Kinness Masterpiece working lovely this morning in the sunshine 🌞

I love the outline he is now starting to achieve by becoming stronger behind.
This is something that takes time, as to get the shoulder up and light the hind quarter has to be strong enough to support the weight something that I feel very strongly about. This can't be done by stronger bits and gadgets, its patience and consistency in your training 💪 when the pony is physically strong enough they will perform with ease and stay happy 😊

Does anyone know of any herd field spaces around Shareshill/Featherstone/Brewood Area?

Would be for a well handled, 2 Year Old Gelding. Has been in over the winter and is now in need of some time out in a herd.

Thank you in Advance 🐴✨

Super morning with Ella and her pony's doing a bit of canter pole work.

This exercise has helped Ella with the importance of a correct contact, straightness and the pony's staying infront of the leg 🐴💙💙👌

So yesterday we took a very SPICY Roscoe out to his Elementary Festival. All i can say is it was an exciting ride 😜

I think after taking the title of Novice Regional Champion at the weekend and qualifing for the Nationals, he decided to bring his inner Diva out yesterday 🤣

We did what we could and you definitely have to take the rough with the smooth first part of the test was mostly spent with me trying to avoid an explosion which led to me making 2 very silly and costly mistakes 🙈 after this Roscoe settled in to his work so then that allowed me to concentrate on the test 👍 I can honestly say some of his work felt fantastic and this reflected in his marks going from a 2 at the start of the test to then mostly 7 / 7.5 and a fantastic 8 for his second Medium trot 🤗

All those that know me know how much I love this pony. He has been with me from the start and the journey so far has been amazing🥰.
When you are lucky enough to ride a pony or horse with this amount of talent you are always going to have challenging days but this is what gives them the edge, and as Roscoe has proven when it all comes together he is to hard beat 🏆

He will now have a very well deserved few weeks off from competition, plenty of hacking and a bit of fun pole work, then it will be time to get ready for the Nationals 🎉🎉🎉

As a lecturer in Canine Behaviour and Management, I definitely wasn't expecting to be asked so many brilliant questions about equine nutrition by my students this week! 🐴🐾

With Autumn having blessed us with colder temperatures and muddy turnout rugs, I'd like to share one of the most common topics I've been asked to share some insight into.

A lot of my clients and students are sharing their concerns regarding the rate of grass growth over the past few months.
Now, for many equestrians, grass growth is a joyous occasion! It allows us to feed our horses the most natural food source that equids could possibly consume, and allows them to display natural grazing behaviour. However, for other owners, it can be a bit of a nightmare!

High grass growth can be worrying for those who are trying to support the nutritional needs of horses predisposed to or suffering from laminitis, Equine Metabolic Syndrome, Insulin Resistance, and more. However, there are some strategies that you can use to help manage the grass intake of horses, including:

1. Using a well-fitting grazing muzzle (and getting regular check-ups from a qualified equine dentist to make sure that the muzzle doesn't cause any dental damage)

2. Using 'strip grazing' tactics to reduce the area of grass that your horse has access to each day instead of reducing the length of turnout

3. Reducing turnout during times when grass growth can be at it's highest, such as when there's frost

4. Choosing to sew paddocks with C4 grasses if possible

5. Feeding hard feed that is low in energy and sugar

6. Frequently weighing, Body Condition Scoring, and Cresty Neck Scoring your horse to assess for any changes, and keeping an accurate record of your findings

7. Turning your horse out on a dry lot if laminitis is reoccurring

8. Working closely with a qualified veterinarian, farrier, and nutritionist to support your horse's physiological health

If you would like further advice, please feel free to send me a message! I am a fully qualified (BSc (Hons) Pro. Dip.) and insured UK-based Independent Equine Nutritionist, offering bespoke, low-cost nutrition consultations for horses big and small 🐴
