Paddock in the Pines The only woodland paddock in Lincolnshire! 1.7 acres of enclosed woodland with 6ft fencing! Welcome to Paddock in the Pines!
(7)

The only, fully woodland, dog paddock in Lincolnshire! Paddock in the Pines is run by Alex at Scouting for Dogs, situated in the beautiful and peaceful vicinity that is, Broughton woods, North Lincolnshire! Paddock in the Pines is a 1.7 acre, fully enclosed dog paddock with 6ft fencing - giving you peace of mind and security when letting your dog’s run free! Our woodland paddock is the perfect loc

ation for good sniffs and mental stimulation with lots of activities to keep your dog’s brain busy! Being surrounded by woodland, we have the added bonus of it being much cooler than an open field but please be aware that you must still take extra, and sensible precautions in the summer heat. Bookings and payments are to be made online. Once your booking has been made, you will receive confirmation, directions, and a copy of our t’s & c’s. Please always bring your own water and bowls for your dogs to ensure there is always fresh water available as there is no access to running water in the paddock. Water containers will be provided and although these will be checked regularly, please make Scouting for Dogs aware if they are running low. Please note – by making payment, you are agreeing to having read and understood & that you will comply to our terms and conditions.

This week is due to be very warm, with temperatures increasing across the week.

As ever, your dog's welfare is our top priority, and we will be in touch with clients individually to rearrange sessions if we are due to be working outside in particular.

Please be careful exercising your dogs. Some dogs will not slow down despite the heat (looking at you Mr Monty!), and just walking in such weather is a risk.

🐾 Early morning is best for walks- evenings are often still too warm.
🐾 Shaded woodlands work best- how about Paddock in the Pines if you need a secure space.
🐾 Don't encourage running by throwing balls.
🐾 Carry water and stop regularly to offer it- even if it feels cool enough.
🐾 Sit and 'do nothing' together rather than march round.
🐾 Keep on lead if they are going to try and do alot of running, or break up the running with slower paced movement.
🐾 Some breeds are more at risk than others- bulldogs, pugs, french bulldogs, chow chows, and shih tzus (or anything else with short noses) are all more likely to suffer with heatstroke than dogs who have normal length noses.
🐾 Heavy coated dogs will get hotter than shorter coated dogs.
🐾 At home, offer cooling mats and access to cooler rooms of the house, particularly when you leave them at home.
🐾 Paddling pools/hose games: Be careful with playing with water too much- if your dog ingests 'too much' water, this can lead to water intoxication. Short supervised games are fun though (if your dog likes water, not all dogs will appreciate being 'encouraged' into a paddling pool so please know your dog's preferences and respect them).

Be sensible, if you're hot, your dog probably is too, and they have a coat they can't remove...

❗If you're concerned your dog is overheating (lethargy, trouble standing, excessive panting, drooling/foaming, vomiting, disorientation, unable to stand, uncoordinated, seizure etc etc), contact your vet as an emergency.❗

Surprisingly, there are a few slots left available for this weekend!

Beat the heat and book a cool, shaded paddock session for your dogs - don't walk them out in the sun this weekend, it's going to be a warm one! 🌞

We also have a couple of spaces left on our Stay & Play tomorrow morning if anyone is interested! 🐶

Did anyone see the black, metal pole on the jump posts this weekend, please?

I've circled the entire paddock, and it's gone walk abouts...

Can you help the dogs at Humberside Police? 👮‍♀️

You may have seen that their dog unit has been using Paddock in the Pines for specialist training and exercise, but they are in need of baggy, leather jackets and baggy hoodies/ jackets (ideally zip up ones) to be able to further their training.

If anyone has anything that you'd like rid of, please let us know and we can arrange collection!

Thank you 🐶🚔

⚠️ Rant incoming! Sorry, it's a long one!

I'm sorry to have to have another rant about disrespectful people, and I'm very aware it's a small minority. Please remember I am not tarring everyone with the same brush, I'm just hoping those few people who think it's acceptable to do as they please will see this and hopefully, will be ashamed of themselves, but thank you always, to everyone who continues to respect the paddock, the land, the equipment and our rules. I see you and appreciate you 💛

Over the last few weeks, I have had to stop myself TWICE from closing the paddock due to how people have left it.

So, for those of you who have no common decency or respect, let me remind you of a few things...

🚫 You do not have permission to move ANY of my equipment. This includes posts, tyres, planks, jumps, bench, chairs... ANYTHING!

In the last couple of weeks, someone has taken it upon themselves to pull out my posts and throw them across the paddock, leaving them laid in the middle of the ground.

Someone else decided they were going to rearrange equipment and created an incredibly dangerous and unsteady platform using the plank, tyres and a detached tree stump (whoever this was, how dare you leave something so dangerous for someone else's dog to potentially use and injure themselves on, do better).

