Happy Birthday, Z! 🥳
Mister Zen (Z for short) celebrated his 5th birthday this week. His dad hired me to give him a birthday massage. Z experiences some anxiety and bites everyone. I wasn’t too sure how this session would go, but I definitely wanted to give it my all.
I made friends with this boy! His dad was very surprised. There were even a few moments when I was able to use both hands 🙌🏻

Trying to determine the cause of pain in dogs can be incredibly difficult. Unlike humans, they cannot tell us where they hurt. And since they do not always appear to be in pain, we may miss the signs.
Let’s dive in to the different types of pain that dogs may experience.
Chronic pain- this type of pain lasts longer than the expected timeframe it takes for the affected tissues to heal. Chronic pain can be difficult to identify since dogs can learn to live with the pain. Most of the time there are signs, but since they may be so subtle, they often go unnoticed. Sometimes severe chronic pain in senior dogs can be mistaken as age related tiredness. The most common chronic pain in dogs is arthritis. Laser therapy and massage are excellent treatments for chronic pain.
Acute pain- this type of pain presents as a noticeable response to injury. Often times dogs will become withdrawn, whimper, limp or favor a limb. Acute pain may be the result of surgery, illness, or injury. It typically lasts just a few days and will resolve on its own. Pain medication and rest are the best treatments for acute pain. Class III laser is also a great choice to speed up the healing process. *It is important to note that acute injuries which have not been properly addressed, may turn into chronic pain.

We will develop a plan using massage therapy to increase blood flow to the affected area in turn, reducing inflammation and relieving the pain. She is a certified master pet first aid/CPR instructor and director of education for Pro Pet Hero. Once you take our 4.5 hour, veterinarian backed course, you will receive a certificate good for 2 years. You will learn pet CPR, pet first aid, pet safety, and you will learn how to do a pet assessment.

Today, we had the pleasure of meeting Savvy (Sav) and his momma. Sav has been through a lot in his 5 short years of life, causing him chronic pain. Does your senior dog experience pain from arthritis? Just like humans, our fur babies will often times develop arthritis, as they age. This will cause them to slow down and stiffen up.
