Most domestic ducks including the Silver Appleyard are "dabbling" vs. diving ducks. Meaning that they love to rummage in the mud by a shore line or edge of a pond, or wade in shallow water looking for bugs, larvae, worms, seeds and other vegetation. Ginger is my best forager. As you can see

The nutritional needs of ducks vary somewhat from chickens. As soon as your ducklings arrive, they should be fed a waterfowl starter diet instead of a regular chick starter. But what if you cannot find a waterfowl starter feed at your local feed store? Let us know in the comments below
