The prevailing thought is that snake/wildlife avoidance must be done with fear, but by teaching it with positive reinforcement and helping the dog to understand what it is that we want, both dogs and humans are safer and more likely to avoid the wildlife.

Our positive reinforcement Rattlesnake Avoidance class will be offered in March/April on Thursday nights. Because this class is in such high demand, we are taking applications for the class. New classes now open for registration on the website with November, December, and January start dates -- Puppy Rising Stars, Dog Stars, Help! I Have A Teenaged Dog!, Control Unleashed, Canine Good Citizen, Continuing Education, Intro to Rally, Fun with Tricks, and more. Intro to Scentwork and other classes will be added soon. We anticipate classes filling quickly, so do not delay registering.

Therapy dog work can be very taxing for both you and your dog. An important element to focus on during your visit is how your dog is feeling. Your dog speaks to you through their body language and it's important for us to understand what they're trying to tell us.

ATD is excited to offer our teams a lovely visual handout on some key body language identifiers to be aware of during your visits.

Several times a year, Side By Side hosts a C-WAGS league for teams to play in Rally, Obedience, Games and/or Scent. It's a great way for teams to compete without the weekend-long commitment of a "normal" dog show.

We are very excited that our Spring 2022 League will be all the sports!!! It will be on Tuesday (Rally, Games, and Obedience) and Thursday (Scent) evenings in April and May starting at 6:30 p.m. (we try to be done by 9:00-ish p.m.)

We are looking for volunteers who would like to help the judges. The volunteers will primarily be responsible for timing and for preparing ribbons. It's a great chance to learn more about competition and all the sports. If you're interested, please contact us!
