Update on Kinder,
She for the most part is leaving her hair ties in again🤣 but on a more serious note, her temp is fluctuating (normal ranges but not typical to fluctuate at this point). This is not concerning by itself self but the vet is slightly worried about her weight loss. She lost 10 ounces in 2 days. Which is a lot for a little dog. They recommend a blood panel and X-ray which were preformed. The X-ray confirms no other babies inside but an enlarged uterus. The blood panel indicates slightly elevated white blood cells (generally means an oncoming infection) and slightly low calcium levels (pretty common in nursing mothers). It has been recommended that we continue on with the antibiotics and up her calcium intake. As long as we can keep infection at bay her body should pass any left over placentas that may be causing her problems. If the infection gets stronger and she develops a fever the main concern would be her falling septic. However the vet isn’t overly concerned at this point and said to pretty much continue what we are doing until Friday. She (the vet) said we could try to get the babies to take a bottle for 1 feeding a day just to lighten her load. Puppies have pretty sensitive systems though so as long as she doesn’t degrees at all we are going try to avoid altering their diet. We are going to start with upping her calcium intake and keeping up with antibiotics and I’m thinking maybe adding some colloidal silver to her water, again to keep infection at bay. For the past 24 hours she hasn’t had any of the symptoms she was before (dry heaving, tremors, ect) so she seems to be on the mend as far as that’s concerned. All good signs of a smooth recovery. The vet even said her discharge which was brownish red 2 days ago and slightly concerning is now a bright red which is completely normal. So she will overall looks to be on the mend. ❤️🩹😃💪🏻 They are recommending we take her in on Friday for a follow up exam. 👍🏻
Until then we are to watch the babies hydration levels. If they get dehydrated if could be because of her lower calcium levels. In which case we would go ahead and provide supplement bottle feedings. So far they are doing fine. 😃👍🏻
