What if you could change colour of rug and heal your horse's injury quicker?

Yeah - you heard me. I know - it sounds bonkers, but read on - I promise it makes sense - and at the very least, you will have a scoff/laugh 🤣

For me, it started with coloured smoothies for the chakras during lockdown - I felt pretty amazing!

Now I regularly wear insane colour combos, eat tons of coloured veg and have been pondering this with the horses...

How does it work? Colours resonate at specific frequencies, as does everything, including you and your horse.

Within us, different parts of us resonate at different frequencies.

And just like pianos, whose sound we can hear, we go out of tune.

This is when we feel dis-ease in our bodies. This dis-ease is what I look to restore and one way of doing it is using colours.

I have just bought some infra-red boots from Premier Equine and they are black with red inserts.

The boots are specifically for aiding circulation and inflammation, so I can't help wonder how much more effective they would be if they were magenta and pink.

Colour is commonly used by businesses to foster feelings in that customer just from their branding - it is a big industry using colours to send subliminal messages.

I find fascinating is that pretty much all wormers are, indeed, yellow.

I wonder, if I added yellow to their feeds regularly, would this combat worms?

We don't have to see the colour for it to be beneficial - so for competitions why not use a coloured chamois under the saddlecloth or have coloured duct tape on the inside of the bridle to help with confidence, alertness - whatever your horse needs!

And likewise yourself - if you get nervous before cross country, maybe it's time to change colours!

We get into habits of wearing this and that and black is a massively overused colour - for our health we NEED to be donning colour every day.

With a little thought and intention, we can open ourselves to the healing powers of colours.

Step 1 - choose something you want to reinforce with a colour, such as confidence.

Step 2 - create an intention to be open to the healing properties of the colour - for example

"My intention for wearing this colour is to increase alertness/confidence/groundedness in the highest and best way, with grace and ease."

Step 3 - Get your colour on!!

Food fuels our brain and body - and what we use as fuel makes such a difference to how we feel physically and emotionally.

Did you know that you need 750 calories just to run your brain in a day?

I used to go every competition day without eating til the end - no wonder my results were sporadic! 🤣🤣

Your brain is fat so needs fat as a fuel source - healthy fat like avocados, butter, walnuts and coconut oil, not chocolate, crisps and chips.

What is more important freshness or organic?

I still am not sure, but the difference I have felt eating apples, blackberries and pears straight from the bushes is amazing!

So this morning I am fresh! Eggs laid this am, mushrooms cut 5 seconds before they hit the pan.

I always add some fat - today its avocado oil for frying the munchies and then a little drizzle on top too.

Horses wise, I have many questions that I never used to - should they really be eating grain?

What about the glyphosphate load in that grain?

Since I got my boys I have steered away from grain - I won't eat standard grain so why should they?

It has been proven time and time again that humans are carrying a glyphosphate load in their body and the same can only be assumed of horses.

And so far they are still alive, look healthy and seem quite balanced in their brain, so it is working!

Also, I have been reading more and more that horses should not exercise on an empty stomach.

My old thinking was starve them 2 hours pre xc and xc training - so I am wondering what my new thinking will be...

Definately some experimentation to be done with heart rates and recovery time to see what is actually best for the horse - watch this space!

🤣 Sean (the sheep) was not good enough company for Merlin today- he called to Simba the whole time while I rode.

I hate to say it, but I NEED more horses 🤔🔫 or do I?

So far, I have devised a clever turnout area beside the arena for now, I will not be stopped! 🤣

Meanwhile, the 'partition' has developed in from this into a barrier fit for King Simba, thanks to handy dad and his drill 🤗

I hope the boys are appreciating everything I am doing to give them bags of room and not in a stable- but so far, I think they are just a bit confused 🤣🤣

1 barn, 2 stables 😍🥰

The last time I had horses here was 2012! 🙈

And today, we return with grand plans and ambitions!

Lucky ponies have the biggest beds in the world, I hope my partition holds up! 🤣

Merlin reflecting on our early morning ride to beat the rain...

I love riding on the beach, but that straight line makes Merlin hell'a pully strong strong 🙈🦄

Something I have been working on in life always shows itself to me when I ride Merlin.

Control!!

Because I find him strong, I feel the need to constrict it control him - he pulls and my brain desperately wants to contain him and pull back.

Just like life, when you try to constrict something or someone the thing you dislike magnifies in your eyes.

It's only when we can accept that which we do not like in others as a representation of ourself we can heal the reason we judge that person.

When we go with the flow of life and stop resisting what we see as imperfect we can tap in to abundance on all levels.

Within imperfect lies I'm perfect - it's just how you look at it.

I hate horse running away with me and when I last had horses they had been mine for many years and were well trained and light in the hand.

Yet I now now- polarity brings the greatest gifts of knowledge.

What I want is for Merlin to be light in the hand and controllable at trot and canter - I do have that. Not remotely.

What I have done before is focus on how heavy he is, make him being heavy in my hand the bain of my life.

Unable to stop it I'd end up using gadgets like bungees and draw reins to make him feel good in the moment I was riding him.