Yesterday, someone decided to empty all of the sand from my tyre sandpits and wasted bags full of sand. FYI, the tyres are not there for you to show off and flip them (it's not even hard, so pack it in thinking you're the Hulk. It's embarrassing). In fact, none of it is there for your entertainment!!! It's there for the dogs entertainment! LEAVE MY STUFF ALONE! I'll be expecting you to replace the sand, by the way...

⛔️ This one just creates more work for me, but please stop removing the water bowls from the stands and taking & leaving the bowls at the other end of the paddock and allowing your dogs to dig the water in them.

Firstly, I don't enjoy hide and seek with water bowls. Secondly, the reason I keep them in the stands is to do my best to keep them clean and SAFE for your dogs to drink from.

When you move them and leave them in the paddock, other dogs are peeing on them, and they get filled with mud and insects. If you would like to have a portable water bowl with you whilst using the paddock, please take your own.

⚠️ Any equipment here in the paddock is only for the use of dogs. Please always keep your eyes on the dogs when they're using anything, and do not allow them to dig or chew anything.

Please, for heaven's sake, stop standing on equipment and breaking it!! I've had my seesaw broken with someone's foot going straight through it, and my brand new purple stand was left in pieces. I've also had dogs chew through my jumps and dig multiple holes, which create hazards for both dogs and humans. It's not acceptable.

💩 I can't believe I have to even mention this, but it is your responsibility to pick your dogs poo up AND your litter.

Yesterday, there was a poo left by the gate before I even entered the paddock (FYI your dogs are meant to be on-lead at all times when outside of the paddock, so I'm under the impression that you chose to ignore your dog pooing and left it for someone to stand in). There was also a huge poo left right inside the gate this morning. I've no idea how that was missed.

If you see a poo, please pick it up. Even if it doesn't belong to your dog. I'm sure every single one of us will have missed one at some point, so let's work together a little bit more to help keep the area clean and tidy. And please stop leaving your starbucks cups on the floor and the mounds of sweet wrappers I find most days!🙏

⛔️ Please, do not turn up to your paddock slot early and ensure you are leaving on time.

Please do not get out of your car until the booking before you have left. We have multiple reactive dogs using our paddock as a safe space, and you are putting yourself, your dogs, and other people and their dogs at risk by walking up to the paddock early. REMINDER - YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO WALK ANYWHERE THROUGH THE LAND OTHER THAN THE TRACK TO THE PADDOCK.. so if you come early, no, you can't just 'go for a walk to kill time'

⚠️ Take your dog toys home with you, please!

I have found multiple tiny balls and other toys left behind that are not suitable for all dogs. I completely appreciate the gesture of leaving them for other dogs, but please remember that what is suitable for your dog could cause serious harm to another. It's not worth the risk.

So, moving forward, let's work together!

If you notice a poo or any litter, please pick it up, whether it belongs to you or your dog or not. I pick up plenty of other 💩 when I hire other people's paddocks, and although you shouldn't have to and are not expected to, it helps each other out.

If you notice something out of the ordinary or something is damaged, please, please report it to me. Everything that has been damaged so far has been left for me to find. The people who caused the damage have never had the decency to make me aware.

Accidents happen, we're only human, I get that, but by leaving damaged equipment, you are risking injuring either another person or a dog. It's not acceptable.

And to those who think it's OK to do as you please because you paid to be here, you're not welcome back.. unless you're coming to replace the things you've damaged or wasted, of course!! 🤬

Please remember to take your own water to the paddock, especially this weekend, and on warmer days 🌞

As we do not have access to running water, trying to keep the containers topped up during warmer weather is proving difficult, especially on busier days, like weekends.

The water containers will run out this weekend, so as per our t's & c's, please don't rely on there being some already up there, and ensure you are taking some with you 🙏

Thank you 🌲💛

Don't be a fool, keep your dogs cool.... at the paddock 🤭

But in all seriousness, avoid the heat this week and keep your dogs safe in the shade 🌲 our dogs have not had a chance to climatise to the heat and will struggle with overheating, it's not worth the risk!

There are plenty of slots available throughout the week. The temperature was just right in there today, even at the hottest part of the day! 🌞

⚠️ Polite reminder ⚠️

Please can everyone be careful and conscious of leftover food in the paddock (human AND dog food).

When scattering treats for your dogs, please ensure they have all been eaten before you leave. And if they haven't, please bin them.

We have a lot of dogs who use the paddock with health issues and allergies, and when they find pieces of meat/ cheese/ treats etc, this can massively impact their health and cause serious problems for them 😔

Please always remember that what is OK for your dog isn't always going to be OK for another dog.

This is also the same with toys being left. I've lost count of the amount of tennis balls I have thrown out after finding them, including tiny ones that bigger dogs could easily choke on, not to mention some dogs who will argue over toys / guard toys/ get obsessive over toys etc.

Please feel free to take anything for your dogs to the paddock, but ensure they are taken home with you/ cleared up afterwards.

Thank you 🙏🌲
