music with dancing teenagers. She has never shown any nervousness and is always ready to explore!

Lyra gets along well with other dogs and will fit well into almost any type of family. Like all puppies, she will need consistency, patience and love and will reward you with a lifetime of companionship.

Apply to adopt Lyra through Fluffy Dog Rescue http://rescue.fluffydog.net/how-to-adopt.html Her adoption fee is $750. Fluffy Dog Rescue does not adopt to homes with children under 6 and only adopts to WI, IL and the Twin Cities (MN)

Meet Daffodil! This 3 year old, 30 pound, Aussiedoodle, was a breeder release from an Amish farm. She is sweet and calm and, quite possibly, the easiest foster we have EVER had. Her hair is short right now, as she was shaved when she was surrendered; however, it's the most interesting color-- silver and black, with many variations and patterns. I can't wait to see what it looks like as it gets longer.

Dilly, as we call her, is crated at night and when we leave the house. She has only been here for a few days, and has likely never lived in a home, so we do this for her own safety. She has never been destructive or had any potty accidents. She is low energy and spends most of her time napping or laying in a sunny spot in the yard. Dilly will need continued work with a leash, but she may not ever be a dog that enjoys walking for miles each day. We've not yet seen her play with toys but often that changes with time.

She is still learning about all of the new sounds of a home; including two teenage girls and all of the noise that they bring! Occasionally a loud noise or unexpected movement will startle her but she is adjusting well. If you are considering adding Dilly to your family, please read about breeder releases on our "Resources" page.

Apply to adopt Dilly through Fluffy Dog Rescue http://rescue.fluffydog.net/how-to-adopt.html Her adoption fee is $750. Fluffy Dog Rescue does not adopt to homes with children under 6 and only adopts to WI, IL and the Twin Cities (MN)

Meet Chalmers! This adorable, 3 1/2 month old, puppy was part of a litter that was rescued from Alabama with their mother. He is the last to be adopted and is patiently awaiting his forever home. His Mom is a Pointer mix and Dad’s breed is unknown. Chalmers currently weighs 20 pounds.

Chalmers is crated at night and when he is unsupervised, as we are working on house training. He's had a few accidents, as expected, but is catching on fast! He does his business promptly once we are outside and immediately looks to us for his treat. Because he is so young, he is not able to go all night without a potty break. But again, he's quick and goes right back to sleep. During the day he might whine for a few minutes upon going into his crate (especially if he knows we are nearby), but is then happy to keep himself occupied with bones and toys. Like most puppies, he enjoys chewing and is very curious.

Chalmers is sweet and snuggly and surprisingly calm for a puppy of his age. He has the cutest wrinkles and is an excellent napping companion. He is learning all about living in a home -- televisions, vacuum cleaners and noisy music with dancing teenagers. He has never shown any nervousness and is always ready to explore!

Chalmers gets along well with other dogs and will fit well into almost any type of family. Like all puppies, he will need consistency, patience and love and will reward you with a lifetime of companionship.

Apply to adopt Chalmers through Fluffy Dog Rescue http://rescue.fluffydog.net/how-to-adopt.html His adoption fee is $350. Fluffy Dog Rescue does not adopt to homes with children under 6 and only adopts to WI, IL and the Twin Cities (MN)

We just received this great update on Panny! We still miss this little girl but are so happy that she found her perfect home ❤️

She looooooves being outside and enjoys trachea and pig ear treats to chew on. She's still learning how to play with dog toys and Google. She just gets confused when he tries most of the time but she's not scared of him/that, which is great.

Ultimately she just wants to be by her Mama. She's a little love bug and I adore her. I'm so grateful you said yes to us. ❤️

Right now I'm calling her my little house elf as she looks like Dobby from Harry Potter with her summer nakee cut. 😅

Panny was spayed yesterday and had to have another tooth extracted. She’s still not quite herself— fortunately, school was canceled because of the snow and she will have someone to snuggle with all day ❤️
