Much as we love seeing the ☀️, please, please we aware of what temperatures are actually comfortable for dogs - it’s probably lower than you think! 🌡️

& don’t forget the 5 second pavement rule: if the ground is too hot for you to stand on with your bare feet for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for paws too! 🔥

The family cat passed away in my arms last night. Because of how I was holding him, his little heart was literally in my hand at the time 😢
He may have been physically the smallest member of the family yet he probably had the biggest personality of us all.

Thank you Rinky D**k (D**ks/D**ky Doo/Tiger/Rupert/Giles) for choosing us, you chatty, cheeky, funny, friendliest cat. You will be so missed 💔🐾 💔

Great afternoon keeping my skills updated with a Canine First Aid workshop 🐾❤️‍🩹 ⛑️

- No paws were harmed during this workshop, all injuries dressed were pretend! & Casper didn’t have anything stuck in his airway, his lungs fill fine & his pulse is strong. He’s just had a busy day having his vitals continually checked! 🐾

Close curtains, play Classic FM, have a ‘safe haven’ space, give long-lasting chews to help distract, thundervest (or cuddle!)…

There’s lots you can do to help anxious paws cope through firework season.

Something as simple as these leads are a great visual tool to other humans with paws to please respect our space if you see us out walking.

& these harnesses are a safe & comfortable way for little paws to be lifted/helped if needed.

A day full of paws is a good day. Am still with the 2 cats yet popped over to spend some time with this pair today too, & managed fusses with 4 other sets of paws along the way 🐾💖

They rarely sit still together facing the same way long enough for a picture so this is a lucky snap! They don’t look like they’re smiling yet their purrs are so loud, especially at mealtimes. We’re mid-way through our 2 week stay 🐾

First Stay with this gorgeous lady & she’s a pleasure. A former rescue who’s only been in her furrever home a short time yet she accepted me straight away which is lovely ❤️‍🩹 Wary of other dogs yet she relaxed when she understood I had control, thanks to tips learnt recently from Southend Dog Training 🐾

- when they stop to p*e, they’re “clicking ❤️ ”

We were out nice and early, in the cool & shade & wearing her cool collar.

To make your own cool collar: soak a bandana in cold water, wring out so it doesn’t drip, tie *loosely* around dog’s neck. Please don’t freeze the bandana, cold water is enough 🐾

As we start a 4 day heatwave, reminder that if you can’t take your paws out in the early morning before the temperature hits 20degrees, then please don’t force them out later. The ground will be too hot for their paws (remember the 5 second rule, if you can’t stand on the group in bare feet for 5 seconds, neither can paws) - even in the late evening when temperatures are still forecast to be high 20s - this is too hot for dog walking.

Is keeping watch on the weather this week as temperatures are forecast to hit heat-wave level again & 2 stays booked this week during the height of the heat.
Cool mats/towels, shaded rooms & home-made pupsicle recipes at the ready 🍦

Remember anything over 25degrees is considered ‘hot’ for a dog, so even 8/9pm at night could be too warm for walking!

Also don’t forget the 5 second rule - if you can’t stand outside in bare feet for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for your paws too 🔥 🐾

A missed walk won’t kill your dog, but heatstroke will. If it’s over 24degrees, that’s heatstroke weather for dogs.

Be responsible owners 🐾
