Instead of the normal International Dog Day Post, I am posting a tribute to Bob Barker. It was announced that he passed this am at the age of 99. He was a long time animal activist far beyond reminding us to spay and neuter our pets. He stopped animal abuse in the entertainment industry as well as donated millions of dollars to different organizations without looking for any sort of recognition for his efforts. Thank you Mr Barker for all you have done. You have left a legacy and so many have benefited from your actions

CHECK YOUR CHIP!! June is National Microchip Month. If your dog is chipped, check in with your vet and make sure the chip is still in place and working. Working at the town shelter, I see lots of dogs come in that you can tell belong to a loving family but they aren't chipped. These dogs are rarely reunited with their families. Microchipping your dogs and cats improves the chances of being reunited.

Last week we found out that Bandit has injured his canine cruciate ligament (doggy ACL). Bandit's vet prescribed some medications and rest.

Like any other young dog, Bandit is active and loves 4 p.m. playtime and standing on the back of the couch performing neighborhood watch. He is not a fan of being crated; he whines and paws at the door and I don't want to sedate him with trazadone if I can avoid it. So what's a dog mom to do?
