Hello everyone!!! I wanted to update you all on the reason you haven't heard from our favorite dog from the down under. Gizmo has officially found his soul family!! I couldn't be happier with the family that adopted him. I have attached some pics of him in his new home (permission to post by his new momma).
Thank you all so much for all of your support!! I will keep this page open for future fosters. We plan on helping out many more dogs in the near future!!

Gizmo's foster mom here! While he was taking a snoozer I wanted to share a picture of him from his homeland! This is a rare one folks... I found it in his knapsack and I don't think he knows that it exists.. don't tell him that I shared it with you- he gets bashful when he is in uniform!!

G'day mates! My apologies for being MIA these past few days, but you see I'm a bit of a big deal around these parts so I have had little time to tend to my online fans... So sorry mates!!

I just wanted to get everyone revved up for this weekend's adoption event with Freedom Ride Rescue for the May Day Dogworks! You can take a gander at yours truly or any of the other adorable mongrels looking for their soul family! I assure you that it will be a ripper of a good time! Tell all your blokes and Sheilas to stop on by for a cold one (or any of their non-alcoholic cider drinks as well!) to support the crew that took me in from the fur pound!

Location: Bull City Ciderworks - Durham
Time: 1pm-3pm

The 2-legs managed to snap a few pics of me and my famous grill for your viewing pleasure 😋

Gizmo's foster mom here! Taking over his page for a quick post!

Thank you all SO MUCH for all of your continued support and getting to know this sweet and amazing dog!!

I hope you have enjoyed learning about Gizmo through his slightly ridiculous posts! I wanted to take a moment to run through some of the highlights about this senior boy.

*Gizmo is 9y neutered male lhaso apso mix (I think he's got some Brussels griffin in him too..) I think he might be a bit younger than 9 since his teeth look really great for his age.

*He was an owner surrender to the shelter- according to relinquishment paperwork his previous owner wanted to euthanize him due to his behavior changes after having seizure-like episodes, including getting a bit nippy with a kid afterwards (please don't be off-put by this if you have respectable kids as he had been incredibly sweet with our daughter and kids that he has encountered out and about)- I will post more dog seizures and appropriate handling of the dog during the post ictal stage (30 min after having a seizure). He has had one seizure since we've had him - not currently on any meds since he has only had the one. He is under close observation for any followup episodes (again, I will post more about this at another time).

*Freedom Ride Rescue was able to pull him from the shelter to prevent him from spending his golden years in puppy lock down or from premature final salute. I volunteered to foster him until we could find him his forever home. Check out the rescue's website listed above in the contact section of this page.

*Gizmo is incredibly sweet and has tons of energy! He absolutely adores our daughter and loves to sit on or next to her when she is relaxing on the couch or doing homework.

*Gizmo has done well with our other dogs, although he can be a little jealous if another dog tries to get some attention from his person. He would probably do best in a home as an only dog or with a submissive counterpart. He prefers human attention rather than other animal attention. Unsure about how he does with cats.

*He loves plushy toys but will rip them up super quickly so unless you love to clean up fuzz, I would recommend sticking with the non plush items!!

*Does great on walks and is housebroken. Good on the leash and sleeps in his kennel at night with no problems. Does great out at restaurants and breweries as he does not bark at other dogs! Very well-mannered.

I hope that this post helps potential adopters to know more about what his ideal home would require. I honestly don't understand why anyone would give this boy up. Our family and friends have fallen in love with him. Please give this sweet boy a chance- he will make a wonderful addition to your family!

*If you would like to get to know Gizmo or would like to see other dogs available for adoption, please go to Freedom Ride Animal Rescue's website. Feel free to contact me through this page as well (Gizmo doesn't read messages sent to him, but I do!).

Thanks so much for reading all of this! I better get off his page though...it looks like he's waking up!
As Gizmo would say, Cheers mates!

Day 7: G'day mates! My apologies for the lack of posts for the past few days- it has been a ripper of fun the last few days here with the 2-legs! Finding my way a bit more and feeling confident to stand my ground against that fruit loop Rosie! Don't get me wrong though mate - I've gotten a bit soft and started to take a look around for her when she hasn't tried to rev me up for more than a few minutes!

