First two sessions will be 4th and 11th at in Headingley. Puppies post vaccines - 20 weeks of age (if your pup is slightly out of this time frame do get in touch and we can discuss if they’ll still be suitable).

❌ This is not a free for all! These are guided sessions to ensure all puppies have the best experience possible.

I’m super excited for these sessions. Socialisation is so important with tiny puppies and proper socialisation really can set them up for a good start in life. In these sessions we’ll chat about how to translate what you learn to everyday interactions, how to read your dogs body language and what appropriate interactions look like and most importantly how to encourage a disengage from dogs to prevent frustration reactivity which is easily one of the biggest behaviour concerns I see day to day!

£25 per dog with up to 2 handlers. 45 minute session with some time at the end to discuss any other puppy problems you may be having. The puppy blues is no joke, and I hope these sessions serve as a bit of a support group!

The venue has a super set up in order to set your puppy up for success.

Today is Mental Health Day 💚

Our dogs provide us with so much joy and happiness, endless laughs and constant companionship.
Lemonade has pushed me to step outside my comfort zone, help me to make friends and take up a sport I never thought I was capable of.

But I’m not going to lie and pretend that living with Lemon is stress free, she’s a complex dog and sometimes she’s really difficult and I’m extremely thankful the teenage phase is well behind us. 🥲

Don’t forget to look after your mental health away from your dog, it’s ok to go for a walk without them, make time for a dog free outing, book a dog sitter or walker to keep them entertained, skip the training session if you’re not feeling it or simply give them a lickimat so you can focus on something else for a while.

Even humans need decompression days! ❤️

I currently have a few solo walk spaces available including lunchtime walks, spaces are limited so get in touch if you are interested.
The walks are great for dogs who need one to one attention, might be reactive or aren't suitable for group walks.

Do they just snooze the day away? Or do they pace, bark, howl? Do you come home to destruction or accidents? These are quite common signs of Separation Anxiety. Less common signs can be counter surfer or self mutilation, these signs can be more subtle and you might not know your dog is doing it.

So why not spy on them 👀
Pet cameras can be picked up cheap off Amazon and will give you loads of insight to how your dog is feeling when home alone.

Hey 👋 my name is Maddie and I’m a behaviourist and dog trainer based in North Leeds. I specialise in Separation Anxiety but am happy to help out with a variety of behaviour and training problems. I’m just wrapping up my Advanced Diploma in Canine Behavioural Management and have completed several other courses in a range of topics.

I work only with positive reinforcement, force and fear free training techniques. This means that your dog will enjoy their training and are never put in a situation that they feel uncomfortable with. 🍪

And this is my dog Lemonade 🍋 she is a pointer hound cross. Her favourite things are zooming, playing tug and learning new things.

We’ll be sharing all sorts of training and behaviour tips and tricks on here as well as chatting about our dogs behaviour.

Did you know in seven years one unspayed female cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 cats?! 😮

We are running a chip and snip campaign in the BD1-BD15 postcodes, where your cat can be neutered and microchipped for £10.

Cats can be neutered as early as four months old, which is the age that cats are able to reproduce, even with their siblings or parents.

What a way to kick off the year!!
We welcome little Herbie back into the gang, we’ve missed him a lot. Vinnie has got braver and braver with every walk. Lemonade and Alex now get to enjoy off lead life at the amazing woofing woods secure woodlands and we experienced just about every kind of weather. ❄️ ☀️

Today is North Paws first birthday!!
When I started North Paws a year ago I certainly didn’t anticipate a global pandemic and lockdown 2 months after I started up, but North Paws is still here and we’ve got more dogs in the gang than ever before!
I’m so thankful to all my clients for continuing to book walks and trusting me with their four legged friends. I love all the dogs as if they were my own and I have so much fun on our little adventures, I hope all the pups do to!

COVID Update!

Following tonight’s announcement I have made the decision to carry on as normal.
If you’d like to pause services for the time being that is absolutely fine and I understand everyone schedules might be a bit up in the air at the moment so I’m happy to be flexible on days required and cancellations should you need to rearrange.

