Van claims he's a disabled veteran but we find it hard to believe he's disabled in any way.

He even goes so far as to use the handicap parking when he's completely mobile. It's legal for DV license plate holders to use handicap parking in FL but only if they have mobility impairment.

How disgusting to take away a spot from someone who actually NEEDS it.

Well - BGHR is back to doing what they did in 2021 - purchasing draft horses from "kill pens" in the midwest. They have a new "Draft Horse Protocol" which we haven't seen proof of since Mac arrived. You know, it's a good thing two people have died so Van has a big sob story to tell so people will donate. Well wait... people AREN'T donating. Perhaps everyone has wised up to their old "Draft Horse Protocol" of starving horses to death or near to death then pawning them off on other rescues to rehab - out of their own pockets, mind you.

Van is like a petulant child. He cries and rants and tells big sad stories and says he NEEDS this horse or that or begs and says I swear we are trying to help this animal or that. His followers give in and give him the money to get said animal. Then he breaks the animal. Then throws it away and cries that it's because others (ie, "The Haters") made the horse break. And Emily supports this behavior - whole heartedly.

Oh sure, they've been in the right place and right time recently. But we are watching. They have a sordid history going back years and years. We will keep watching to keep the horses safe.

In Florida, you need a certificate to solicit funds if you're a non-profit organization. BGHR's is expired, once again. Does Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation do anything about it? Doesn't seem like it.

This isn't the first time they've been expired. Last time Van concocted this long story about how he's not good at paperwork yadda yadda. What's your excuse this time?

Illegally soliciting funds for rescues he shouldn't even have.

He also doesn't provide Form 990's when asked - a big no no for non-profits as well. Does the IRS care? Nah.

As usual, they get away with it.

Couto - wild horse from (edited) Fort Polk Louisiana - taken in when he was in poor condition. Rehabilitated with Cindy at the Cow Sanctuary. Moved to the "Eagle Ranch" in April in amazing condition. A month later - look EMILY - ribs, indentations, not filled out.

Guess they had a miraculous training session that cured him of being a wild horse since he's out now - 3 weeks after gelding.

Thanks to a follower for alerting us to this story that aired about the mini Freddy, who unfortunately ended up in the hands of BGHR. BGHR who tells sad bu****it stories about the Amish who breed these minis (how did they even come up with that drivel?). Can you even believe Emily saying how "you shouldn't see ribs, shouldn't be indentations, they should be filled out"? As if she's an expert on emaciated horses? Oh wait - she is - because that's what many of her horses looked like a year ago before they plopped them on other rescues to rehab them - WITHOUT CONTRIBUTING A DIME. They washed their hands of them and then moved on to others.

It's like a kid (BGHR) begging mommy (their followers) to buy them all these toys (purchase "kill pen" horses at $6500 a pop), breaking them (starving them nearly to death), throwing them away (sending them out to rescues or shooting them), then asking for more (asking for money for a damn camel). Rinse and repeat.

Thanks, WPTV, for airing about this fraudulent rescue that should be shut down. Freddy deserves better. But, he's cute, and he brings money, so that's what BGHR is going to focus on right now.

BGHR seems to be confused about purchasing versus rescuing.

Kind of like purchasing a puppy from a pet store and then calling it a "rescue". Or purchasing a baby camel from an animal dealer and calling it a "rescue".

Their followers were duped. This was a personal purchase with donations.

So this is what BGHR says is "doing great and looking fantastic" and this is what "doing great and looking fantastic" REALLY is.

Commander is now with Adonis Acres and is actually thriving now that he's out of BGHR's hands.

The first pic was just after intake from the "horrible" "kill pen" (aka sale lot) in July 2021. The post was from July 2023 showing an emaciated horse. Commander moved (under duress) to Adonis Acres Aug 27, 2023. The pic was posted April 22, 2024.

Wake up, people.

If Commander hadn't been moved, he'd be dead. Like General. Like Hobbs. Like Callista. Like Gracie. Like Daisy. Like Shyla. Like Boone. Like Crockett.