I've been feeling strong as the back legs of a male roo - chasing the other 4-legs around and playing a bit of tug with the fruit loop.

While I am having a good ol' time here with my foster 2-legs, I can't help but dream about my new soul family!
Maybe my new mum is an investigative reporter - checking clues and putting the bloody ding bats in jail! Or maybe my new brother will be the king of the barbie and grill up a feast for our fam every night!

Time will tell, but I have a good feeling that wherever I end up will be the best bloody group of mates beyond the down under!
Until next time, enjoy these flicks that the 2-legs took of me! Cheers mates!

Day 4: Hello there mates! Today my foster mum had me tag along with her to her day job! Turns out, she goes to hang out with a bunch of other dogs (and some cats) during the day! I was a bit confused about why she was doing some of the things that she did but it turns out she works at an animal hospital.

She thought it would be a good idea for me to tag along since I had a bit of a spell yesterday - they called it a seizure but I don't remember much about it. I woke up all bundled up in a blanket like a Joey in his mums pouch! Good on me though, I didn't have any other issues the rest of the night and through today! Apparently I will be going to work with my lady 2-leg for a few more days just in case, but I think it has more to do with the Sheila's up there wanting to see my handsome face again 😍.
Welp that's about it for now! I will check back with you all tomorrow! Cheers!

Day 3: G'day mates - how you going!? A bit of a calm one today. I did discover that the 2-legs enjoy watching me ruffle my face into the pillows and fluff 'em up a bit. They are quite easily entertained!

I also am getting a bit more used to the fruit loop dog, Rosie. She's a bit off her rocker but who isn't these days?

When the 2-legs went off in their buggy, probably to catch a sick wave, I was able to get a bit of shut-eye in my kennel.
Feeling a bit more comfy with my new roomies but I sure am looking forward to meeting my new family someday soon!

Well that'll do for now. Time to hit the hay! Cheers!

Day 2: The 2-legs brought me to grab a cold one! I got myself a treat for being a good bloke! Cheers!

Day 1: G'day mates! Today is the first day in my new shack! The 2-legs oldies seem quite lovely. I find the traditional terms for foster mum and pop a bit soft so I will refer to them as the 2-legs. There is one shorter 2-leg that they call Amelia (10 years old)- apparently, she is only a year older than me! Crikey!

There are two other 4-legs here - one is a bit of a fruit loop - they call her Rosie (10-month old lab mix). The other is a bit calmer - they call her Ruby Sue (7-year old Basset Hound).

The house seems nice - a big yard outback that I can frolic around lots of stuffies to play with. The smaller of the 4 legs, Rosie, tries to rev me up a bit by sniffing my face and chasing me around. She's a bit of a dipstick but I think I'll let it slide.

I like the shorter 2 leg - Amelia. She likes to ruffle my whiskers and rub my belly - I think I will keep her around!

The 2 legs are trying their darndest to make sure I feel toasty and comfy in their house - I could get used to this!

Well that's all for now - stay tuned for more of my adventures!

Cheers!

G'day mates! The 2-legs call me Gizmo, but you can call me Giz, or Mo, or Giz-mo, or whatever!
It has been a bit of a wacky week for me. Allow me to explain:
I spent the first 9 years of my life just like any other bloke - running the great outback, chasing the roos, playing some footy, and mucking around. The 2-leg roomies that I was shacked up with said that I had gotten a bit dodgy since having a 'seizure-like episode' that seemed to frazzle my brain (well that's a bit much..). They dropped me at the pound and told me to bu**er off.. I overheard them yapping about how I would get a bit cranky when spritely kids would get a bit too close - oh come on then - I'm an ol' bloke that just wants to watch the tele and have a bit of a rukkus every now and then!
Anywho - there I found myself - gob-smacked and down for the count... My luck was about to change though! I was taken in by a very lovely group of mates that were lookin' to find me a new family to muck off with!
So fast forward to the present - I am shacking up with a new family of 2-legs until I can find 'soul family'. They say that they are 'fosters' but I only knew the word Fosters to be associated with an adult beverage... Anywho - thanks for getting to know me and stay tuned! G'day!
