Hello! I’m Zion’s new owner my names Britney, I was going to compete in the challenge this year but my horse broke his back in July and sadly did not make it. I’d say Racheal did an absolute amazing job bonding with and training Zion; he is a giant love bug with a personality that matches him well. He has now stayed with us for six nights and this will be his fifth day with us. I removed the numbers 202 off his butt his second night with us and I’ve also been spraying him down with fly spray. He was in our round pen by himself getting to know our other mustangs that are on the property, I do have to say my other South Steens from 2018 MYWY absolutely loves him. Yesterday we released him with our other horses and they ran and ran for about an hour but eventually settled down. I plan to further his training and he’ll be a saddle horse for my mom and I to ride (once he grows a bit more). He’ll go on trails, and camping trips to explore the back country with us. I’m happy to say I’ll keep posting on this page for the ones that still want to follow his journey.

Rachel and Zion were quite the duo! Reserve champion in teen in hand and sold to a fabulous new home! We are hopeful his new mom will post updates so we can all follow their journey! Congratulations to everyone and what a fabulous weekend!!!

Zion freaked out a little during his freestyle… but 2nd time coming to them he went right to it and did everything perfectly!! So proud of him and what he’s done

Rachel and Zion did so well yesterday! They both were able to conquer their fears and compete in all 3 classes, and did so well!!! 2nd place across the board and only behind by half a point in one of the classes! Way to go!!! All that hard work is showing!

Special thanks to everyone at MYWY and especially the other competitors that have been so kind, welcoming, and supportive! Day 2 is about to get started!

They made it to the horse park! Tomorrow morning they will start with their in hand course and then trail course! This duo has put in the work and now ready for the homestretch of the MYWY competition!

Tonight Zion is saying his goodbyes to all the friends he has made here on the farm. Tomorrow we leave for the mustang makeover competition and we anticipate he will sell at the mywy auction this weekend and meet the person to take him through the next chapter of his training. A bittersweet evening around here.

A few months ago Zion was terrified of Emus. They trained him to be their friend by sleeping in his hay and now he’s not concerned by their spontaneous movements!

Today Zion worked on dragging items. I think he was disappointed he couldn’t lick off the frosting. But still, he didn’t throw a tantrum!

This week my mom is caring for Zion while i’m off on an adventure. He has no issues being pulled off his food for a little training fun! What a good boy.

Everyday I throw the hay over the fence to get it to his side then I go in the fence to put it up.. he’s doesn’t mind this at all!! it usually falls and hits his back and he’s very calm with that
