I got it, I got it! Oh wait!
Often times when I recall Hank and he starts running I have to move out of the way once he’s close because he has no brakes lol. When he’s running he is going full speed “aw lawd he comin” mode and doesn’t try to stop until the last second.

I don’t know how many times Hank has recalled and almost ran into me or a tree because he’s running so fast 😂

Anyone want some tiger hugs?
Missing our friends a lot lately if I’m being honest. Missing the hikes, outings and meetups. But then I remember, we are staying home so that one day we can do all of it again. The past year has been so hard on everyone and especially those who thrive in the social aspect of the world. We will keep pushing, keeping things safe and doing our best with what we have. @ Ontario

Photography isn’t always about the location
You don’t have to go to the “coolest” or most “out there” places to get amazing photos. Sometimes the best ones come from just outside your home. I think we as photographers think of amazing photos a lot for being in super adventurous places, but today we went out into the driveway for some while cleaning up snow and putting a part in my car. A lot of what’s part of an amazing photo is our ability to find inspiration where we are and what we can envision in those places.

Always wanting to succeed
That’s our goal isn’t it? To succeed and be proud of our achievements? Yes! But we also need to be proud of how we get there, what steps we take and the journey itself! I’ve found such a love for photography and am really trying my best to get better at it, there’s so much that goes into setting up, packing the right things and finding those perfect spots. I struggle a lot with editing, even though I have made some improvement and grown with things I’ve been able to learn I feel like I’m a little “stuck” so to speak. That’s why I signed up for a session with , her photography skills, editing skills and just everything about her photos are goals!
You can check out the link in our bio to sign up for one too! Or go check out her page for a highlight of details!

Training never stops just like education
We should constantly be learning, educating ourselves and making improvements in not only our dogs but ourselves as well. There will never be a day where one knows everything, we must continuously be adapting our mindset and learning just like our dogs. There will always be new information, new experiences and new opportunities to educate ourselves. So when the time comes to apply things we know in our lives we have the ability to look back at the information we have been able to take in and use what we know to work with what is at hand.
Keep leaning, keep adjusting and never assume you know everything. @ Warsaw Caves

Hi! Will you be my friend?
Instagram can be a confusing platform at many times for me. But I’ve recently grown more love for it because of the fact I’ve found some amazing people through it. There are so many awesome people, dogs and photographers that I’ve been able to find and I love it. I can’t wait to be able to get out more and meet some of these amazing accounts like one day!

Oh the places we’ll go
There is so much out in this big wide world that we want to see. The amazing people we will meet and the things we will accomplish. This is what keeps us going, the goals we have and the adventure we seek. And one day when I’m old and grey I will think back to all that we’ve done and know it was worth every second.

Happy working dog Wednesday!
Been a hot minute since we’ve posted any bite work photos! Still working things alone with Jones and building our other exercises. We’ve specifically been working a lot on our retrieval, it’s been a bit of a struggle because he gets so excited about it but we’re making progress and that’s what matters!

Finding motivation through new thoughts
Who knew! I’ve recently found quite a few really cool accounts though Instagram and I think it’s pretty awesome! Seeing others way of photography, scenes, training and of course their beautiful pets! I find it has been super inspiring, plus it has motivated me to focus on what matters and to just have fun with life!

Catch me if you can! Oh wait I can’t stop!
Hanks recall work that we’ve been doing has been amazing. We’ve basically been working on the intensity that he recalls at, his speed and excitement to get to me as fast as possible. We first started with our long line on a flat collar, letting him walk around and then giving him the recall command and running away from him. This made him build up a lot of speed and it made it super motivating for him to get to me. Now we’ve transferred from the long line to our ecollar or no collar, keeping up the repetition no matter the gear or situation is where we work the most.

Oh hey, it’s me
I definitely want To try and post more photos of me and Hank. I really enjoy posting the pictures of Hank and the places that we go, the things that we get up to but I also really am enjoying posting pictures of both of us which isn’t gonna be as often because I’m always behind the camera but I’m gonna try to get some more team photos especially like on our hikes since that’s pretty much all we do now thanks Rona.