Little Vinnie the sproodle is only still a pup, he’s still learning about the big wide world. He started off quite nervous and tries to take on every new situation with yelling! But with every walk he’s getting braver and braver (all our ears are grateful) thanks to big sister Molly who’s setting a great example for him. He LOVES big Len and follows him around everywhere, learning how to find all the best floor snacks. I’m looking forward to watch this sweet boy become the confident pup I know he can be!

Nala is a super speedy Working Cocker Spaniel who is always full of beans, she probably covers 3 times everyone else’s distance. Her party trick is managing to get muddy even if the ground is bone dry, although she loves the water which is very helpful when she’s covered in mud. Nala is always happy to see me and greets me with a little wiggly dance, she’s absolutely loves people and just wants to say hi to everyone we meet.

What kind of dog is this?!
Benny is a rescue cat from Yorkshire Cat Rescue, he was a stray before being adopted by my parents. He likes to think he has street smarts and pretends to act tough, but in reality he’s a bit of a wuss. He likes some cuddles but he’ll let you know when he’s had enough by biting your hand although his lack of teeth make it a bit less sinister than he’d like. He’s an expert in intimidation, and he uses his skills to demand more food and steal the dogs kibble. His head is bigger than it looks.

18 month old rescue pup Lemonade is boss dog, she’s official treat taster and pupproves all the important decisions, although she is yet to help out with paper work 🙄 She informs all the other doggy’s when there’s a squirrel in sight and makes sure everyone is having fun. She loves to canicross with her friends and zooming around with bestfriend Teddy. She’s called Lemonade because why not 🤷‍♀️

Elsie Smellsie is my parents dog and is an honorary North Paws Pack member. She is a rescue Spanish Jack Russell Terrier, although she’s very laid back for a Terrier and would rather sleep all day than go for a big hike. But once she’s out and about she loves exploring, she particular loves zooming on beaches and long grass! Elsie howls when she’s excited and absolutely loves cuddles (she thinks she’s a lap dog!) She doesn’t like motorbikes or loud noises like fireworks. Her nickname is Smellsie because she’ll always find some stinky 💩 to roll in.

Despite his size, Jack Russell x Chihuahua, Jasper is one of the biggest characters. His favourite thing is to throughly inspect every stump and blade of grass on our walk, when he’s not sniffing Jasper is a little pocket rocket and happily keeps up with his longer legged friends. He absolutely loves the Turkey pate treats and a good game of ‘find it’.

Max the Westie is new to Leeds having recently moved here from Ireland, he’s adjusting to big city life and taking it all in his stride.
He is a typical terrier who always has an eye out for those pesky squirrels and always lets me know if we can see another dog ahead.

Oh Zena where do we start?!
Despite being 7 years old Zena is one of the craziest in the group, she always gives the young’uns a run around. Her favourite things are chewing sticks and tennis balls. When I say sticks I actually mean logs and trees, so watch your shins!

Betty Boo is new to the group and we’re still getting to know each other, but one thing is for certain this gal is such a character! She is a bundle of fun, and I can’t wait to watch her grow into the confident sassy dog I know she’ll be. Her bestfriend is Alex who she absolutely adores, but be careful because if you crouch down to give her a treat you may get bulldozed but she didn’t mean it, promise!

Big man Leonard is as laid back as they come. You’ll often find him plodding right at my heel, but should you get in the way of Len’s rare zoomies he will take you out. He can scent out fallen apples like a bloodhound and is partial to a mid walk snack 💩. And when the walk is done, it’s guaranteed he’ll be first to fall fast asleep in the van 💤

Hugo is the happiest little man I’ve ever met, he always has his tail wagging and happily plods by my side whilst we’re walking. He’s the softie of the group and requires a lifts over any puddles, streams or sketchy looking bridges and will gladly take a scritch scratch will doing so.

Bella always greets me with a tail so waggy it makes her whole body wiggle. She’s a bundle of fun and always has energy to play, the squeaky ball in the van has now been declared Bella’s and she HAS to have one last treat when I drop her off or she’ll stare me down as I leave. Although catching a treat is still a work in progress.