We seriously thought BGHR's post about purchasing a $12K baby camel was an April Fool's Day joke but I guess their donors are the fools for thinking this is a good idea.

They themselves ADMIT that they are behind on vet bills, can't afford a hay trailer (the hay trailer has been empty for months), need rent money, and can't afford lumber, but hey, if you feel like it, send us $12K to get a baby camel. At least they aren't calling it a "rescue" like LaPorte Farms did. It's a full on PURCHASE with money they don't have.

Now they've switched gears to a 2 year old camel from the same place that Franklin came from. An animal dealer.

Why do they need another camel? Because it brings in MONEY. It brings in viewers. It brings in visitors. They said they'd never use Franklin to bring in donations. Yet they have Franklin t-shirts for $30 - which is way more than it costs to make them. His antics - such as destroying any vehicle that drives in to the ranch and eating various non-food items because he's incredibly bored - are fodder for views on TikTok and Facebook.

They say it's for "Therapy". Van himself says the animals are for HIS therapy. Let's talk about PTSD and veteran's therapy for a moment. Van claims he's 100% disabled. What kind of stressors set you off, Van? Can't be loud noises - you shoot your own animals routinely. Can't be people - you invite them to your place continuously, berate them, sexually harass them, run them off, call them names, bully them, slam them on social media, etc. Can't be physically disabled - you're on tall ladders building barns. Can't be mentally disabled - you run a business that takes in $367,000 in a year.

You don't have a single therapist in your non-profit. You don't have any training. You've CAUSED more PTSD and trauma to veterans that have been part of BGHR than you've saved.

Is starving horses part of your therapy? Feeding them CATTLE CUBES instead of horse feed because you can't seem to afford proper nutrition? Letting unaltered pigs run around amok at your house? Leaving medical conditions untreated then dumping them on other rescues who need to pay thousands and thousands of dollars to fix what you broke or left too long?

Sure - camels are cool. BGHR seems to have found their new greatest cash cow. It's time to find the horses homes - they are all young, trainable, eventually rideable horses. There's no reason for them to stay there - especially under those conditions.

Any person who donates towards this camel or to any of BGHR's non-existent "programs" is a blind idiot who supports animal abuse and fraud.

STOP. THE. MADNESS.

Director of BEHS Jennifer Taylor Williams says:

“Unless you can keep the horse for life, even if it is terribly misrepresented, stop buying "kill pen" horses. AND stop donating to the "kill pen" rescues. The truck isn't coming tomorrow. They're using you to make loads of money and they're hurting the entire horse industry.”

“These “rescues” have gotten really good at going live on Facebook, crying, telling stories, and raising thousands of dollars in an hour. Basically, they’re good at emotional blackmail. They’re good at pulling at your heart strings.

And so the money pours in. And sometimes they do buy horses. Sometimes they hoard those horses at ranches or quarantine facilities. Sometimes they find them new homes. Sometimes the horses disappear and we don’t know where they go. Sometimes, though, that money doesn’t even go to buying the horses.
Often someone sees a horse being shown as “going to slaughter if you don’t save him” and they have to save the horse. The problem is that sometimes these folks don’t actually have any place for a horse to go. They want to save the horse, but then what? Oh, they ask us, and other rescues, to take the horse in.”

Don't be taken in by Van's EMOTIONAL BLACKMAIL. Dramatic and poignant posts about this "mommy" or that "relation that may or may not exist that must be honored by this $6500 PURCHASE with your money".

$6500 horses don't ship to slaughter. Real rescues don't care how tall a rescue horse is - they just take it in, no matter the condition. Draft foals don't ship to Japan from the US (they are purpose bred in Canada).

STOP BELIEVING THE LIES. And stop sending BGHR money for them to starve horses.

Well ya'll know we were going to say something about this scale idea.

Van posted a pic of his ugly ass feet on a human scale apparently showing his weight of 247. Yay for him? 🤢 WTAF.

In yet another guaranteed-to-fail program, he wants to buy a large animal scale to weigh his horses monthly and video it for all to see.

Sounds like a great idea, doesn't it?

