The main ingredient that we’ve used in our nutrient boosting frozen goodies is Stool-rite, co-formulated by top canine nutritionist & author of Feeding Dogs, Dr Conor Brady. StoolRite is a unique, highly effective natural solution to anal gland issues in dogs, it also has anti-inflammatory effects & boosts gut health and nutrient absorption. For more information pls see @dogsfirstireland where you can also purchase this awesome supplement 🌿
We wanted to pack an extra nutritious punch so also added :
Mackerel which contains high levels of essential omega-3 fatty acids such as EPA which aid cognitive ability, healthy digestion and joint health. Due to unique sensory features that we lack dogs taste foods through their sense of smell and texture thus adding fish to these treats to entice our Furbaby’s to enjoy the veg 🥦 - if using tinned fish avoid oils and aim for spring water or tomatoe
Natural probiotic kefir/yogurt, the added cultures aid digestion and also combats yeast within the body that can be a leading cause of ear issues
Broccoli contains calcium, potassium & Vitamin K which promotes strong bones and higher bone density making it ideal for both our older girl and pup
Spinach is packed with nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, vits &E, fibre and folic acid, you don’t need much to offer a healthy boost, a great addition but as it is high in oxalic acid, which blocks the body’s ability to absorb calcium, it should be offered sparingly in dogs diets and avoided if your furbaby has kidney or bladder issues.

With lawnmower season upon us it’s natural for our dogs to react to the unusual loud sound, especially if they can hear it from their garden or strangely see you pushing the loud machine that is making changes to their environment and filling the air with new smells... your dog may bark at the lawnmower or even from the house when they hear the neighbours mowing, this is extremely common and a sign that your dog feels uneasy and even fearful of this threatening noise... Here @ruby_and_ronjas_adventures awesome Mom is reintroducing positive associations to the summer sound through creating an opportunity for Ruby to practice a skill that she is already confident with in a controlled environment enabling her confidence to grow as we did something predictable that she enjoys at a distance.
Similar to firework sounds, introducing mower sounds (found online) on LOW whilst your furbaby enjoys a meal / enrichment or a game with you (their fave) can begin to build positive associations to the sound.
If your dog is irritated by the sound of a lawnmower close by, bring them to a room away from the sound, turn on some reggae (studies show that reggae calms dogs) and offer them a chew to enjoy(releases dopamine regulating heightened stress hormones) while they chill with you 🐾

Have you heard that you’re not supposed to let your furbaby win at TUG? Luckily this is a MYTH as it doesn’t sound like much fun for our dogs 🐾
Play helps to develop social learning skills and communication, we can use games such as tug to build confidence, self-esteem and even to practise focus skills. As much as they are our furbabys, dogs are a different species & in understanding their differences and natural abilities we can set them up to win by incorporating elements of activities that all dogs are hard wired to do through play 🐾
Tips on playing TUG
Have multiple toys available to hand for swaps, this helps to keep excitement low as when it gets too high it limits a pup/dog’s ability to listen & triggers natural instincts that’s why rather than tiring a pup out with a game of tug or fetch it leads to them nipping more, they simply can’t think for themselves so what we thought was going to be a fun game shifts towards more selfish possession and ‘killing’ practise as they go into their doggy brain. Playing in this way isn’t constructive or fun for either party and doesn’t add anything positive to your relationship.
Instead, we can keep arousal low whilst allowing for them to shake-kill through using multiple toys, play for a moment then throw the toy and when they retrieve it to you play tug, when they shake-kill, drop the toy and move to another, if they don’t follow begin singing or whistling to distract them to you, then show your furbaby the new toy, ask for a sit, wait, throw it, “go get it” (release cue) begin again 🐾
Enjoy the game but be sensible, you’re playing with a dog not a velociraptor. Keep your own body soft, relaxed and enjoy this time quality time together 😊 #tug #tugofwar #doggames #supportirishbusiness
