I'm a day late, but yesterday marked 1 year having all of the horses home. At that point, we had the herd divided; Paddington & Maple were at home while Jack, Crouton & Max were at our old barn. We had a lot we had to do to prepare for a group of 5 horses.
In a year, a lot has happened for Windsong. Our program has grown beyond my wildest dreams and our herd grew by two. I'm grateful for those who have been with us through it all and the newer faces who have found us and joined us on this adventure. I cannot wait to see where this next year takes us!

Big step
Today was a very big step for us: We have upgraded our arena lighting!!!! And holy smokes is it BRIGHT!🤩
The lights were hooked up and ready to rock around lunchtime but Rosie and I waited till Nick got home from work to flip the switch which called for a victory gallop in the arena.
A lot led up to this moment including a big dream, some determination and a whole lot of love and support. More to come on this milestone for us but for now, some big THANK YOUs are in order:

A short clip from Maple Stirrup and my debut over fences together.
Soo… I was VERY unprepared for this show. Like, I have never jumped a full course with her. Ever.😅 I was recovering from COVID and had barely the energy before the show to school her. Our course was pretty hideous but two things I took away:
1. My little pocket rocket LOVES to jump
2. I laughed and smiled the whole time. Sound up as I’m coming down the judges line. You can hear me saying “Weeeee!” Followed by “We’re IN the ring!” as she attempted to Houdini out of the gate.
We’ve got some serious homework to do and working on slowing down between the fences. Otherwise, she will make a heck of a pony jumper which if that’s what she wants to do, so be it.
It’s easy to post the pretty photos and rounds but this one I will hold dear in my heart. Thanks Maple for giving me wings and reminding me how much I love to jump. I’ll try to not have a major health crisis before our next show so I can be more prepared and do you justice.

We’ve been having too much fun that I’ve been way behind on sharing updates of our new home.
Asher shot this video on April 6th when we had our official “ribbon cutting” 🤣 for my first lesson in our, erm, arena? Cross country course? Anywho! Whatever you want to call it, it is ours and I am proud.
I’ll admit, it’s not the Pinterest barn (yet) and my type A, label everything, no dust or dirt, personality is having to let a lot go right now. In time, our barn will be exactly what I dreamed of but I’m allowing myself to enjoy the process and transformation. One thing is for certain, we sure are having a lot of fun out here. #fireball ☄️
I want to post this so I can look back on our humble beginnings. We have worked SO hard to get to this point and I know soon, we’ll have an actual beautiful fence line but for now, it does the job and both my horses and riders are over the moon happy to have an open field to ride in and graze on and that’s all that matters.

We unloaded Paddy and Maple off the trailer and turned them right out in their new paddock. It made my heart happy to see them be able to run and kick up their heels with joy. “So much room for activities!”
I’ve already caught Maple digging for gold aka pawing at the snow. She quickly realized that she’s no longer on a dry lot. She’s a smart cookie but I should probably get her a grazing muzzle sooner than later. Life with cheeky and chunky ponies!

Last weekend Meli piloted Providence Sly Fox aka “Crouton” in the 18” Easy Does It Division at Sassy Strides Equestrian. They earned two blue ribbons in both of their over fences classes and I could not be more proud of how professionally and elegantly Meli rode.🤩
It took us nearly a calendar year to figure out this talented pony but I’m a firm believer in taking things slow and steady. I’m looking forward to beefing up the jumps next season and seeing what this pair can do!💛
