A terrific weekend hosting Peace River K9 Search and Rescue Association Inc. at Tailwind Trails for our Equine Scent Training Clinic. This is a very old science but a cutting edge application and it’s the coolest thing you never knew about your horse!!! In many cases, the Equine Scent Team is far more suited and ultimately successful with a find than the traditionally thought of dogs. Great information and great fun was had by all who attended and all the proceeds went directly to the PCSAR organization for training and rescues in the future. Thanks to Mike and Marie for sharing your expertise and passion with us.

A fantastic morning at Keiser University today with a team of riders from the fantastic Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Mounted Unit. We love sharing our passion for horses and education. Thank you to everyone who came out to see us and to the faculty and staff who made this happen. It was an honor to be on the Flagship Campus.

Condolences go out to our clients at Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office for the loss of Bella. We were blessed to work with her over the years and she will be missed.

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved PBSO Horse Bella. She served our Mounted Unit and the community with honor and distinction from 2016-2023. Bella passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 8, surrounded by her handler Deputy Sheriff Audrey Miranda and the Mounted Unit team. Our thoughts and prayers are with Deputy Miranda and the entire team during this difficult time. Bella, you will always be in our hearts.

We had the pleasure of working with the Citizens on Patrol unit of Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office at Jim Brandon Equestrian Center last week. Everyone had some great take-away lesson and left with smiles and new tools in their horsemanship toolboxes.

We were blessed to be the Keynote speakers at Keiser University Flagship Campus for their version of the popular “Ted Talk”, fondly named the “Hawk Talk.” An auditorium full of faculty and students were joined by an international online Zoom audience to hear all about our mission for education of Mounted Patrol Professionals and the promotion and support of Mounted Law Enforcement. We continue to be in development with the outstanding professional and innovative educators at Keiser to bring our curriculum to life, both for the degree track students within the University, as well as professionals seeking quality continuing education. What a fantastic day! Thank you to everyone who came out to support us.

Had a great day with the Equine team from Peace River K9 Search and Rescue Association Inc. yesterday learning about scenting with horses!!! This group, lead by Mike Hadsell, finds both live and deceased humans using their horses keen sense of smell! We always think of dogs in this role, and while they will always be the gold standard, there are times when horses are more suited and do a better job! We learned all about their successful finds and training methods, and our very own Ackerly of Ackerly Equestrian Services did some searching on his horse, Vegas. Vegas picked it up very quickly and enjoyed all the treats that came with that success. We will be including all of this educational information in our upcoming course and will hosting this group soon for clinics locally as well! Stay tuned…. This is super cool stuff and a very under utilized feature of equine search and rescue!!

Quiet on the set! Shot some terrific content today for the collage curriculum that is in development for the continuing education of Mounted Police. We were under the direction of the Film Production II students from the Cinematic Arts Department at Keiser University. Our guest presenters included Dr. Charlie from Palm Beach Equine and Taylor from Elite Equine Massage as well as our very own Evan Ackerly from Ackerly Equestrian Services. Great information and a really fun day! Thanks to everyone who made it happen.

Congratulations to Officer Ron McKenzie of the Pinellas Park Police Department for this prestigious award. Ron trained with us during our Majestic Oaks Ocala Farm Drill Formation Community Event on Jan 2nd and we got to witness Ron in action first hand. Ron and his equine partner embody the spirit of building community relationships. Well Done!

Please join us in congratulating Officer Ron McKenzie for being selected as the 2022 Officer of the Year! Throughout his career, Officer McKenzie has demonstrated his compassion and care for others through his community outreach efforts. He has organized and participated in events such as visiting assisted living facilities and interacting with children in the community. His dedication to the community, professional demeanor, and positive attitude are just some of the many reasons he was recognized as this year’s Officer of the Year. 🐴👮‍♂️🚨

This is Vegas, who was modeling some state of the art Riot Gear on Tuesday in preparation for our filming of educational content. As we develop and build our collegiate level accredited course, we are continually blessed to work with some of the industry’s top professionals. This day we were joined on set by Tek Marciniak of www.MountedPoliceWorldwide.com Our film crew was comprised of students from Keiser University Cinematic Arts Department and they were terrific! Vegas is owned and trained by Ackerly Equestrian Services.