Except, we bet you he does it once... maybe twice. And then nothing. Maybe more, since we are watching. Who knows.

Just like his "Monthly Statistics Report"? Twice - then nothing.

Like all of his programs he's tried to come up with in the past? All failed. Every one of them. The riding program, the therapy garden program, the one-on-one interaction program, the veteran therapy program...

Want to donate to the scale? Great. Might as well take that cash and set it on fire because that scale is going to end up in that rat infested barn collecting dust. Just like those 20+ bales of coastal that were donated that sat out front of the property and rotted. Just like all the furniture for the displaced veterans that is now covered in rat f***s and full of holes. Like all the fly masks that were donated - where are they? Food and pet food and clothing drives - didn't go anywhere - sitting on the shelves in the barn being eaten by rats. Begging volunteers to take it versus giving it to those who needed it and to whom it was promised.

Why does a rescue need a scale? Aren't photos enough? Doesn't the camera add 10 pounds? Oh wait - it's because of the way the horse STANDS is why it looks a body condition score of 1-2 - we get it. 👌 Even though every single angle taken of the horse makes it look like a BCS 1-2... it's an optical illusion... sure, ok Jan.... oops Van.

Here's a novel concept - feed your horses a nutritious HORSE diet. Not cattle cubes randomly dropped. Or random drops of coastal hay. Or random anything. Consistent, twice daily feeding. You know, like you used to do in 2022 when you had all those volunteers doing all the work and buying feed for you and your horses actually looked ok for a minute.

Then you wouldn't need a scale. Your horses would tell the story for you.

Alright, the gig is up. While we received lots of messages offering to help save this mare as long as it doesn't go to BGHR, what was abundantly clear was that this mare needed saving - that she was in trouble. That she was in poor condition and needed out of where she was. We are sorry we duped you, but we wanted to prove a point.

Well, guess what. This photo is of Calista. One of Van DeMars many failures. This is what she looked like just 8 months after arriving to BGHR under his watch. While he took in $367,000 of donors funds, he starved his horses.

She died just 2.5 months later.

A beautiful girl, gone way too soon, all for the sake of money and negligence.

The second pic was Calista in February 2021. After being purchased from an auction lot, supposedly pregnant (not). But at an absolutely perfect weight.

Why do BGHR fans think this is ok? It's not just one horse that didn't fare well or have cancer or some other debilitating disease. It's ALL of their draft horses. Every. Single. One.

We have been alerted to this mare who needs rescue immediately out of a kill pen in MS. She's 12, pregnant, and tossed away like garbage. So thin, mane so tangled. Her bail is $1900.

Perhaps if we raise the funds for the bail, Van can pick her up on the way back with Lil Mac from LA.

What do you say, NurseYoung Beverly Young and Mary Kay Lantz? Will you help us raise the funds to bail the poor mare out of the kill pen? How about - will you help? Let's save this mare!

As Van DeMars begs for money for small things such as chainsaws and essentials like feed, he's also moving back into the draft horse auction lot business by "saving" another Belgian. The horse, now named "Lil Mac", is at a vet clinic to be evaluated for his injured leg.

If you remember, in 2021, Van DeMars and Emily Domagtoy bilked volunteers and donators out of HUNDREDS of thousands of dollars to "rescue" 6 draft horses they named "The Titans". You can see them featured on the top of our page. Four of those 6 are dead (Jobe, Boone, Crocket, Callista). And 2 had to be rehomed in emaciated conditions because BGHR could not care for them properly (Zeke and Izzy).

More Titans came over the next year. Shyla, General, Lexi, Big Tom - all DEAD. Gunny, Rambo, Ruthie, Belle, Rose, Lincoln, Cooper, Elizabeth, Commander, Lily - most rehomed in poor condition, several needing significant rehab and/or surgery that should have been taken care of by BGHR.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞.

Do not fall for the stories... the drama... the bu****it.

Remember those they starved. Remember those he shot. Remember those that needed surgery but didn't get it. Remember those they failed and who are only doing better now because people spoke up.

