Our second strawberry harvest, birds got most of the cherries, first ever blueberries and raspberries, and first harvest this year for pink lemonade blueberries! It’s not much, but with some rose petals it will be a tasty little jam 😊

Phew! We have been busy! Planted more strawberries, comfrey, broccoli, cucumber, bok choi, rainbow chard, tomatillos, sweet basil, holy basil, amaranth, yarrow, dahlia, calendula, and kiss me over the garden gate 😘

Strawberries and cilantro in, asparagus bed trimmed and weeded for next year’s harvest.

More cranberry beans and potatoes are in today! Started Napa cabbage and bell peppers too 😁

Just hobbled around the beds to point out which annual beds can be weeded clean and saw the state of the perennials. Pictures later, but I ate my first sun ripened raspberry, and saw lots of figs starting, gooseberries, blueberries, strawberries, serviceberries, peaches, and apples. The bee balm in almost 5 feet tall! Oregano, thyme, sage, and rosemary are thriving. I have been pinching off the seed stalks on the rhubarb so that is getting bigger. I am very excited about the progress!

New starts to go in!

Got a few tomatoes, beans, and lot of potatoes and sweet potatoes in already, lots more to go. Getting a late start this year due to health reasons but plan to get back on track.

Collards were once as diverse as the Southern families they fed, but countless varieties have vanished. The race is on to preserve and propagate. That's where the Heirloom Collard Project comes in.

Planning on some updates soon! Sorry folks, illness delayed our start. We have apple and plum trees in bloom now, and leaves on the fig trees. Photos coming as soon as we can!

Non-poisoned yards are earth-friendly and sustainable for several reasons:
- Healthy soil ecosystems sequester more carbon.
- Healthy soil ecosystems promote good plant growth, which cools the air through greater transpiration.
- Healthy soil ecosystems promote good plant growth, which reduces erosion and runoff so nearby waterways are less polluted.
- Heathy soil ecosystems provide nesting places for our native bees, which not only pollinate our flowers and crops, but they also prey on pest insects.
- Healthy above-ground ecosystems support birds and pollinators that may be struggling in the face of climate change.
In addition, non-poisoned landscapes are better for your family, and your pet's health. And you'll save time and money in a less-managed landscape.

As we approach Springtime it’s time to buy seeds and chart the garden plans! Where do you buy your seeds and/or favorite brands?

Most of y'all already know this but I should explain to the rest. I have a high risk pregnancy so the farm was put on the back burner while we await baby. Next Spring we will hit the farm hard! Thanks all.