However, these gadgets do not promote a horse engaging himself and moving through to the hand from the leg.

Worse, they damage the neck structure and stop a horse from truly engaging his hind end.

Did you know??? The vertebrae are neurological paired from the middle out- so if there is a injury or old injury in the neck, it creates compensation in the lumbar/sacral vertebrae.

Anyway - so as well as the bands I have a secret weapon - my mindset.

Before each ride I sit for a moment and quietly visualise my ride - with Merlin feeling fantastic and light in the hand.

I think about the polarity of the situation.

I want light and even though I occasionally have it now (and boy do I celebrate when I do) - I also celebrate strong.

Life is not a winning streak - it's a series of ups and downs. I gotta be happy with it all and embrace the fact he is not perfect (yet).

My standard is everything is good enough. It might not be what I want to go eventing, but I ainy going eventing yet, so who cares!

I'm riding my pony - yeeha!

You wanna pull, ok, have the reins and let's see how many half halts it takes you to stop. Oh yeah and go up this hill while we are doing it! 🤣😂

As soon as I start resisting, well - we all know who wins...

Eek - so for the first time in almost 10 years I am back in my farm.

Grand plans abound for my pony paradise - but it is a daunting task.

Step 1 - find the septic tank 🤣

I can smell it under that growth, but I cannot see it!

For those of you who use renewable energy, please give me advice from your experience?

Who feeds their horse (or themselves) ACV?

It has soooooo many health benefits, I like to have it before bed with raw honey (1:2).

A cup also goes into a bone broth to extract those nutrients for me and JJ!

And the newest additions to the farm (my chickens) also get it in their water.

So this year, the crab apples were collected and I have Mandy's 'bitter and twisted' ACV in the making!

Using the fruits of the land is incredible - I also made a sticky toffee apple cake last night 🤗😍

I love living from the land and cant wait to do more of it!

You those days you are knackered for no reason?

You maybe planned to do some strength training after riding, but decide to skip it for a gentle walk - flowing with life and taking care of your body and mind.

Or you ignore it, work out anyway have a substandard performance, get annoyed, even worse injured.

How do we know when our horse has these off days?

Adapting their training to allow them to show up fully is key to having a happy, healthy horse and not putting them under unnecessary strain.

But how?? How do we do it?

There are a few ways - we connect energetically with our horses everytime we are with them, that's an unavoidable fact.

It's just learning to listen and honour that connection.

Our souls are bigger than our body - so when we ride, we combine souls to become one.

Forgetting we are us and becoming one with our horse gets us what we want. When we can see ourself through our horses eye and mind, we can see what he wants and needs.

Clearing our mind from our every day worries and thoughts allows their thoughts to enter our mind.

I have a specific technique I teach my clients to reach the state of mind where connections and healing become possible.

I also teach them a couple ways to connect and ask their horses questions.

When here, some people see pictures, some people hear. Some people feel within their body and others just know.

But to trust ourselves is the greatest thing.

How do I know I am doing it right? You are. Trust in yourself, you are doing it perfectly.

The most important thing is that ANYONE can do this. It is our birthright.

Our divine gift is to be able to tap in to the world around us and learn from it all.

Our divine gift is to be able to heal ourselves and out horses.

And when we tap in to our divine gift, and honour ourselves above everyone we see the true beauty in life and everyone and thing around us benefits.

Story - photo.

This photo is Merlin and his love, Gucci. It makes him so happy to go and visit her on
his way in from the field. 💖😍🦄😭

Years ago, I would never have let him do that, I'd be pi**ed off, fighting him to come in as and how I wanted. No consideration of him and his feelings.

Now, he just mosies on down with me, he gets to kiss his woman and then we go play together in the field.

It's the little things in life that make it enjoyable and he always works better if I let him visit her as we pass 🥰💝💞💓

How can you step out of yourself and honour your horses for who they are today? Hiw can you connect and truly listen to them today?

Does your dishwasher have a prewash?

Mine is pretty effective, even cleans the door! 🙈💯👍

It's the little things in life and how we react to them that set the stage for our day.

I now see cuteness instead of a naughty puppy and that makes me smile instead of frown.

It's so important to frame everything in our mind in a way that bring us joy instead of being victim to our angry/critical selves.

I used to do because that was what was done.

Now, with my horses, I question everything!!

I used to take shoes off over the winter to give their feet a break, but on they would go for the eventing season, because that's what we do.

And then each shoeing was a nail biter - especially the last showing before a 3day event. Will they be fine/will they be sore - no-one knows!!

So what happens if I take shoes off and event barefoot??

I have seen with the neuro work I do that horses have an incredible amount of pain receptors in their feet that shoeing messes with...

I have seen tight neck, shoulder and back muscles melt from treating feet for the lasting toll of bailing and burning shoes on to them...

So, I wonder, what level can I event barefoot to?

Only one way to find out!!

Have you ever considered going barefoot?

Did you? Didn't you? Why?

First xc jumps since 2014, was great fun!
