Mason City Kennel Club will be offering Fall Puppy and Basic Obedience classes.

Cost:
$90.00/1st dog
$70.00/2nd dog (same session)
$70.00/re-enrollment of a dog that has previously taken classes

Class Descriptions:
Puppy Training Class - This is a class for puppies between the ages of 2 months and under 6 months old that will cover teaching basic obedience commands, by focusing on teaching the owner/handler to train the puppy using positive reinforcement training techniques. Some of the topics covered in this class, to help your puppy have a great start in life, include socialization, house training, crate training, and general health care. Obstacles, (tunnel, ladder, etc.) are frequently used in this class to build the puppy’s confidence.

Basic Obedience Class - This is a class for dogs 6 months and older that have not previously completed a formal training class, or for dogs that have completed other formal training but still need further conditioning. The Basic Obedience class is designed to teach the owner/handler to train the dog to be a good companion for years to come by using commands such as : sit, down, stay, come, and heel, among others.

Download, print and fill out the MCKC class application along with copy of your dog’s vaccination record, check payable to Mason City Kennel Club and send to:

Each student will be assigned by the Training Committee to the Obedience class that best suits their dog and previous training class experience.

Students will receive a confirmation email verifying enrollment and information pertaining to assigned classes no earlier than two weeks prior to the start of classes.

The Mason City Kennel Club will be hosting their annual 2-day AKC All Breed Dog Shows on April 22-23, 2023 at the North Iowa Events Center in Mason City, IA beginning at 8:30 a.m. to around 4:30 p.m. both days. Come see 900+ dogs, their handlers and judges, who come from all over the United States and Canada, compete in Conformation, Obedience and Rally Obedience! Only entered dogs are allowed on show grounds. Admission is $2.00, kids under 12 years are free.

If you did not receive an email from me saying “reserve grooming is full. Please pick up your check at the show.” Then you do have a grooming spot!

The list for those of you with spots will be posted on the wall as you enter the front doors of the Olsen building.

There will be very little open grooming at the back of the building. Please get to the show site on Friday before 2 pm when the building opens.

We also have open grooming in the Swine building.
