Tassi’s most recent adventure is possibly being leased for a High School Equestrian Team.
Celine is a wonderful kid who I’ve had the pleasure of knowing for a while now and I think she did a wonderful job riding Tass around.

Once upon a time,
I followed a dream.
Train a wild horse
Is it as hard as it seems?
I was scared at first
When I saw she was angry
But I quickly learned
That she was scared of me.
I failed to teach her
With the ways I know
So to understand her
I had to grow.
Once she trusted me
We faced the unknown
And to follow my dream
We came to the show.
I missed her deeply
Before she had to go.
My stomach twisted
With my empty trailer in tow.
This crazy little pony
So fierce and smart
Had wiggled her way
Into my heart.

This is my way of saying I bought her back.
I didn’t have enough time with her
so it looks like I’ll have forever.

Tass is back at my place with my 2 girls for now until her adopter Donna Coombs is ready for her. In honor of miss Tass I’ve decided to keep this account going and rename it; Unhandled and Wild horses; Tassi’s Legacy. So that those interested can follow my progress with my next project, Tranquility. Aka Quilly. A 4 year old unhandled feedlot mare with a hoof injury.

Yesterday was crazy, I was all over the place but Tassi gave me everything I deserved and more.
Her journey doesn’t end here,
And fortunately I’m gonna still get to be a part of it.
Thank you, Tassi.
For showing up & for my very first buckle.

I am a proud trainer.
I haven’t shown in years.
I wanted to bring her here and do her justice.
And I don’t believe I did.
I thought she was ready, I was right.
It was me that wasn’t ready to listen with all the noise of the events 
I assumed she was upset over the circumstances,
That, of course she was the one upset or at fault.
That a wild mustang had to be wrong she had to be just fighting me, because that’s was mustangs do right? Wrong.
I’ve spent over 100 days with this horse and I still was so quick to blame her, and all she did was give me her absolute best.
And although I know she did great for the circumstances, she deserved more.

The idea of mustangs being crazy or unpredictable has infected most of the world, one way or another. What many seem to miss is that they are usually become the reflection of the worst and the best you have to give them. She told me plain and clear that something was wrong, and it was easier for me to dismiss that then to take her seriously. I hope that in the freestyle we can show who she really is and who she’s always been.

Many people think we are here to change, to correct, to make a wild mustang “good” well after this I can promise you they have all always been good. It is not me who “made” her kind and intelligent. I just was able to translate it to a language people understand.

I’m gonna miss this mare like someone misses their left leg.
She will always be with me in spirit and I will never forget what she gave me.
I love her like the wind loves the trees, they dance together and understand the push and the pull of life, broken branches that end new growth, and the drift that carries the seeds to new life.
Broken, angry, or destroyed, she will always be loved by me.
Our day didn’t go as planned and although she won 1st place overall so far. Due to a tack mishap I don’t believe that I was able to show her for who she really is.
She’s willing and intentional, smart and thoughtful, she’s trusting and sensitive, elegant and decisive.
I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to be fair to another mustang, as she was my first… and she set the bar unbelievably high.
I can’t believe our story is at an end, but I pray that her future is as bright and loving as it deserves to be.

Took miss Tass to my family’s place to use the lovely arena in the evening, stayed for the bonfire & Tassi got to meet everyone (including the neighbors). She gave a few pony rides, saw the fire pit, hung around patiently, & I swung off of what is left of the old rope swing.
As always, she enjoyed all of the new things I had to show her.

Teny and me had a wonderful time at Bolender Horse Park today! We got to play with advanced obstacles and new challenges. Thank you to Cooper's Mustang Madness Journey and Lil for coming with us today and video taping!

Did quite a bit of research to come up on a partial family tree for Tassi and I found a cute foal picture with her mom, Isis.
Tassi’s mother was exposed to multiple different studs but Quest is the only one who is a dun so it was narrowed down to him.
Big thanks to the people who document these mustangs that make a family tree like this possible.

Cars, especially my big old loud truck used to be a struggle for Tassi to cope with. Now I can pony her with one (safely on a private road)
Plus me and Tassi had a super productive lesson with a trainer on balancing and setting her up for success in the arena

Tassi is a 5 year old Silver Dunskin South Steens mustang pony who will be up for auction and competing August 4th-6th in Cle Elum for the Washington mustang madness competition.
She stands at 14hh is stout, barefoot, and built to last.

Tassi has been a kind and confident partner in the trails, in the arena, over obsticals and jumps, on the beach, at clinics, and new places.
She stands to be tied, mounted, and messed with in pretty much and situation I can think of.
She loads in any trailer and backs out or turns around, easy to catch and loves to be scratched on the withers (has a few preferred treats too!)

Tassi is an absolute blessing to be around and this is a horse always welcome back in my pasture.
She is green, and her education would have to be continued in order for her to be successful, for this reason I recommend she go to an experienced handler or someone who has the support system to let her bloom into the horse she’s meant to be. She most certainly has the potential to be an excellent pony club, 4-H or junior rodeo mount.

Tassi’s first time in this arena, first time cantering ba****ck, first attempt at simple lead changes, and first time jumping.
Money can’t make a mare like this, and I feel blessed to have her in my life.
