On Sunday, this pretty girl joined the herd.

Lilly was left with her herd after her owner sadly passed away. They didn't have much human interaction. Her owner's family rehomed them all eventually. Lilly had overgrown hooves and was really nervous. Her new owner loved her so much but unfortunately didn't have the time for anymore so we offered Lilly a lifelong home here at Run Free.

She's fitting into the herd already which is amazing for her. A bit of a change from living with Shetlands!

We'll see what we can do in terms of getting her more used to humans but some ponies just want to be left alone and that's okay!

Hello and welcome to Run Free Equine Rescue & Retirement👋🏻

We're here to offer a forever retirement home for horses and ponies in need. Whether it's old age, injury or something else. You can be happy knowing that you won't rehome your beloved equine for them to be passed around from home to home.

We fund everything ourselves and rely on donations to be able to keep running. We have access to 10+ acres with a monthly cost of around £150. As most horse people will know, this is amazingly cheap which we are more than grateful for. More land can be rented once we reach maximum capacity.

Unfortunately we do not have stables but some of the land does have a field shelter with another one coming soon. We would love to raise enough money to buy more field shelters. Winter is more costly due to needing hay/haylage and some animals will need hard feed in winter too.

Then there's the cost of farrier visits which is around £25 per pony, every 6-8 weeks. Sometimes 4 weekly if a pony has come from a neglectful situation and hasn't had their hooves trimmed in a long time.

We are happy to take on anything just as long as they don't require stabling. Hopefully in the future we can find somewhere to rent that has stables and/or a barn.

We are located in North Wales and can arrange transport from anywhere depending on how much we have raised.

Please consider a monthly donation to help us keep doing what we love to do and help equines in need❤️