Max, now Lil Mac, definitely needed to be saved. But being purchased by BGHR isn't saving. Unless he's euthanized at the clinic for his injured leg, Max faces an uncertain future. Will he be starved? Shot when he cannot move and they can't afford vet bills?

Don't subject any more horses to BGHRs scam tactics.

When they look better AT THE KILL PEN than they do under BGHR's "care"... to the point they had to rehome the horse to another rescue... well, that just sums up everything you need to know about BGHR's "care" for animals.

And it's not just Izzy.

It's Gunny. It's Commander. It's Zeke. It's Belle. We could go on.

Yes, we care about the horses in the broker's lots. And that is why we say "F**K NO" to BGHR getting any more horses. Nearly ANYONE else would be better than BGHR. As a vet once said, "There are worse things than death." And we believe going to BGHR is one of them.

No more starvation. No more suffering. No more.

No matter what name you call it, as long as Van DeMars is in charge of or involved with care, horses will suffer on that ranch.

As usual, Van DeMars stretches and misquotes the truth to fit how he wants his followers to see the situation.

Our emphatic F**K NO was to BGHR taking the horse in. ANYONE else would be better than BGHR.

And no, the horse wasn't sent to the lot because of her leg. She came with many others, including her teammate, and a stallion.

And the lot absolutely posted her for sale on their page - see below.

Kill pens are a scam. They are a money maker. And boy have they made money from Van DeMars (actually his followers that he duped). He paid $5-6000 EACH for some of the recent drafts such as Belle. Belle, a "rescue" he claims, who he DEMANDED to know if she were truly 18.2hh. WTF would it matter if she were 12.2 or 18.2 if she's being rescued? And WTF are you paying >$5000 for a "rescue"? That was a PURCHASE. She BECAME a rescue when she went to BGHR. Thin and utterly underfed, with her foal that went through more than any foal should have to because of their negligence.

Magdalene and her possible foal will not have to suffer that fate.

It's the Case of the Mysterious Age!

Does Van count in horse years or something or is this some sort of Common Core math?

Feb 5 2019 - horse is around 20. Two days later, suddenly she's almost 34. Then she's actually 34 a couple of weeks later. About 2 years later, she's suddenly almost 40. A year later, she's 38. 6 months later, she magically turns 40.

Amazing!

Just like Gunny wasn't aging exponentially (he's only about 25)...

And... we're back.

After desperately placing almost all of their horses in rescues or rehoming them because they couldn't properly take care of them (look how amazing the horses look now that they are out of BGHR hands! See next posts.) and still owing a substantial amount of money to their former veterinarian among who knows how many other people, BGHR is once again begging for money to bail a horse out of a kill pen.

Deja vu, anyone? Seems like they've been there, done that two years ago and look where they ended up? They want to rename the ranch... as if that will make anyone think they are going to do better this time?

When will you wake up, BGHR? When will you realize that horse rescue is not your forte?

Van has openly asked us ("the hater page" hah... guess the TRUTH hurts, eh?) our thoughts on whether they should get this horse.

Baby Rose is 1 year old today. We celebrate because she has escaped the hell that is BGHR.

Here is a letter from a follower:

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞!

On August 29th, 2022, our beautiful Percheron foal was born in a dark corner of the back forty, in a horrible, barren lot in the middle of hurricane season. Her mother, Belle, stood over her for hours along with the herd’s self-appointed guardian, Gunny, a stately Belgian draft.

It didn’t have to be this way. Belle was pregnant when purchased at a kill pen auction in February 2022. Upon her arrival at the Titan Ranch, Van DeMars and Emily Domagtoy made plans to build a sturdy pole barn in preparation for her upcoming birth. A few poles were sunk, a small roof was attached. Then, lazy Van stopped all construction and what was left was a useless, white trash version of Stonehenge, certainly not a suitable maternity ward for a 2,000-pound mare and her foal.

At several weeks old, Princess Rose developed a serious eye infection, temporarily blinding her. During treatment at an equine hospital, she suffered a serious side effect. Emergency colic surgery was performed to save her young life and, miraculously, she survived, and she and Belle came back to the Ranch.

