27 Dogs (13 Males & 14 Females)
5 Cats (2 Females & 3 Males)
The SCHOEMANSKLOOF STERILISATION INITIATIVE therefore sterilised 33 domestic animals
In theory, a female dog can have over 10 litters in her lifetime. With an average of 3-5 puppies per litter.
That means an average female dog that is not given adequate food and health care can have up to 6 litters in her lifetime. Let’s be conservative. So we potentially saved 336 dogs from being born and thus perpetuating the vicious cycle of having abused and hungry dogs that are also used to hunt for their food which means hunting our wildlife.
I won’t even go into the cat statistics.
I would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to EVERY single person that helped on the day and leading up to the initiative. The following people supported me and donated and without them this would not have happened. Each animal when home with enough food for a month, blankets and they were frontlined during after care.

Every community member who put their pets lives in our hands and gave permission and every other helper who selflessly helped: Sergio, Evans, Friday ….
And the Mpumalanga CSS Vets - 9 vets, 5 nurses and 4 interns - All of whom worked flat out from 07:00 - 15:00 non stop in a dusty, hot environment in an army tent. What an incredible achievement. THANK YOU. YOU ARE ALL TROJANS.
There are so many more dogs that need to be sterilised. So many owners that need to be educated. So many lessons learnt by me - let’s do another one in 6 months time. You can start donating now!!!
