Up until today Wolfie (left), had been struggling with reactivity regarding other dogs. As you can see, she's doing much better! When we first started, she was so petrified of other dogs that she would bark and charge at them, but now she's able and willing to be within 5 feet of another dog with no issues! Good Job Wolfie!

As July 4th approaches it's important to keep in mind that many dogs (and some people) may find the loud noises and bright lights disturbing! If you have an anxious pet at home here are some tips to help alleviate their stress.
limit exposure as best you can, close the blinds and put on some soothing background noise for your pup
If they're crate trained, consider putting them away with a chewy or a frozen treat filled kong to help distract them
finally, try not to coddle your pets too much, it's very easy for them to interpret your attempts at comforting them as YOU being afraid which in turn generates more stress and anxiety for them

If you're struggling with an anxious dog at home feel free to check out our website MontyDTS.com and book a session with us! We come right to your door and offer excellent training and advice for dealing with all kinds of dog related issues.

Happy July 4th!

Just another friendly reminder, chocolate is highly toxic to dogs and sugary snacks can upset their stomachs easily so please keep halloween candy up and out of the way to prevent any illness

Here I am with our mascot Montigue (Monty for short) he's my 5 year old husky whom we rescued from a shelter a few years ago, he's a little chunky in this photo but he's slimmed down quite a bit thanks to a revised diet and lots of exercise.

While making your shelter in place/evacuation plans, be sure to remember your furry companions and their needs! Food, clean water, and a portable bowl are essentials! Stay safe everyone.

In this warm weather it's important for your dogs to have access to clean drinking water. For outside water bowls you want to make sure they're durable, non plastic and heat resistant. Make sure to clean them out and change the water often!

20/07/2021

Just a friendly reminder that in above 80° weather you should try to limit the amount of time your fuzzy friends spend outside, especially long haired breeds such as huskies or short nosed breeds like pugs! Try to limit outside time to around 30 minutes to avoid overheating 🥵
