FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED PLEASE FOR MEDICAL SPECIAL NEEDS PARALYZED XENA.
Feeling lonely? Well, Satchel’s Last Resort has the remedy - Foster or adopt Xena! You will have a constant companion who will think you’re the best thing since sliced bread.
Xena looks like she is a Black Mouth Cur puppy but she is 6 years old and weighs 25 lbs. The weight is important because she can’t walk on her own and you will have to be physically able to carry her. She can get around in the house and yard by flopping her body. She also has no issues in attending to bathroom business on her own.
The neurologist who consulted on Xena's care when she came to Satchel's a few months ago, believes an untreated virus or bacteria as a puppy could possibly have left her in this condition. She has been receiving neuro stimulation therapy for the last few months as well as swimming in the pool and practicing walking in her wheelchair and she has made a lot of progress.
Not being able to walk doesn’t hamper this girl’s spirit though. She is always happy, especially when she is by your side. She loves just hanging out as well as going for walks in her stroller. If you like to sleep in, you have yet another reason to adopt Xena, as she is not one to wake you up. She loves people (including children) and attention. Xena is currently in a foster home with other dogs and gets along great with them all - even though she sometimes can be a bit of a spitfire. Xena is looking for a new foster home with someone able to spend more time helping her with her therapy exercises. We have not had her around cats but it’s not like they couldn’t stay out of her way if she was too interested. Xena is a one of a kind and everyone who meets her falls in love.
Looking to foster? We supply you with all Xena's needs. We just ask that you give Xena love and spend time with her working on her exercises to possibly make her stronger. If you're looking for a new best friend and really want to make a difference in a dog's life, submit the foster application found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and make an appointment to meet this gem today!
