One of the top three reasons people say they can’t foster is that they work long hours and the dog will be home alone.🤔
Apparently they’ve never been in A shelter. Here a dog spends day, after day, after day Sitting alone in the Scary noisy building. There are dogs barking, crying and many other strange loud noises. There are very few humans to comfort them. If they are fortunate enough to be in a shelter where they have volunteers they may actually get walked once a day. Usually they spend their days, weeks, alone in a kennel without human touch or affection.
So can you explain to me how getting to stay in your warm home all day long in a quiet safe place is a bad thing??🤔
The dog gets to see you for 10 to 20 minutes in the morning and evening and gets some affection❤️(The human touch is so healing). They get several meals a day, they actually get to get walked outside. They don’t spend a long lonely night on a cold hard floor listening the dogs crying and barking and being afraid. Rather they get to stay in your warm house And know that there are humans nearby keeping them safe. They may even get to have a dog bed and a toy.
Oh and did I forget to mention that the rescue will supply you with crates, bedding, food, toys and the dog is fully vetted.
Yes you will fall in love with them, some more than others. But you’re very happy to see them going to a wonderful home and have a family of their own. This opens up your space again so you can save another dog. It is the most amazing and rewarding experience. It doesn’t take money and it doesn’t take a lot of time. It just takes A small space in your house, your love, and a little bit of your time to make a world of difference to a dog or cat.
