The Fear Free Difference
The one thing that was missing in Hamilton’s pet owner community was a personal service tailored to the individual pet’s needs. There is a vibrant network of dog walkers, trainers, grooming specialists, pet store employees and shelter volunteers - but finding an individual outside of a big box store with knowledge, qualifications and the patience to employ purely fear free methods? That was just not possible.
My service fits that niche - those sensitive souls that can’t handle their paws being touched, that have stopped grooming due to age/mobility issues, the rescues that struggle with being in loud/overstimulating environments or those that have been roughly handled by personnel whose priority is often to “get it done” at the expense of that pet’s comfort level and without a respect for the stress signals they are trying to communicate.
By going to your pet’s home the stresses associated with traveling and entering a new environment are greatly reduced. I meet them where they are most at-ease and establish myself as a new source of yummy things first, and gentle handling second.
Everything is done at their pace, based on their body language and emotional state. While the end goal is to accomplish a nail trim, simple grooming procedure, training assistance exercise or bath - what matters most is that each of the pets I work with are comfortable which involves taking things slowly and having multiple sessions in some cases.