Aftercare instructions from the hospital were completely ignored and never implemented. No instruction was given to the volunteers on how to manage Rose’s condition. Belle and Rose were stuck in Stonehenge so Rose could be kept quiet and not rupture her surgical site. Van and Emily provided no comforts, no clean bedding, no fly repellant, seldom fresh water and/or grain. Belle spent her days protecting her baby from the curiosity of the other horses as they were always within reach.

By ignoring Rose’s aftercare protocol, after only 4 weeks on stall rest, Van and Emily allowed Rose to roam freely with 20 other horses. Van and Emily were simply too lazy to come to the property to care for Rose. Within a week or two of Rose’s freedom, the volunteers started noticing a bulge in Rose’s belly and it was determined she was developing a hernia at her incision site. Van and Emily called it ‘suture failure’ and publicly insinuated the equine hospital was to blame. As Van and Emily never returned to the equine hospital for aftercare, totally ignored discharge treatments, and took a long time to fully pay their debt to the hospital, and other various reasons including not wanting to wean the foal despite being an appropriate age, they were advised to go elsewhere to have the hernia repaired. At six months of age, another equine hospital agreed to treat Rose. Again, this little foal survived another serious health scare despite the owners’ incompetence, apathy, laziness, and a total lack of compassion.

Rose was returned to her Mama at the Ranch, again confined to her nasty stall, again all discharge/aftercare instructions were ignored, cleanliness protocol non-existent. An elastic belly band was part of her aftercare instruction and this was left on for 3 weeks without checking anything underneath. The reuseable belly band was then placed on Rose and they rarely removed it or cleaned it. Rose developed pressure sores on her withers due to the careless use of the belly band.

This beautiful baby survived her first seven months, not because of anything Van and Emily did, but solely by the care and work of the veterinarians and the volunteer staff. Van and Emily would take videos and post pictures on FB and TikTok capitalizing on Rose’s story and using her misfortune to beg for donations. They used Rose to line their own pockets by pulling on donors’ heartstrings and misleading them into believing their donations were being used to help Rose.

Van just recently posted that Belle and Rose have been adopted out to a real home, one where they will have a chance to recover from the previous abuse and neglect, and an opportunity to regain their health. Mom and Baby will no longer have to wonder where or when their next meal will be, no more wishing they had grain, alfalfa, and good quality hay, no more longing for a shade tree to escape from the Florida sun and torrential rains. Getting regular baths and brushings and having a loving family around you constantly. Finally, Belle and Rose are getting what they always deserved.

Princess Rose, God has kept you on this Earth for a reason… Not sure what that reason is, but you have survived the abuse and neglect in your young life and have been victorious against your adversaries. You have been blessed with a nurturing and protective Mother and have valiantly fought your way to your first birthday. Your perseverance has finally paid off Little One.

Oh, that green stuff you see at your new home… that is called pasture grass. You’ll love the taste of it, the feel of it under your hooves, and on your back as you roll around on it. Enjoy!

From all of the Animal Allies at the Truth Page, Rose, we are so excited for this new chapter in your life. We have watched you grow from almost the moment you were born and have rallied around you at each misstep BGHR has taken with you. No more exploitation, no more starvation. Just love, and food, and care, and attention, and living life to the fullest.

From Van and Emily's neglect resulting in the hernia (which they tried to play off as excess hair after clipped), to them begging their followers to pay for the surgery to repair the hernia that THEY caused, to the drama associated with this idiotic and nauseating "Mommy" concept, to failing to train her to load (they had 5 months - WTF were they thinking?!) which made going to the clinic for surgery a multi-day, multi-hour long stressful ordeal (she wouldn't even walk to enter the building once there!)... All of this made for dramatic "Van stories" to pull your heartstrings and beg for even more money to fix their mistake.

That's all done now. Rose and Belle can go on and have wonderful lives - like all the others who have left BGHR care alive - and flourish and succeed.

We'll include some of the highlights from Rose's first year on earth - it's been a crazy 12 months.
