For the first time in over 2 years, Peaceful Paws has spots available for daily dog walks and potty breaks! We're so excited to make new friends and welcome new families into our wonderful crew of clients. 😊

Daily Doggy Drop-Ins are available to be booked for 2-5 days per week, with multiple mid-day time blocks to choose from. These weekly reoccurring visits are perfect for long work hours, new puppies who are still working on potty training, and senior dogs who require midday medications or maybe just can't hold it as well as they used to. If you are interested in grabbing one of our Doggy Drop-In spots, or one of our other pet care services, please call or text (717)710-8895.

I know that we've been M.I.A. on social media for quite some time now and I'm so very sorry about that! (I'll explain in another post) We have some new and exciting things to share with you though! Since we're so far behind on posting about this, first things first...

What's this, a new service? You bet!

The "Almost Overnight".
Just like an overnight, except we don't sleep over; Just like a bedtime drop-in, except we don't leave! (Sounds strange, right? 🤔😸) Instead of going home at the end of the visit time, like a typical bedtime visit, we put our PJs on and wind down together for the rest of the night! Your Pet Sitter will stay as late as Midnight, or up to 3 hours, until your pets are sound asleep and the sitter is ready for bed. Then we return first thing in the morning and get ready for the day, like we never left!

Almost-Overnights are perfect for pets who are used to a longer/later nighttime routine, and like to snuggle up with a movie or a good book before bed, but don't necessarily need someone to sleep over with them.
This service is also the only one that guarantees the first and last visits of the day, so availability is limited - Grab your summer dates before someone else notices this post! 😉😸

Added another tool to the pet sitter belt! I'm now a member of NAPPS and PSI!

Why both memberships? Great question! PSI and NAPPS are the two leading educational associations for Professional Pet Sitters - Being a member of both gives you access to the different educational opportunities, certificate courses, online classes, and business tools that each of them may offer at any given time. (NAPPS even has a chicken care certificate! Can you guess which course is next on my list? 🐓🤭)

If you think that this new addition is pretty cool though, wait until you see what else I've been up to lately!

⭐️ Ideal candidates must be...
• Dependable, trustworthy, and dedicated to providing every pet with the 5-star care that they deserve!
• Living within the Mechanicsburg-North Harrisburg area and must have a reliable vehicle.
• Able to pass a criminal background check, including an animal cruelty screening.

⭐️ Experience in Veterinary Medicine, pet sitting/dog walking services, or other professional pet care field is preferred but not a requirement. (Experience caring for dogs and cats is a must, of course!)

⭐️ Pay rate is based on experience/skills and varies per service but starts at $17.00 per 30 minute appointment time, with a paid training period. All team members also have access to relevant continuing education materials and opportunities!

⚠️ Pet Sitter PSA ⚠️

It's about time to reiterate this again. With the introduction of various on-demand apps and easy listing agencies, pet sitting is unfortunately becoming a popular "side hustle". While there are some wonderful animal-lovers out there who just need part time work to get by, this can also be unsafe for your pet and your home. 🙀

How do you choose the right sitter, though? PSI has this excellent infographic to show the difference between actual Professional Pet Sitting Services and the others.

⚠️ Always ask if a sitter carries the appropriate insurance and bonding! ("Guarantees" by listing agencies are NOT insurance policies)
⚠️ Professionals will typically have up to date criminal background checks, references, professional memberships/certifications, and a business website.
⚠️ A professional service should be registered as a legitimate business with your state and the IRS.
⚠️ Services who advertise themselves as "affordable/cheap" often do not include any of the above. 👆🏻 Never be afraid to ask questions or to ask for documentation!

Search for real Professional Pet Sitters by using the Pet Sitters International and the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters databases. It's as easy as typing in your zip code!

Peaceful Paws has a pretty fancy office for the next few days. 😻 Don't worry though, I'm not far away and I'll still be at all of my scheduled visits like any normal day. 😊 However, after the last visit of each day I will be "stepping out of the office" to enjoy spending time with my family - Just for a little while though, we'll be back to normal on Wednesday (8/31)! I truly appreciate your patience and understanding.

🎆 It's the 4th of July! 🎇

Unfortunately, it's also the day/weekend that many pet owners have been dreading all year. 🙀 This infographic from Fear Free Pets has some excellent tips to help ease some of your pet's stress during tonight's celebrations (and throughout the next week or so. I swear that this holiday gets longer and longer every year. 🤦🏻‍♀️)

While it's too late to talk to your Veterinarian for help with tonight's shindig, some of my favorite sound therapy options to use during visits are quick and easy to access; Simply ask your Amazon Alexa device to play "Calm My Dog" or use the YouTube app on your smartTV to play videos by "Relax My Dog". (It's not just for dogs though! You can play these for your cats and bunnies, too.)

Well, that was a little chaotic. (We've never done a livestream before, incase that wasn't obvious. Haha! 🤣) Thanks for bearing with us.

ETA: Oh no, we forgot to introduce everyone to our Sissy girl! Sissy is our special needs rescue chickie. 🥰 You may have noticed what we like to call her "silly feet" - She has what's called "Curly Toe" which, in her case, was likely caused a serious vitamin deficiency and an improper brooder floor when she was a newly hatched chick. By the time that we brought her home, she was walking on her knuckles with her little feet balled up into tight fists, so she had to spend several weeks in special orthopedic chickie shoes. Unfortunately, it was too late to fix her toes completely but she's now happy, healthy, and the best little best friend!
