Thanks so very much for the outpouring of love and concern. Midnight was my 6 year old's unofficial emotional support animal. Whenever she was struggling with her day, and I couldn't get her to smile, I would lay Midnight next to her to calm her heart. He wouldn't move. He and her were there for each other.
A new, thoughtful friend from work secretly surprised me this super soft and adorable puppy to give to her. I woke her up with it to hold. The first thing she said, "I miss him." I reminded her that Midnight would be happy she has a stuffed animal to hold in his memory. I then asked her what she thought Midnight would call this new stuffy. She said, "Brownie!"