Running at Monday like
Went on a 3 hour hike today at a new spot! It was about a 1.5 hour drive from us and holy cow! It was so worth it, we went to Warsaw caves conservation area, although the caves are currently closed the trails are so beautiful! There was 2 ft of snow in some places which made it pretty hard to get through but we did it! I think it was the perfect way to end off the weekend!

Looking forward to what is to come
It feels so weird, this is the first weekend (Friday to Sunday) that we’ve spend completely at home, with no set plans for anything. Being able to take our days as they go. It feels so odd but I think thats just because were always in a go-go-go mindset.
Does anyone else feel like this when they actually have the time to take each day with what presents itself?

Never alone, always together
It’s easy to say to yourself that you “dont need” something, that your not ”as bad” as what you think is bad. Easy to think that things are worse for others and that your situation isn’t as “worthy”. But when the time comes and you need that help, support and necessity, you begin to realize that you are not alone. You are not diminished, you are not the thoughts you put into your own head. Because you matter, you are worth every penny and you are better knowing that you can overcome anything.
We all get caught up in the views and thoughts we think others have of us and it can really tear a person down to the last strand. We start to believe those thoughts and they manifest within our lives.
But you know what, you are the only person who can change that. No one else’s opinion can change who you are at heart and no one can belittle you when you know who you are.
Find your worth and wear it proud, because that is what matters. You are what matters and dont let anyone or anything stop you from being the amazing, thoughtful and glorious person you are.

Just hangin out
Yesterday was, to say the least, crazy. Short story; cut/crushed my finger in my car hatch door. Went to work for 4 hours. Went to emerge afterwards, was there from 730 - 945. Got x-rays, then 3 tape stitches. Got home at 1030, finally started to try and manage the pain, got some food and went to bed at 1am. (More in depth on our story + me freaking out)
Overall I’m glad that I had Hank with me, it was his 2nd time in the hospital, the last time was 2019 for my MRI and he did amazing. Throughout all the environmental stress, abrupt loud disturbances, people cooing/cawing all while I myself am trying to keep it together the best I can. I cannot say how proud I am and how thankful I am that he was there by my side.

Lovely weather for a hike!

Let’s start! Time for photo tip Tuesday!
I think this will be a super fun way we can all share our thoughts and ideas on dog photography! Here’s our tip for this week! Did you know having a lower f-stop isn’t always going to give your photos the sharpest appearance? Often lenses work best 1 or two stops above the lowest aperture. You can still get beautiful background blur even at f-4 or f-5.6, just place you subject closer to you and further away from the background!

Find the magic that you seek
No matter where it is, how long it’ll take or how far you need to travel. It’s the destination that makes it all worth it. The end result of your hard work and perseverance. The moment you find it, you find yourself, you find meaning and you find joy. @ Forks of the Credit Provincial Park

Your chariot awaits!
This was such a fun photoshoot, put two little teddy bears in the sleigh so it wasnt empty and it turned out so adorable! Were now re-setting the sleigh to put actual things in it and redoing our pulling setup for it to be proper.

Improving dog photography
It all starts inside the camera but here are a few tips when taking photos of dogs. Focus on the eyes! It can be easy to focus on the nose but remember the eyes must be sharp. Get on their level! Whether they’re sitting, lying down or standing, make sure your on the same level of view. Move around your dog! While your dog is placed circle around them while taking a few shots, you can find the best angles doing this!
That’s all for today but I can’t wait to share more!

Back home after an awesome afternoon, I’m so proud of the progress were able to make with everything. Working this weekend but it’ll be nice since I’m only doing afternoons so its been a lot easier for recovery days.
Do you find its harder to recover after a long day as well?

The waterfall journey
It took me and 1 year to finally make it to this waterfall. Our first attempt didn’t go so well, there’s a massive set of wooden stairs before the trail to the falls. Last time we didn’t even make it halfway down before having go head back due to mobility issues. But this time, we finally made it, we did it and we accomplished something big. Even though it took so long to do it. It was an amazing achievement for both of us.

When its finally Friday
What a week, it feels like we’ve been going non-stop and all I can think is, wow. We only went on one hike this week due to pain, its been so cold here -15 C (5 F) and even though its been beautiful to look outside, my body is not happy and I feel like I’m being frozen from the inside out.
Anyone else have pain surges more in the winter too?
