SAVE THE RESCUE FUNDRAISER: CLEAR OUR VET BALANCE!

We have had a very challenging year, and we have fought so hard to keep going. Many plans have not worked out 😔 We started the year wanting to clear our debt, and instead we have amounted more 💔 Unfortunately this puts us in a very difficult position, and we will be unable to continue into 2026 in this manner.

We have many outstanding debts, but our most critical one at this time, is our vet balance. Our vet partner, Caledon Mountain Veterinary Hospital, is amazing, truly. They have been so kind, always there when I need them, and extremely supportive. They give us breaks wherever they are able, and have been incredibly lenient with an account that is expected to be paid a time of services. They know it's been a difficult year for us, and they have given me as much leeway as they can. But at the end of the day, they still need to pay their bills, pay their staff, and balance their books. We need to clear this balance back to zero by the end of 2025.

$16,796.80 is the current total. That's just $4.80 a follower! Today is $5 Friday. I would love more than anything today, to see a good chunk taken out of this total. If every one of our followers steps up, and sends just that $5 today, this balance is instantly cleared. It's honestly that easy! But I need all of you. Please, please help us tackle our debt, and get the rescue in position to still be here next year.

Inugoya is unique, and serves many dogs that other rescues are not able to accommodate. We have so much more offer, and I would hate to see this mission cut short. Help us turn this year around, get our footing back, and start turning the "sorry, I can't help right now", back into, "yes, we can!".

IT'S $5 FRIDAY!

Good Afternoon Everyone ❄️ A lot of snow overnight, and the dogs are loving it! But it's a driving day today, as Durian heads to the groomer. A lot of rain and mud this week, so he needs it!

Today is the last Friday of November. November has not been a good month for the rescue. We have no money to our name, and are barely scraping by. Our dogs have not been sponsored outside of rent, and we have made zero payments to any of our debt. Things are not good. But all it takes is one day to turn things around, and end this month on a good note! So I reach out, asking yet again, will you support this rescue? Will you help us get to where we need to be to keep the rescue open into the new year? $1 $2, or $5. However much you can give, please give it now. We are again critical.

Durian's groom & a tank of gas ~$180. $136.05 to go, for this week's vet expenses. Then $16,796.80 vet balance to clear before Dec 31st. ALL DONATIONS WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED! Please help us keep the rescue open 🙏

🐕 The Malinois: Is It the Right Dog for You?
The Belgian shepherd Malinois is fascinating. Intelligent, athletic, loyal, obedient… We see it in police forces, the military, in movies — a strong, courageous dog capable of almost anything.
But before adopting one, you need to ask yourself a crucial question:
Is this really the right dog for you?

💭 Start by Looking at Yourself
Before choosing a breed, you have to look at yourself honestly — without pretending that you’ll suddenly change just because you get a dog.
What’s your lifestyle like? Your habits? Your energy level? Your experience with dogs?
Do you have the time, patience, and consistency needed to guide such an intense dog?

The Malinois is not a lapdog, nor just a casual walking companion.
It’s a mental and physical athlete that needs structure, stimulation, and daily challenges. There’s a reason it’s selected for police and military work.
Without those things, it gets bored, restless, and may develop behaviour issues: destruction, anxiety, reactivity, frustration…

🧠 The Malinois’ Fundamental Needs
The Malinois is first and foremost a working dog.
That means it has been selected, generation after generation, to think, act, and work closely with humans.
Its core needs go far beyond those of an average “family pet”:

Intense physical exercise: running, pulling, jumping, climbing, swimming, playing at full power, protection sports.

Mental stimulation: constant learning, searching, obedience, detection, precision work.

Structure and consistency: a clear framework, stable rules, a calm and predictable human. Structure isn’t just helpful — it’s essential.

Daily interaction: this dog does not thrive alone in a yard. It needs to be with you, involved in your life.

⚠️ A Working Dog Without Work
A Malinois without purpose often becomes unhappy.
It’s not that it’s “mean” or “too intense”; it’s simply built to do.
When its energy has no direction, it turns into tension and frustration.
That’s when behaviour problems appear — not out of “disobedience,” but out of imbalance and misunderstanding.

Owning a Malinois is a lifestyle. It’s not a temporary project or a fitness challenge: it’s a daily, long-term commitment for 12 to 15 years.

🌿 Finding the Right Match
Before adopting a Malinois, ask yourself the right questions:
Am I active every day, no matter the weather?
Do I have the discipline to provide a stable structure?
Am I willing to learn, to question myself, to be guided?
Am I looking for a working partner or for a calm companion?

The Malinois is an incredible dog — loyal, dedicated, brilliant.
But it’s not for everyone, and that’s okay.
What matters is finding the dog that truly fits you, whose needs align with your lifestyle. A dog is a 15-year commitment, not a trend you saw in a cool Instagram reel.

Because a happy dog starts with a consistent human — and a fulfilled dog.

WISHFUL WEDNESDAY

Good Afternoon Everyone ❄️ Just a week of busy mornings this week! I had my personal appointment this morning, so I picked up everything that was there, as well as some more Zentonil for Durian since we still don't have the 400s back in stock and he goes through the 200s so quick. Saves me a trip next week. Total for Inugoya dog's stuff: $313.94. $75.12 has been raised towards this total. I have paid the balance ($238.82) with my personal funds, and need to replace that asap. I keep saying I'm not going to do this, but here we are in the same situation again 😅

$16,796.80 is our CMVH account balance. It needs to be cleared by years end. We have not made a single extra payment in months. It is now a critical balance. If it is not cleared by years end, we will no longer have access to our vet services, and the rescue will be forced to close. We need to be aggressively paying this down, over and above our operating costs. Once the above balance to myself is repaid, all funds this week will be directed towards paying this down. We have one other expense this week, which is Durian's groom on Friday as I won't be available on his usual Monday to bring him in.

EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS! We need our Christmas miracle ❤️ We have fought hard this year, and though we don't have the big numbers of the larger rescues, we have done so much. Please help us tackle this hurdle, to keep our heads above water. Every single dollar counts. Donations direct the clinic encouraged and appreciated!
